Hi there. I am prefacing this by saying I am not a troll, nor am I accusing anyone of anything. I am genuinely asking for information, not a fight in any way. I feel like it's kind of a shame that I have to even say this, but the last time I posted a question, I was attacked as a supposed "fox troll."
Can someone who is actually in OWS explain what is going on with the situation regarding alleged sexual assaults there? Are women being encouraged not to report their attackers? Is there some kind of group plan to address rape? How extensive is the problem? As a woman, I'd especially love to hear from women on this. What I'm hearing is really upsetting, but I fully understand that whatever mainstream/right wing media is reporting may be total bullshit, so that's why I'm asking.
I suggest you go to the NYCGA pages, there are some reports there regarding the assaults.
What I read was that the accused was turned over to the NYPD by OWS volunteer security personnel.
But Don't let that bit of information spoil the boys fun after all, someone has to distribute misinformation.
I just want to know where the girls are who won't sully OWS by reporting me. Text me your coordinates.
It is now so bad @ OWS the Media Department is trying to regain control of the media story & spin the news in an effort at Corporate Style damage control.

The second sentence (!!!!) is that others are attacking the victim and (horrors) OWS. In their pseudo "we are all so concerned for the victim" writing style the anonymous OWS survivor's support team pretends the real attack is media blaming the victim & the attack is really an attack on OWS.
What a bunch of narcissistic "Political Correctness" "gota watch our media image above all else, regardless the cost to individuals here" radicals !!!

Major media is in the tank for OWS. They will try every excuse to not cover uncomfortable truths. They do this by not reporting unfavorable stories until the competition has made the story public.

There are dozens here online at this forum. On an unflattering to OWS topic Everyone sets up the wall of silence & will expect the victim to do the same.
Bumping this in hopes of getting some info from actual OWS folks.

No - that's why I'm asking. I'm a mom of 4 kids with a job that offers no paid days off. I can't come up there and check it out, so I kind of have to rely on what I'm hearing to figure out what's going on.

At night it is now beyond belief dangerous: Man on man rapes, & Man on women sexual attacks are the norm.

You have already experienced the OWS process once before.:Learn at your own pace.
OWS is run by extremely media savvy "leaders" who claim there are no leaders. For them the media image is the extreme priority.
What you need to understand: @ OWS there is a culture of Peer Pressure to stifle ANYTHING that might make OWS look bad in the media. I have been subject to it on maters completely unrelated & much more trivial than rape.
For rape the pressure is tremendous, so most women take a rape (maybe more than 1) for the revolution.
That is just the way it is at OWS.

OWS was inspired by Adbusters, I can see how media image is an extreme priority. I think it is for most political ventures.
