Forum Post: Both parties are corrupt, vote 3rd part

To cause real change we need to change the system. Having only two major parties representing citizens does not truly represent citizens, or ensure what is best for citizens only for the major contributors. 3rd parties are often called a wasted vote, but the vote is only wasted because more people do not vote for it due to lack of knowledge, funding, and media support. I am not trying to push any one parties agenda here as this organization is a melting pot of ideas, merely share information I have found that I believe many here can support. One part that has caught my eye is the citizens party. Their views are centrist with moderate, liberal, and some conservative views. Some important views are campaign finance reform (they don't accept PAC money), end tax breaks for outsourced jobs, no wall street bailouts, audit the fed, limit use of military force, support gay rights, and support fair trade agreements. http://www.votecitizens.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_Party_of_the_United_States

Again this is not meant to push this party on the group, but meant to encourage thought into alternatives to a two party system. I think we should all look at other 3rd parties, I just found this one today and it seems to most support the ideas discussed here.

This is not meant to

or you could vote ron paul who has been talking about what the protestors are upset about for 30 years. doesn't hurt to do some research on candidates who aren't corrupt and who have been fighting for us for a long time. And remember ron paul has ran as a 3rd party candidate before because he dislikes both parties, but he has come to the logical conclusion that you can't win unless you run as a Rep or Dem because the system is so messed up and corrupt.

The Corporations own the parties, the debates, and the voting process. There is a reason 3rd parties don't work, and its because the 1% doesn't want them to. They have a lot of money, and all of the corporate sponsorship.

The best hope is to support the "blacked out" members of the major parties and use their apparatus against them. Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are the respective black sheep of their parties, and I don't see how any of us here could not respect them and vote for them in their races.

Yep, my advice to everyone in 2012 is simply this---VOTE 3rd PARTY or simply don't vote. Send the SOBs in both parties a clear message.

John Adams said:

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.

If Ron Paul fails in 2012 the Republican party will implode and so will the Democratic party. From that We The People party will be created. Unfortunately for a new political party to form and receive enough clout, it could take in excess of 10 years and a powerful cross the borders message that resonates powerfully with most everyone. By then the USA will have been incinerated by its elitists who are wrapping up the mass extraction of our wealth before tossing us as fodder into a new world war to distract us from what theyve done. END THE FED(CENTRAL BANK) before it's too late and vote www.RonPaul2012.com !!!

Ideally we would have NO parties, but a pluralistic party system would certainly beat the "two sides of the same coin" disaster we have now.

The only flaw in your idea is that the American president is actually elected by the electoral college not the public. If you ever want a third party in America you first have to make the electoral college a thing of the past.

While a 3rd party may not win a presidential election this year due the electoral college, that doesn't mean that they can't win congress seats to start the change. Win some seats in congress, then a few more next term and then pass changes. Lincoln ran as 3rd party candidate at the time and won, the republican party was only 8 years old (totally different than today's party).

The Republocrats have no interest in competing with another party - Nader said it well when he said we exist in a dual dictatorship. That is why the People must demand a new paradigm from the political process. We are screwed if we let this opportunity pass us by. Power to the People!

There is a difference!

One of the main pillars of Conservative wisdom is that both parties are the same. Nothing they say is further from the truth. Do not fall for this canard! It is an insidious lie intended to keep you from voting. If both parties are the same, there is no hope for change, so why vote? The truth is that there is a difference. A stark difference!

One party works for the rich, the other party works for all Americans. One party takes money from the needy to feed the greedy, and the other party wants to take money from the greedy to feed the needy. Liberals want to change things. Conservatives want things to stay the same. There is a difference.

One party supports the Occupation of Wall Street, and the other party doesn’t. One party wants to regulate Wall Street, and the other party doesn’t. One party wants to destroy Unions, and the other Party wants to support them. One party wants to tax the rich, and the other party wants to tax the poor. One party wants to provide health care for all, and the other party doesn’t. One Party wants to end the wars; the other party wants them to go on forever. There is a difference.

One party is Myopic, and the other party is Far Sighted. One party wants to feed the poor, and the other party wants to tax the poor. One party wants to help the Middle Class, and the other party is at war with the Middle Class. One party wants to fire Teachers, and the other party wants to hire them. One party wants to create more jobs in America, and the other party wants to create more jobs in Asia. There is a difference.

One party wants to protect pensions, and the other party wants to loot them. One party has a heart, and the other party has Ann Coulter. One party wants to rebuild America, and the other party doesn’t. One party protects the right bear Arms, and the other party protects the right of freedom of assembly. One party believes that the only role for the Government is to provide for the common defense, and the other party believes that the Government should also promote the general Welfare. There is a difference, and anybody that tells you there is no difference between the parties is simply not conversant with reality.

In addition, anyone that blames the Democrats for the current state of affairs has no understanding of who controls the Government. One Party has the Presidency, and the other party has the Majority in the House, controls the Senate, has a majority on the Supreme Court, and is responsible for current economic policy.

So, if you’re angry, and you want to start a real fight, I submit that we should start a real fight with the Conservatives! America has a Two Party System. One party is clearly on your side, the other party thinks you’re Un-American. Pick one.
