Forum Post: I can lead OWS - and make the changes happen!

How many of us remember government class in high school. For the majority it was a requirement for graduation. We learned that in congress things are planned, sometimes in small groups just like the "super group" that was created not too long ago, presented, discussed, and then voted on.

OWS needs a leader that can PLAN - PRESENT - DEBATE and LEAD our ideas to a VOTE!

I am fully capable of listening to your ideas and formulating the plan. Then putting the plan into a coherent and manageable presentation that will help lead OWS onto the congress floor!

OWS needs to be more than people sleeping in the streets! OWS needs to have a leader that will present ideas and lead them to a vote!

dankpoet - yes, thank you for your input. Is there anything else you would like to add?

[-] 1 points by mrsbblack (102) 13 years ago

Yes - I agree, the organization needs to be done en masse. but how do we get the people on the ground in NY to start organizing ideas and making them presentable? chanting phrases isn't exactly presenting congress with ideas they can bring to a vote.

we don't need any leaders. we do need organization of the kind you talk about but that should be done en masse.

The movement is better off without leaders for any of twenty different game theory and systems theory reasons.

The non leaders understand this.

Many ideas have been coming into www.purpleblogspot.blogspot.com - I plan to organize these ideas and lead them to a vote. Everyone can vote and it is important to only move forward with ideas that the majority of OWS backs. Democracy is number one. Vote now and submit your own ideas!

no mrsblack. Maybe you didnt read up on #ows. #OWS IS NOT A POLITICAL PARTY. #OWS already set forth a declaration on Wed. Oct 5,2011, It was read at the general assembly and then read by Keith Obermann on his Current TV show. #OWS will not make political demands. To do that, would be aknowledging that #ows is a political party. #OWS will not be hijacked the by 2 party system. Please show up at anyone of the #OWS protest sites that are happening across the nation and give them your ideas. You will be welcomed.

[-] 1 points by mrsbblack (102) 13 years ago

I dont think that OWS should make political demands. I think that the supporters of OWS should make their ideas known in an organized matter. There is nothing wrong with pushing our ideas onto the congress floor so that they can become more than ideas... if we are going to change the government and our children's future - more needs to happen than just sleeping on the streets of NY.

mrsblack, please go to a protest site near you and make your ideas know to an #ows representitive. You are allowed to speak. There is a human microphone. They have general assembly everyday.

You should be proud that these people YOUNG and OLD have taken to the streets. They are doing this for the future of this country. There are always sacraficial lambs...they are the ones.

Im in the DC area with occupy dc. See ya soon!

Oh, I am very proud! I am not trying to come off as anything less. I will be a part of Occupy Grand Rapids, and I'm looking forward to it. I am trying to support in as many ways as possible. :) Good luck in DC!

Too many elected people think of themselves as leaders. Our elected servants are just that..SERVANTS. You just basically described our system of government...not Democracy...Democratic Republic. Along with a lot of the problem...people think elected politicians are leaders.
