I'm registered to vote. I vote every election. But my voting doesn't make me acquiescent to the fact that the US political system is currently stagnant with corporate influence. Until that changes, voting is an empty gesture.

I am NOT suggesting anyone not vote. You need to vote, but we need better candidates.

I agree -- the biggest thing we can do is get corporate money out of politics. That is a tall order, and requires a lot of work and a lot of voter outrage.

[-] 2 points by WhyIsTheCouchAlwaysWet (316) from Lexington, KY 14 years ago

Exactly. It is a massively tall order to fill, but we can do it if we all stand together and quit this absurd fighting among ourselves. Think about what's possible if we can manage that. Also, I like the name. Stay positive and stay proactive.

End private money's presence and influence in our political and electoral systems! Government for the people, by the people! Separation of business and state! United we stand, divided we fall!

To far out of the box? Give yourself a day to think about it and get back to me tomorrow with specific questions.

[-] 1 points by TLydon007 (1278) 14 years ago

I've voted every election since I was 18 (2000 election).

[-] 1 points by jph (2652) 14 years ago

If voting could change anything it would be illegal.

[-] 1 points by partOfTheSolution7 (51) from Chapel Hill, NC 14 years ago

We have changed a lot over the past two hundred years through voting. But change comes in fits and starts. We need a movement like this to get enough determined and/or mad voters to the polls to make the difference.

[-] 1 points by Cindy (197) 14 years ago

Do not vote for anyone accept GP as the write in. General Public. We will be the "deciders". This is a revolution not an invitation to a rodeo.

[-] 1 points by partOfTheSolution7 (51) from Chapel Hill, NC 14 years ago

What does this even mean??

[-] 1 points by kilroy (58) from Orlando, FL 14 years ago

You have a VOICE! UNITE and DEMAND candidates support openly and publicy a unified message if they want your vote and hold them accountable.

SOVEREIGN RULE of the economy by the people and an elimination of money from public office and campaigns .

Vote for who....tweedle dee or tweedle dum?????

[-] 1 points by partOfTheSolution7 (51) from Chapel Hill, NC 14 years ago

Well, you get enough people to express their outrage, so that you have tweedle dum and dee's attention. Identify what you want to change. Then invite them both to endorse your platform and make them be specific. Vote for the one who waffles the least. It ain't perfect but it is better than not voting.

[-] 1 points by cmt (1195) from Tolland, CT 14 years ago

Then a non-Tweedle anything candidate may think it is worth running.

[-] 1 points by gawdoftruth (3698) from Santa Barbara, CA 14 years ago

won't vote if there isn't an option for a non corporate oligarchy candidate.

ron paul is a wingnut. an evil global warming denialist whacko.

obama and co are part of the problem. we need a new third party.

With our vote there is always the option to vote GP (General Public) This is a revolution not a lie to me some more because you may be telling the truth this time. It's too late.

You might be interested in this admittedly libertarian-leaning article regarding why voting is,well - useless. http://lewrockwell.com/peters-e/peters-e102.html And yes, I am registered to vote. I plan on voting for Paul in the primary.

[-] 1 points by partOfTheSolution7 (51) from Chapel Hill, NC 14 years ago

I agree with some of that article, in that we need more choices besides democrats and republicans. We need to make it easier for third parties to enter. But I'm not ready to stop voting; I only think that will hand a blank check to the 1%. Change is slow, but over the past two hundred years, it has happened and for the better. We just have a long way to go.

[-] 1 points by mgiddin1 (1057) from Linthicum, MD 14 years ago

Also, what about the Diebold scandal. Geez, doesn't give you much faith in the system does it? http://thevotingnews.com/national/argonne-researchers-hack-diebold-e-voting-system-computerworld/ If I had any computer skills beyond the basics, I could remotely hack one of those bad boys and put Paul in the White House!! Score...

Needs us for what? Name me one person who cares about us more than they do their own political and financial aspirations? There might be a couple but that is all. We are prisoners in our own country no matter who we vote for. They are all scumbags

[-] 1 points by partOfTheSolution7 (51) from Chapel Hill, NC 14 years ago

I care about this country very deeply. And on top of that, we are all we've got. If we don't try to make it better, what are we left with?

[-] 1 points by DSFreeworld (6) 14 years ago

My Grandfathers, Father and Uncles fought in wars to make this country what it was in those days. They put their lives in the line of fire against tyranny and oppression so that people could be granted the opportunities they have today. These scumbag politicians in Washington and their Lobbyist machine have done nothing for us except rob us of our equality only to make sure that their friends and themselves can live high off the horse while the rest of us starve to death with our families.

I love this country and I hope it turns around but not until the guard changes in Washington and I mean head to toe. They all suck right now and they don't care about any one of us.

[-] 1 points by partOfTheSolution7 (51) from Chapel Hill, NC 14 years ago

I am frustrated too. And I think many politicians are frustrated as well. They are not all bad, just gridlocked. I believe many of them go in with the best of intentions. We should find those who want to make a positive change, and vote out the ones that don't.
