Forum Post: Do you know what a sociopath is?

Posted 2 years ago on June 15, 2012, 9:40 a.m. EST by ericweiss (575)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Sociopaths are usually defined as people displaying anti social behavior which is mainly characterized by lack of empathy towards others that is coupled with display of abnormal moral conduct and inability to conform with the norms of the society. Some of the other characteristics that sociopaths may display are stealing, lying, lack of remorse for others and towards living beings, irresponsible behavior, impulsive behavior, violating rights of others, and much more. People suffering from Sociopathic disorders tend to be superficially very charming and believable. They also tend to display behavior which include manipulation of people around them, desire to be in control of everything and everyone around them that usually leads to grave consequences and shallow emotions. SOCIOPATH SYMPTOMS AND TRAITS: For a person to be diagnosed as a sociopath he or she must have at least three or more of the below mentioned symptoms. Displays heightened levels of deceitfulness in dealings with others, which involves lying and conning others without remorse. Is so glib about lies, that the person may not know when they are lying. Inability to abide by the social norms. Displays complete lack of empathy for others – family, friends, even animals - and their situation for which they are responsible Laughs seem cold & planned Displays no feelings or shallow feelings only Displays impulsive, self centered behavior Displays no concern for safety of others around them

Research has revealed that since a sociopath never conforms to the rules of the society, he or she is not bothered about the consequences of his or her actions or lies. Such people are also able to inspire like minded people. Some of the other traits that are common in sociopathic people are that they are usually very intelligent and have a superficial charm and they are able to attain great success using unscrupulous methods. Thus they can also never learn from their own mistakes. SOCIOPATH RELATIONSHIPS: Sociopaths are known for their superficial charm, calculative and controlling behavior, which is one of the main reasons why they are able to decieve people and charm them with their smiling faces and good natures in a relationship. Relationships with sociopaths are really difficult to maintain as sociopaths are also masters of deceit and manipulations and they tend to take whole control of the relationship and the other person involved, leaving them feeling inferior. Sociopaths also never learn from their previous mistakes and they tend to commit the same mistake over and over again. They also never hesitate to manipulate their partners to gain control and power in the relationships and as they are remorseless, they use any means and methods possible to retain their control in the relationship and gain more power. Warning signs: inconsistencies between what a person says and does over time excuses or subject changing, when caught in a lie laughter that is obviously “canned” or even rehearsed no feeling of shame when caught an embarrassing situation or lie dodging the question, answering it in a way that doesn’t really answer it ability to sense vulnerabilities and motivated in using them for personal gain or pleasure, manipulate without remorse seeing any social situation as a contest or a test, with the goal of personal gain ability to understand rules & laws and judging them as a part of “the game”, but no ability for empathy or emotional understanding behind the rules disregard for safety of self or others cruelty to animals

And after warmonger shrub destroyed America's image for eight years, imagine you are a world leader dealing with a patholgical liar - sociopathic American president who can't tell what a lie is?

Mittens = Sociopath Poster Child. Beloved of the Corpo-Rats.

It's not like he could sue us. His genetics and brain structure would prove us correct.

a perfect description of obama,

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Perhaps - it could very well be so - got to question his leadership effort and his secret dealings. He is a better actor if so - he even acts human.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

Exactly. He's the better actor, which is why he is a lock to get re-elected.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 1 year ago

Are you a sociopath.?

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

The President has some real power - but it is limited.

That is why the people need to concentrate on owning both houses - in the State as well as in the Federal Government. That is where legislation is created. That is where issues are supported or opposed.

Yes it would be nice to have a Bernie Sanders to elect for President - but without a people oriented Senate and Congress we are screwed anyway. The Peoples president would not have the support required to make good changes for the people.

[-] 1 points by nobnot (529) from Kapaa, HI 2 years ago

What country have you been living in?

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Why because I credited the President with having some power?

[-] 1 points by nobnot (529) from Kapaa, HI 2 years ago

No because you sound like someone that does not have a clue.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Please enlighten me as to my failings.

Well, try reading what you wrote.Oh,and let me inform you that Santa and the Easter bunnie do not exist.

Sorry your comment means nothing. That took you 2 hours?

[-] 0 points by salta (-1104) 2 years ago

as seen on friday, obama feels that he is not limited by the constitution. Article I sec.8, Article II sec. 3. he is behaving like a dictator.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

All the more reason - it would be nice to have a Bernie Sanders to elect for President - but without a people oriented Senate and Congress we are screwed anyway. The Peoples president would not have the support required to make good changes for the people.

We need a good president and good house members.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

People used to start parties all the time.

Now we just bitch on the internet.

Very discouraging to say the least.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

We have an incredible communications tool.

Things need to be hashed out.

Completely.

Education and awareness does not happen in a vacuum.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

I understand that.

But it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize this current thing is fucked and start something new.

It takes people creating in their neighborhoods.

Me talking to someone in Minn does no good. Only makes both of us feel like we are helping, when in fact we are avoiding the hard work.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Yeah - you explain how that is better faster cleaner. Any system that is to succeed needs to include the people.

How do you propose to accomplish a new beginning a fresh start?

How long do you see this process taking?

Do you envision blood in the streets or what?

Come on lay it all out.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

What I originally envisioned when this got going, especially since the tea was already going, was an awakening of action and ambition.

It hasnt happened.

There are various ways to get things going, but none of it is really happening. I know Rocky Anderson is trying to get the Justice Party going, but I envisioned tons of independents running this election.

I see lots of blood in the streets, simply because there isnt going to be enough money for social services.

I would like to see intelligent people gathering and creating new options, and then recruiting. Working with a sense of urgency.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Well and that is what you should be doing as well.

Outreach and education - the word needs to be spread - MSM is a black-out.

So I also think you must not be looking very hard if you can see no progress being made by the Occupy movements.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

No offense DKA, but I was/am way more involved than you are. I am looking. I look at GA numbers and they are WAY down everywhere. I talk with founding members all over, and GA numbers have decimated.

They all have different reasons for such, and I have mine. But the facts are the facts- we are in an election year, the economy is hanging by a thread, the wars continue, and 99% of the population is doing nothing.

It sucks. It really freakin sucks.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

And yet all I see you doing is moaning - OH - all is lost - all is lost.

Yeah that's the way to pump up support - do people who know you to well ever attempt suicide?

I mean you are such a cheerful and positive and outgoing person and all.

How many made good on their attempt fueled by your positive energy?

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

Asshole? I hate to go down the same road as we have many times DKA.....

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Still procrastinating? Go away see if you can do something useful Eore.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

We can talk about issues and what we agree on until we are blue in the face.

Its time for action.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Get to work then asshole and try not to be so damned depressing.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

Dude, really? Have you missed the dozens of plans of actions that I have posted here?

If the fact that numbers are down drastically is not addressed, and corrected, then what the hell are we doing?

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

You might ask the forum. I know what I am doing and I know what a lot of good supporters are doing. They and I are shining light on issues of common cause and are reaching out for unity. We are sharing out issues to other media sites we are sharing out education and awareness and are showing people how they might make a difference. A difference on the street and off the street.

Unity - banding together in common cause.

Moving forward together.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

Well its usually been pretty appreciated at GA's that Ive spoken at. A nice dose of reality. And like I said, I can then follow up with detailed plans and print outlining it to show how it can be achieved. Cant exactly do it here.

Although I have posted our Social Outreach plans on here before, how we did it, and who needs to be in charge of what. No one really commented, because this is more of an internet political chat site than a real reflection. Same for everyone's facebook pages.

Blind optitmism is just as damaging.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Why not ? Why can't you follow-up your dismal attitude with some rabble rousing plans thoughts ideas?

This is a communications hub. Everyone here who is thinking straight is supporting each other and trying to formulate plans and actions.

Not you though - the nicest thing I can say about your presence is that anyone who read Winnie the Poo as a kid will compare you to Eore.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

Had a doctors appointment today.

You;ve been procrastinating for most of your life.

what the difference?

You really want to get into a pissing match? Seems how you dont even try to do anything with your local Occupy?

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 2 years ago

Why don't stop personaly attacking people. You trying to intimidate this guy. You some kind of bully. Post something that discusses the issues that hurt the 99%, and stop going after people.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Still here? Damn you are a waste of space.

I try to use my time and my health such as it is to best result - but Oh - Not you Eore.

Prove me wrong get to work be positive be uplifting - be somewhere else.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

When you experienced everything in Sept and Oct, and then this is what has become of it, LESS PEOPLE, why would I feel like things are going good?

Im not hopeless. Im just saying its discouraging, and the amount of work that needs to be done is much more than most realize.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

I think everyone here is well aware that we are in a gigantic battle. I just don't see you ever trying to lift anyone's spirit. You are doom and gloom. Don't need that attitude not in anything.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

You can ask people all you want on here, its just internet speak.

My organizational skills are fine, and like I said, the rah rah stuff is saved for GA's, obviously.

There isnt a whole lot to be posiitve about right now. Those are the hard facts. Its a lot of work ahead. Would you rather I pat you on the back and tell you that your posts here are making a huge difference?

If I was you, I would be hosting meeting at your house for the local occupiers of your neighborhood, or trying to create something.

I realize your condidtion is limiting, and Im not holding that against you. Im simply stating that this internet chatting is usually not the best use of time for real change.

Fun and entertaining, I love debating, but not very productive.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

Like I said you have a very down in the dumps perspective. Some might say you were here to suck the life out of supporters.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 2 years ago

Well, usually after I say that stuff, I follow it up with "its up to us to get out into the population and shock these sheep back into reality" etc... Not really much point in trying to pump up the internet crowd.

Our next Social Outreach meeting is Sunday @ 5pm. I will let you know how it goes. I am hoping to get Street Teams started again, it was very powerful before.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (25218) from Coon Rapids, MN 2 years ago

If you are as positive on the streets as you are here - Lord help your community. As you are a constant downer here. Ask pretty much anyone who has seen your contributions(?).

Work on it dude.

The criminal is thus someone to be valued by a society, as Nietzsche would have it, instead of looked upon with moral derision. The criminal points out something about society that is in need of change, helping to jolt the rest us out of our complacency. The concept of "punishment" for criminals then, simply amounts to the "suppression of a revolt,"6 in that it is nothing more than an attempt to maintain the mediocre status quo of the herd by imprisoning (or in some cases, executing) those who deviate from it.

http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/travis_denneson/power.html

Marxist intellectual Theodor Adorno criticised such left-wing anti-intellectualism as "actionism," a kind of ineffective "pseudo-activity" which serves to deflect attention from the difficulty of genuinely changing the world, a difficulty which critical thought would make clear.[46]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-intellectualism#Sources

"The man who wants to gain wisdom profits greatly from having thought for a time that man is basically evil and degenerate: this idea is wrong, like its opposite, but for whole periods of time it was predominant and its roots have sunk deep into us and into our world. To understand ourselves we must understand it; but to climb higher, we must then climb over and beyond it. We recognize that there are no sins in the metaphysical sense; but, in the same sense, neither are there any virtues; we recognize that this entire realm of moral ideas is in a continual state of fluctuation, that there are higher and deeper concepts of good and evil, moral and immoral. A man who desires no more from things than to understand them easily makes peace with his soul and will err (or "sin," as the world calls it) at the most out of ignorance, but hardly out of desire. He will no longer want to condemn and root out his desires; but his single goal, governing him completely, to understand as well as he can at all times, will cool him down and soften all the wildness in his disposition. In addition, he has rid himself of a number of tormenting ideas; he no longer feels anything at the words "pains of hell," "sinfulness," "incapacity for the good": for him they are only the evanescent silhouettes of erroneous thoughts about life and the world." The sociopathic corporations have depressed the economy with their greed, every chance they've gotten since they regained power in 1952. Eisenhower was elected after twenty years of New Deal progress for the majority. The worst reversals suffered by we the people have occurred since 1980. How can the cons, with a straight face, demand austerity for their victims to compensate for their MIC fraud and other social crimes? It's no surprise that in the aftermath of the biggest financial/corporate swindle of all times, they're after the victims again in the 2010s – or that it's sold by pumping us up with fear and nationalistic fervor, while they simultaneously erode our freedoms. Derived from: How Does That Work? https://www.createspace.com/3852916

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 2 years ago

Agreed. It is offensive what the right wing has done to the 99%. seems impossible for OWS to succeed but we must grow and be heard. It will take years to undo the crimes against the middle class.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 2 years ago

Fight against right wing anti 99% policies: repeal citizens united/corp personhood, support stronger fin reform, support healthcare public option, increase wealthy taxes, lower middle class taxes, Forgive middle class cr card/student debt. repeal patriot act/ndaa. support unions/living wage/worker ownership of corps. reward onshoring, penalize offshoring of jobs/assets/hq's. Vote the issues.

[-] -1 points by shadzhairart (-357) 2 years ago

Obama is not pushing for any of those solutions! OWS is. Out of here government water boy! It's time for grassroots solutions. WE DON'T NEED POLITICIANS.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 2 years ago

I won't mention politicians, I won't mention parties, I won't tell you how to vote! I say agitate on the streets for these issues if you believe because they hurt the 99%. Shadzhairart does not support these efforts because he is anti Obama pro repub partisan plant.

[-] 1 points by OccNoVi (415) 2 years ago

Another term is "malignant narcissist." Consider Mitt Romney as a 21-year old:

http://occupywallst.org/forum/slandering-bishop-jean-felix-albert-marie-vilnet-f/

There is a lot to that post. And no way that Romney's not mentally disordered. Lying is a way to dominance while truth reveals weaknesses.

Police came to believe that he had died in the accident. No investigation was registered.

Bishop Jean Vilnet has a Wiki page.

[-] 0 points by 2percent (0) 2 years ago

Let's get it on the table, is OWS supporting Obama for 2012? Why are so many post slamming Romney? No one has an issue with Obama drone attacks on people all over the world? I guess if you kill people you don't have address interrogation methods that were responsible for intelligence leading to the Bin Laden killing. Gitmo continues to operate while Obama stated he would close the compound. Come on, if OWS this is a Dem website, let's have some transparency!

[-] 1 points by ericweiss (575) 2 years ago

Do you have any idea why Gitmo is open?
Seriously?
Obama tried to close it but the Rs refused to fund a different location.
Look it up!
We did not elect a king. Almost everything that we wanted him to do was blocked by the Rs
