Some of the clearest and sanest thinking on the OWS protest came out of the mouth of Pulitzer-prize winning Chris Hedges in a recent interview posted on YouTube:
“The real people who are scared are the power elite. Of course, they’re trying to make you scared and us scared. But I can tell you, having been a reporter for the New York Times, that on the inside they’re very, very frightened. They do not want movements like this to grow, and they understand on some level — whether it’s subconscious or, in other cases, even overt — that THE CRIMINAL CLASS IN THIS COUNTRY HAS SEIZED POWER.”
"Hedges went on to say that the protesters should be seen as “conservatives” because “THEY CALL FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE RULE OF LAW.”
So this has nothing to do with "lefties" or "righties", "Democrats" or "Republican". What we are witnessing on Liberty Plaza and all over the country is an epic confrontation between, on the one hand, law-abiding citizens who deeply love America and the Constitution and, on the other hand, those criminals who have hijacked our government and are running the country into the ground, economically, politically and socially.
Far from being "hippies" as the media like to portray them, the OWS people are the quintessential American heroes and the true defenders of Law and Order in the right sense of those words.
And so Godspeed you! Just like the heroes of the Arab Spring, your courage and dedication will live in the memories of men long after you have left this world
