Is it an unreasonable assumption that the people's lack of enthusiasm and caring for the political/economic system for decades is to blame in all of this? Or, is it simply the outcome of a greedy corporate class?
I believe that it is time we become empowered citizen's and do away with the apathy. Simply telling the world that we are mad by throwing a protest won't solve any of our problems.

Many people have expressed their opinion about the way forward in this movement.
There are 3 common flaws in the proposals: 1)"demands" have to be approved within the EXISTING political structure, 2)physical theft or violence would REQUIRE interference from the government, 3)current political entities would absorb this movement, when the feeling in the air is that something ABSOLUTELY NEW is required.
Here is my proposal: create a new national capitol. ONLY that move will be seen as satisfactory when we look back on these events in the decades to come.
But how can this small movement break free from the current oligarchy that controls us? We are doctors, lawyers, and farmers just the same as our founding fathers. Yet, the principles they created have been distorted to serve the oligarchy. These principles should be renewed - WITHOUT money in politics.
In creating a new and better seat of government, we have the most powerful tool ever created - the internet.
I suggest Kansas City, Kansas as a location for this new seat of government. A new and faster internet is being created there. An open and more benign canvas exists at this site. Manhattan is a slaughterhouse designed by the 1%. Land is WAY too expensive.
We'll just bypass "them", and focus on creating a better "us". The energy to do this, exists right now on the streets of New York.

In my mind it is corporate greed (really corporate influence and steady manipulation) that caused the apathy is the first place!
Vote for candidate A or B! Both promise the moon! Neither will deliver a pebble! Both a filled to the brim with corporate cash!
That's why I've been apathetic for so long.
I think your right that defiantly plays into it but what about a person's responsibility to their society? We spend so much time isolating ourselves from each other that we have lost all sense of civic duty. Personal responsibility can't be ignored among all this. What do you think about that?
I'm all for personal responsibility, though mayhaps we define that differently. Personally when I have see an adversity in my life, the first person I blame is me. Regardless of the 'fairness' of any situation, my place in life is the direct result of my choices.
How can he say this and support the entitlist [sic] OWS protests?
It's my fault for not standing up before now. My lack of action to be involved in my government has led me here. I am personally responsible for the state of the corporately corrupted government, whether by inaction, indirect action or direct action.
So it is my personal responsibility to do what I think is best (supporting, shaping, and working with others in the Occupy movement) to live up to that responsibility.
Answer your question?
Absolutely, and I think that is great. I just want so see some real change come out of this not another movement that is hijacked by the political parties due to a lack of focus
Take personal responsibility. Speak out when you see someone trying to represent the who movement as partisan. Make an effort to inform people with out alienating them.
I do.
You are right about informing people in a kinder way. As far as finding the ideologues, 1. you can't find the partisans if you don't know what the group's standards are 2. Politics isn't a zero some game and everyone should be welcome at the table for discussion, at least.
