Idea in support of general strike: OTS (Occupy The Street). This would simply be a work slowdown by driving slower on the morning commute. It's simple: morning commute time due to traffic density already are costly to business. The idea here is to create traffic slowing deliberately (but safely!). All one would have to do is drive about 5-10 miles slower than prevailing speed in morning commute. Get enough people to participate, and traffic speeds will decline a lot, making lots of people late for work, slowing commerce, and allowing for anonymous participation.
This would have to be done safely: only driving slower in the slow lanes, not actually stopping traffic. I'm sure there are other safety considerations like staying in one's car. But for those of us not in a position to strike, and there are a lot of us, participating in a traffic slowdown that makes us late (perhaps very late) for work would be effective if it had messaging behind it (like OTS Day Nov 2!)
More pointless obstructions to just piss people off. Not positive or productive.
I hate drivers that do that. I don't mind when I'm commuting to work, but when I am going on a 400 mile drive (I do this about once a month) and some asshole is cruising slow in the left lane, I have to hit my brakes (wasting gas) and wait for him to take 30 miles to complete one pass. I can't stand that. It backs up traffic, making driving dangerous as well. This is a bad idea, it can't be done safely. Lot's of people don't work hourly anyway, and this won't affect them. They'll just have to stay later than the 9-10 hour days they work already (speaking for the people at my work).
I really think this is a good idea, but only one of many good ideas.
We should also have a world wide day where everyone in support of OWS doesnt go to work, doesnt pay bills, doesnt buy gas or products or anything, and stops paying any kind of debt, etc.
