Forum Post: This is one of many reasons why I hate democrats

Adelo Rucker and Constance Jaso like taco trucks for the spicy, low-cost fare — and the service is faster than McDonald's, they said. They disagree, however, about whether taco truck owners should be telling customers they can't smoke. "If you are outside, you should be able to smoke," Jaso said.

Rucker was all in favor of a program for putting no-smoking signs around taco trucks in Stanislaus County. "It's an excellent idea," he said. "Secondhand smoke kills people, and it's worse than first-hand smoke."

Armed with a $450,000 state grant, the Modesto-based nonprofit DMC Foundation has convinced 15 business owners with taco trucks in Modesto, Turlock, Denair, Salida and Patterson to sign smoke-free contracts.

Democrats waste money. This is why the country is going broke especially here in California.

$450,000 dollars for no smoking signs to put up on 15 taco trucks that they could have bought at a hardware store for $10 dollars.

This is happening all over the country where democrats are just giving out huge grants for stupid stuff and just draining states all over America.

you can't trust democrats with money.

Good is far too understated when describing Democrats. I am reasonably sure all of them I've seen naked had wingectomy scars on their backs and divots in their heads from removal of their angel wings and halos.

Is this a fact that you are able to acknowledge?....or will you continue being coy and not so funny?

(CBS News) The National Debt has now increased more during President Obama's three years and two months in office than it did during 8 years of the George W. Bush presidency. The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.

The latest posting from the Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department shows the National Debt now stands at $15.566 trillion. It was $10.626 trillion on President Bush's last day in office, which coincided with President Obama's first day.

The National Debt also now exceeds 100% of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, the total value of goods and services.

Mr. Obama has been quick to blame his predecessor for the soaring Debt, saying Mr. Bush paid for two wars and a Medicare prescription drug program with borrowed funds.

The federal budget sent to Congress last month by Mr. Obama, projects the National Debt will continue to rise as far as the eye can see. The budget shows the Debt hitting $16.3 trillion in 2012, $17.5 trillion in 2013 and $25.9 trillion in 2022.

Federal budget records show the National Debt once topped 121% of GDP at the end of World War II. The Debt that year, 1946, was, by today's standards, a mere $270 billion dollars.

Mr. Obama doesn't mention the National Debt much, though he does want to be seen trying to reduce the annual budget deficit, though it's topped a trillion dollars for four years now.

As part of his "Win the Future" program, Mr. Obama called for "taking responsibility for our deficits, by cutting wasteful, excessive spending wherever we find it."

His latest budget projects a $1.3 trillion deficit this year declining to $901 billion in 2012, and then annual deficits in the range of $500 billion to $700 billion in the 10 years to come.

If Mr. Obama wins re-election, and his budget projections prove accurate, the National Debt will top $20 trillion in 2016, the final year of his second term. That would mean the Debt increased by 87 percent, or $9.34 trillion, during his two terms.

You think a lie makes you win? Your "fact" is bogus. Still waiting for you to tell us how much money Bush saved America.

Media Malpractice: CBS Pins Bush Debt on Obama

I've often compared various administration's fiscal records. The honest way to do so -- the only honest way -- is to consider budgets that a president requested from Congress and then signed into law. Budgets are passed during the prior year, so while Reagan entered office in 1981, his first budget was in 1982. Reagan's fiscal record therefore spans the 1982-1989 budgets, George H Bush was responsible for 1990 through 1993, Clinton's first budget was for fiscal year 1994, and so on.

George W. Bush sent Congress a budget request in 2008 for fiscal year 2009. He then signed the 2009 budget into law. At the end of the 2009 fiscal year, our public debt stood at $11.87 trillion. According to the latest figures released by the Treasury Department, it now stands at $14.639 trillion. So, under Obama, the debt has increased by $2.769 trillion.

But that's not what CBS says! Reporter Mark Knoller basically offers a case-study in how the American people are so poorly informed by our media:

National debt has increased $4 trillion under Obama

The latest posting by the Treasury Department shows the national debt has now increased $4 trillion on President Obama's watch.

The debt was $10.626 trillion on the day Mr. Obama took office. The latest calculation from Treasury shows the debt has now hit $14.639 trillion.

It's the most rapid increase in the debt under any U.S. president.

Totally inaccurate. But wait, it gets even better.

The national debt increased $4.9 trillion during the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush. The debt now is rising at a pace to surpass that amount during Mr. Obama's four-year term.

The first budget Bush signed was for fiscal year 2002. At the end of FY 2001, the national debt stood at $5.777 trillion. His final budget was for fiscal year 2009, which ended with a public debt of $11.876 trillion. So, during Bush's presidency, the debt rose by $6.099 trillion. CBS took the $2 trillion in debt run up during Bush's final budgetary year and pinned it on Obama.

Finally, as if our intellects weren't bruised enough, Knoller takes basic facts that absolutely nobody disputes, and turns them into a classic 'Democrats say' passage:

Mr. Obama blames policies inherited from his predecessor's administration for the soaring debt. He singles out:

"two wars we didn't pay for"

"a prescription drug program for seniors...we didn't pay for."

"tax cuts in 2001 and 2003 that were not paid for."

He goes on to blame the recession, and its resulting decrease in tax revenue on businesses, for making fewer sales, and more employees being laid off. He says the recession also resulted in more government spending due to increased unemployment insurance payments, subsidies to farms and funding of infrastructure programs that were part of his stimulus program.

All of that is true, but it's not just Obama saying it -- this is what the CBO says as well.
