Forum Post: So long Democracy, it was great for a while

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people”, kiss it goodbye. Our great experiment is being replaced by Plutocracy. The dictionary defines it as “government by the wealthy, for the wealthy”. The super rich now own our Congress, Supreme Court, President, and our former watchdogs, the media. Only the wealthy can run for public office. The president will need one billion dollars for his re-election campaign. Most members of Congress are millionaires. Can we change this? Yes, we can and we better do it soon.

Although we have lost the media, we have gained a powerful ally, the internet, but it is under attack, time is of the essence. Facebook “The social Network” has been instrumental in inspiring peoples revolutions in North Africa and the Middle East. They have shown that this engine can be used to exchange ideas and bring changes to rattle their corrupt systems. Yes, we can demonstrate, protest and take to the streets, it worked in the 1960’s. We can boycott large corporations and their products, it’s been done effectively. We can refuse to pay our taxes and face prison. All these involve certain risks and unpleasant circumstances.

What I propose is another easier, safer and effective way to promote change. I’m suggesting using the power of the ballot and not re-electing any present Congressman, Senator, or President. “Re-elect no one” An idea that was tried decades ago, had some success, but ultimately failed. It may have succeeded had the internet been available then. Although we may like our state’s representatives to Washington, we must sacrifice them for the good of our country. Our two party system, Democrats and Republicans can no longer be trusted to challenge the Plutocrats who buy them. We must banish them to the recycle bin of history and vote them out.

We must make our stand in the 2012 Presidential election. Vote for any third party candidate of your choice, refuse to vote for any Republican or Democrat on the ballot. Election statistics show that over 95% of Congress gets re-elected. If a sizable percentage of incumbents get voted out of office, it will send a strong message that we people still have the power to break the stranglehold on our Democracy. Let’s organize and do it before it’s too late. Spread the message, if not for us, then for our children and grandchildren’s future.

Here is a list of viable, alternative American third parties:

The Green Party of the United States

The Libertarian Party

The Reform Party

The Constitution Party

The Socialist Party USA

The Independent Party

It doesn't matter what third party it is, I'll vote for a jackass before I vote for a repubocrat. It's the message that matters. We're just not into yuo guys anymore, CIAO!

actually, we never had democracy, its always been a corporate oligarchy, so we can't kiss is it good bye it never existed.

has been a plutocracy since the start. i think we do need to vote third party, but you miss the problem that all of the aforementioned parties are ideology based- not science based, and thus do not have radical evolutionary viral energy potential. we need to form a new third party and get all of our own people in office.
