Solidarity to the #MarchForBernie in NYC today [30th Jan] at 3pm in Union Square and 4pm at Wall St. No OWS - NO Bernie Sanders PotUS campaign! The Zeitgeist,The 99% & the groundswell are with him!

Zephyr Teachout!!! She should be supported simply on the strength of her extraordinary name, if nothing else!! However, her real and sustained commitment to The 99%, is NOT in any doubt whatsoever either!

Bernie is trying to pull back the centre ground of US Polytricks back from the bat-shit crazy, RWNJ end of the spectrum, where successive generations of Democrap Pols have all too happily followed the GOP!

the establishments compromise to keep the current government system is a weak bid that can't even condemn killing

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 8 years ago

You think Bernie is - "the establishments compromise''?! You might accidentally talk like an anarchist revolutionary - but what do you propose people do - sit on their hands and stay at home?!! F*ck That!!!

I do get that u r against war and violence, but what are u FOR? I personally have not been on this forum for nearly 52 months just so that I can fly a flag for self-righteous, ideological purity because, though I'm clearly a Socialist / Leftist or whatever other term/label you may use ... I see myself as Primarily a 99% Pragmatist & if u want to get deeper re. forward strategy, well this lovely lady says it better than I could:

At some point Matty, folk like you have to come off the fence, pick a side & try to get with The 99% and into The Fight! Wasn't that what OWS was actually all about?!! Do nothing because people aren't perfect is just a conservative recipe for more of the same - but ''F*ck That'', I say .. today, tomorrow and forever!!!

a) For you to stop brainfarting glib replies before you at least think about and formulate your responses!

b) To NOT be expected to reply to your oft real time replies without getting irritated at your abject failure and/or refusal to think about the prior reply to u & so trying to maintain a modicum of reasoned debate!!

and c) For you to reply after at least reading or watching a li'l of that being proffered to u - in good faith!!!

"Bernie Sanders Is Currently Winning the Democratic Primary Race, and I’ll Prove It to You"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/seth-abramson/sanders-currently-winning-democratic-primary-race-ill-prove-to-you_b_9528076.html

Bernie wins regardless because of how he is watering the seeds that Occupy Wall Street planted, but he actually could win the election. And, if you look at it from the point of view of where he started in terms of name recognition and where Clinton started, well, it's obvious that he is winning.

''Bernie wins regardless because of how he is watering the seeds that Occupy Wall Street planted ..'' & here's insight into the history and reality of The Ideology That Won't Speak Its Name and what we're all up against AND why - The Struggle against this 0.01% Tyranny is so, very, Very, VERY essential ...

"Neoliberalism sees competition as the defining characteristic of human relations. It redefines citizens as consumers, whose democratic choices are best exercised by buying and selling, a process that rewards merit and punishes inefficiency. It maintains that “the market” delivers benefits that could never be achieved by planning." From that excellent piece by Monbiot.

Bernie's platform tries to turn neoliberalism on it's head. Hard to imagine why any of the 99% would be against that. If they only knew....or understood....

''What Does a Socialist Movement Look Like?'' by Elizabeth Schulte

The exposure, identification and opposition to Crapitalism's Neoliberal Orthodoxy - is now of Utmost Importance & will take time and effort. It is THE 99% Struggle of our time. Solidarity to you & yours.

"Take the results of this opinion poll conducted during the Occupy Wall Street movement, which started in New York City's Zuccotti Park in September 2011 and spread to cities across the country in a matter of weeks. The survey found that 59 percent of adults either completely or mostly agreed with the protesters, and just 31 percent mostly completely disagreed.

Remember, this was a movement that challenged the greed of the 1 Percent and the corruption of the political system that served only the rich -- and that called for the 99 Percent to rise up against them. Three in five adults thought that sounded right to them."

So Sanders didn't invent the critical attitude toward corporate power and the two-party system. But he helped give expression to it -- and in the last place most people would look for it: the U.S. presidential elections."

Sanders did a great job at taking the torch of Occupy and spreading the ideas to millions of people. Now we have to wait and see what awake Americans will do. There is the question: What will awake Americans do with the knowledge they have acquired?

[-] 1 points by ImNotMe (1488) 7 years ago

''Sanders did a great job at taking the torch of Occupy - and spreading the ideas to millions of people. Now we have to wait and see what awake Americans will do. There is The Question: What will awake Americans do with the knowledge they have acquired?'' - repeated because it bears repeating!

With a few possible tactical errors, Bernie has played a poor hand very, Very, VERY well and he's still in the game & at the table .. with folk like us hoping he's got a loaded & cocked derringer up his sleeve. Time will tell but I get (even if I don't agree bcs he should've gone Indy By Now!) - why he'd want to take it to The Contested Convention in Philly - so as to Force The Super-Delegates Fix for Hellary.

There are 5 ways Bernie gets to The General Election in November - a) The Dem Sup.Dels miraculously come to their collective senses & realise ONLY Bernie can guarantee a win over tRUMP; b) That Bernie goes Fully Independent (probably too late for that now); c) That Bernie respond to Dr.Jill Stein's previous overtures & join Greens; d) That HRC gets FB-Eyed and indicted & - e) That she drop down dead! While wishing the last and seeing the others as unlikely and impossible, increasingly c) .. Remains The Stand Out Aspiration! Also fyi, please consider ...

No, Bernie won't be going on to win the nomination. But he was victorious in spreading the message and it's all about the message, really. The awakening of millions of people is what truly matters.

Now, what those awake people do next is what is momentous. I'm hoping they stick to what they believe in and they support Jill Stein realizing that she is the best option. I'm hoping they deny the lesser of two evil routine and stand up for what is right.

Bernie helped millions of Americans to sort out what it is that they actually believe in and now it is up to them to act clearly and decisively and only vote in people who stand for their ideals.

The following is from "The Long Victory of Bernie Sanders."

http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/36843-the-long-victory-of-bernie-sanders

"This was his message. Low pay, economic inequality, Wall Street crime, looming environmental catastrophe, free or affordable education; he gave the same speech by rote for more than a year because the message cannot be repeated often enough, and in doing so, Bernie Sanders inspired millions. He showed us what we can be instead of what we are, and it was balm for the soul. The most unexpected presidential candidacy in modern American history very nearly pulled it off.

That gives me hope. There are a lot of people today walking around with their heads down, and rightly so: This Trump v. Clinton contest is a perfect nightmare, made entirely for television and with all the honor and character of a hard fall down a long set of stairs. No matter who wins, we will all lose. People got invested in the Sanders candidacy in a way not seen for decades. His departure is like the tolling of a grim bell, solemn, distant and gone, leaving only a hum in the ears to remind you it was there at all.

But it happened. By God and sonny Jesus, it happened. For a time, Bernie Sanders showed us something other than fear or corporate hegemony or permanent war. He showed us our best selves with a bull-throated roar, and people listened. He reminded us that despite what we hear from the media, the struggle for justice and equality is far from over. His departure from the presidential race signals no end point in this fight; that it happened at all is proof positive that the ground is richly fertile for genuine change."

''Building a Progressive International'' .. by Yanis Varoufakis:

From which, I excerpt .. ''Politics in the advanced economies of the West is in the throes of a political shakeup unseen since the 1930s. The Great Deflation now gripping both sides of the Atlantic is reviving political forces that had lain dormant since the end of World War II. Passion is returning to politics, but not in the manner many of us had hoped it would.

''The right has become animated by an anti-establishment fervor that was, until recently, the preserve of the left. In the United States, Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is taking Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent, to task – quite credibly – for her close ties to Wall Street, eagerness to invade foreign lands, and readiness to embrace free-trade agreements that have undermined millions of workers’ living standards. In the United Kingdom, Brexit has cast ardent Thatcherites in the role of enthusiastic defenders of the National Health Service.

''This shift is not unprecedented. The populist right has traditionally adopted quasi-leftist rhetoric in times of deflation. Anyone who can stomach revisiting the speeches of leading fascists and Nazis of the 1920s and 1930s will find appeals – Benito Mussolini’s paeans to social security or Joseph Goebbels’ stinging criticism of the financial sector – that seem, at first glance, indistinguishable from progressive goals.

''What we are experiencing today is the natural repercussion of the implosion of centrist politics, owing to a crisis of global capitalism in which a financial crash led to a Great Recession and then to today’s Great Deflation. The right is simply repeating its old trick of drawing upon the righteous anger and frustrated aspirations of the victims to advance its own repugnant agenda.''

YES .. ''Bernie helped millions of Americans to sort out what it is that they actually believe in and now it is up to them to act clearly and decisively and only vote in people who stand for their ideals.'' and tbh, in 2016 ... ONLY Dr.Jill Stein still does that!

''Democracy Spring and the US Voting Matrix: How Much of the Electoral Process Is Illusory?''

by Candice Bernd:

With excerpt - ''Since many of the barriers to voting are covered separately in the news, it's hard to get a picture of the US's full matrix of disenfranchisement. It's time to examine all of them as a comprehensive set of problems that exist simultaneously for many voters and non-voters alike.'' Also fyi, consider this ..

I saw Zephyr Teachout several months ago. She is a very bright, articulate, dynamic young woman. She was the moderator at a TPP seminar at the Unitarian Church in New York. Kevin Zeese, Margaret Flowers, Jim Hightower (a syndicated columnist), and Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen were all there to give a presentation.

Ms Teachout was in the trenches in early Occupy, and I was unaware of it when she moderated, but she grew up in Vermont. Also unbeknownst to me at the time, I learned that her Dad, Peter taught Constitutional Law to one of my daughters at VT Law School. The last coincidence is that she is a professor at Fordham where that same daughter did her undergrad work, although she never met Ms Teachout.

I don't know what it is, the clean air; the maple syrup (lol); the colder climate, or the rural lifestyle, but to me, there seems to be a real high percentage of preponderant young women who come from Vermont, and are ready to take on the World. Ms Teachout is definitely one of them. Kudos to them all!

'' * '' = TWINKLE and after NYC's superb ''March For Bernie'' earlier today .. what better way to relax, yet use our time than to watch the documentary that Trump has tried so very hard to have banned from TV?!

Zephyr Teachout (I'm still a bit awed by that name, lol) - appears right at the end of this important video:

It's a testament to just how RW Democraps are that anyone can consider voting HRC after seeing that!

We need more Zephyr Teachout's to rise up! Thanks for sharing, :).

[-] 3 points by Viking (417) 8 years ago

EDIT - short video added. Agreed! Today, I got an email request for a campaign contribution from Ms Teachout. I guess that's the down side to her not having a corporate PAC.... lol. She is going to plug into the "Mayday PAC though," which is nationwide and was formed to promote candidates who wanted campaign finance reform. They call it the "the PAC to end all PACS..," and their motto is, "embrace the irony."

Their candidates have not done so well in the past, as they were still being out-spent. That will change though as yet more people awaken, and turn off the corporate-owned news media. Less money for good people to win will be needed when more people realize that we have been manipulated by big-monied interests.

This on-going exodus from the corrupt MSNM is very encouraging, and it portends well for our struggle.

I love that most Millenials don't even watch t.v. bar Game of Thrones and Walking Dead and stuff like that. They do not have the t.v. on all day messing with their minds. The internet is what will bring the revolution of thought that we need.

I'm going to follow Ms. Teachout as she moves along. I think, if nothing else, Bernie Sanders has laid the groundwork for the left to continue to rise up.
