so, mr. N.E.P.

you do not recognize that this forum has deteriorated? In part this deterioration has been a result of lax moderation.

Your own response, is perhaps a demonstration of that indifference.

Is it not worthwhile to have a set of alternatives to this forum?

I say it is - unless you have certain commitments to this forum in particular over any of the others.

I say let each forum stand or fall based on it's merits - that is the essence of consensus.

To the admins/mods of occupywallst.org STOP the constantly flowing troll mental diarrhea!

Zen, I pulled it and I apologize - perhaps you missed some recent activity, and do not want this to become a misunderstanding between us. Perhaps I jumped the gun on this, I will let the others chime in.. I was trying to clean things up. The forum continues to flood with a lot of stuff, nothing much can be discussed on the posts. I encourage opinion and debate. These last few days things seemed to be going south. People have been generating posts on registration, duplication, etc , and junk - Some of what is here is legit, some ? The problem is all the hot topics have been flushed, notice when you post now on forum, many of the new ones that appear? Does obama like Beets? There are also a lot of racist ones appearing. I was getting tired of it, and seeing there is no moderation, I was trying to help Legion to you my friend....

I agree - the nonsense can be overwhelming.

I myself, have gone on the attack of others as a result of all of the nonsense, and some of them appear to have been genuine supporters.

It is unfortunate.

I haven't caught all of Richards posts - there is no question some of them have been self promotional. Yet I myself have engaged in self promotion -

so.

Thanks for supporting the movement. Thanks for supporting alternatives to this forum - I like it here, it suits my connection speed - the only way to try to ensure it remains viable is with the presentation of alternatives.

Keep the faith man.

Perhaps this is what it comes down to - weeding it out, and getting upset, apparently they have infiltrated us to an extent. The board is getting slammed with a lot of crap lately, I have to scroll through pages to find what threads I was posting on. Notifications have kept me somewhat on track, but the rest are getting flushed on the start page , I am sure you have noticed.

yes I have. it is in part what I would call a design flaw of the forum. the rest is nonsense designed to blunt our efforts.

we will not be deterred.

Many of the posts lately (Zen, not yours) have been getting out of hand. These links are available , some also appear to be divisive. In my attempt to moderate, it has only made things worse to an extent.... I mean, Italian food recipes, and criminal background checks have no place on here either....What happened to basic opinion, start a post, let it thread and grow? I still see the hidden intent here, and it has been exploited by others. BTW you are still my nominee for write-in ;)

That format looks like an improvement. I have spent some time on "The Truth of it All". The content has been good and the conduct has been very respectful.

I have been frustrated with this one, and started looking for a forum with people who are thoughtful and respectful when they disagree. Hard to find.

In principle I like people to be free but this starts to get like the town hall meetings when the healthcare debate was in full swing. Some people had nothing new or thoughtful to contribute, they just wanted to shout down and intimidate everyone, sometimes even those who agreed with them. That is not a result that benefits anyone nor a tactic that can be tolerated.

It is not unreasonable for those who provide a forum to set rules and enforce them. Then, in the free market, people will choose the fora who operate according to rules that they are willing to respect.

I think that the people with extreme ideas that have little chance of being adopted in the near term have had a chance to expose them and get feedback and have gone away or become a little more practical in their expectations.

Thanks !

There is a person who is writing programs for this site , but so far no change .

She has been contacted , but it seems as if she is really busy .

Too bad for this site !

Thrasymaque is trying to get rid of spammers though . That's a good start !

Check out his post link below .

Imposing a fucked up registration program THAT DOES NOT WORK, is stupid.
