It's kind of like the Adams Family....

[-] 0 points by freewriterguy (882) 12 years ago

our fathers have already fought for this country why do us children need to slave away for 30 years, (nearly each and every citizen) to buy it from bankers? Land Patents, transfer ownership to the children, and it includes exemption from the us government, as in all interest in the land is released forever! The lack of Land patents prove our land was stolen from us by our government

[-] 2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

True. Land 'ownership' in this country is NOT what most Americans think it is. In fact, it's a complete illusion. You cannot OWN land in the US. You only rent it.

Why beat around the bush, it is the oldest 1% trick in the book judge not what they say but who says it. It has worked for the 1% think tanks for decades, I have been studying them for thirty years and I am their worst nightmare so come on think tank boy let’s play.

property tax is like an annual rental fee

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

much lower than rent though.

[-] -2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Yeah, you get it. Don't pay that tax and see how long you 'own' that land. And we're not even getting into things like 'eminent domain.' Try to fight that in court.

[-] 0 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

sell oil and the government will let it pass

[-] -3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

It's amazing what the government will 'let pass.'

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Is it better to own? or rent?

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Technically, it's almost always better to own rather than rent. The question, though, is what 'ownership' actually means here in the US. If you're sincere about being interested in why some of us question the concept of land ownership, go to Wikipedia and look up the term 'fee simple' and some of the other links. It's not the easiest shit to understand, and legal terms often have more than one meaning as you know, but the way I interpret it (and I'm not alone) is just what I said in my comment, that ownership is an illusion. Apparently what you 'own' is an 'interest' in the property, not the property itself.

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Yes I came that conclusion as well almost 20 years ago. Ownership is what it is. I assume you also came to the conclusion that landowners have a better deal in our great nation as well. Always have, Always will.

Right?

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Landowners have a better deal than what? As opposed to other countries?

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

landowners have a better deal in America than non landowners (renters). I can't speak for the situation in other countries.

[-] 2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

I agree. They do have it better than renters.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Whoa! holy shit. The planets must be aligned or somethin'

That is an agreement. Wow.

I'm not worthy.

Now how about this.

Elect progressives like Sen Bernie Sanders! huh??

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Yeah, I felt a bit of a rumble beneath my feet as well. It just goes to show you I'm not as vindictive as you. For example, I've never created another username for the express purpose of down-voting people I don't like.

Which does bring up a comment I'd like to address to your 'imagine40' moniker. My calling Lennon a dick in his earlier years is not a refection of my opinion of the man. I respected him, and the fact that he lamented his bad behavior when he was young shows what a truly good man he eventually became. He was the only Beatle (IMO) with even a modicum of talent. Except for Best, of course.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I think that George had talent. And of course Georges heart was in the right place like John.

What about the Elect progressives like Bernie Sanders comment? You don't agree?

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

George was a decent musician (but not superstar material) and definitely a good person. Sanders is awesome, from what I've been seeing recently.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I agree regarding Georges ability. Even John was not necessarily a superstar musician. Writer definitely. The thing for me about both is that they cared for other people and used their fame accordingly. Too few people or celebs pay any mind to other people. It is most important for me. The best measure of a person, how they treat others, The best measure of a society, how they treat the poorest.

But I'm ramblin' Sorry

[-] 3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

Damn, VQ. It pains me to say this, it really, really pains me, but I may have to give you a 'like' for that comment.

See, man. That's how you're supposed to use them. Not as a weapon or to inflate you're obviously fragile ego. And at the risk of speaking the obvious, when you do, in fact, vote yourself into the hallowed supreme position of 'top karma dog,' which you and I know is one of your major goals, you'll still be the same ol' VQ.

That's not a compliment, by the way.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

The numbers are meaningless! We get nothing for them. I don't care.

My goals are to

  • Find progressive solutions for the problems of the 99%!

  • To challenge the fallacy that the parties are the same.

  • To challenge any unfair, inaccurate criticism of dems.

  • To convince people to work within the system by electing progressives, and voting out conservatives.

  • to support efforts to create a new system, from the bottom up, horizontally, with real direct democracy outside the system.

What are your goals? To insult me? As you do repeatedly!

[-] 2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 12 years ago

If you think those numbers are meaningless, why do you spend so much of your free time up-voting your own comments? You think people don't notice? Nobody, I repeat, nobody here has their score skyrocket like yours. Nobody has every one of their comments on a thread get three, four, and five points. Nobody but you. It took you two months to get to 2500, two weeks to double it, and now your numbers climb at the rate of over a thousand a week. Hell, in the three days I've been gone your number has jumped over 1500. No offense, V, but you're not that popular here. Guaranteed. Deny it all you want, but those numbers are more important to you than probably anyone else here. It's the only 'rank' you have here, and your earlier comments about 'ranking' being such a part of your youth, that's what you're doing. Ranking is juvenile pecking-order bullshit, V. Grow up.

I insult you because I don't trust you. I don't trust people that have a serious problem with the truth, which you obviously do.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I haven't lied to you! "Ranking" is a term from my childhood that refers to insulting each other. Not voting or measuring.

I DO NOT care about the numbers. I cannot confirm your comments about my number growth because I do know my number growth as well as you do.

I can tell you that my numbers have fluctuated widely. Up and down.

As a result I am not keeping track. They ARE meaningless!

It seems to me though that certainly creating other logins to upvote oneself seems like it might be against the rules. As such there is no way I would admit to that even if I were doing it.

I have spoken to other friends on this site that might upvote good people. Is that allowed?

You have no reason not to trust me. I have always been and will always be honest with you. So your insults have nothing to do with that. In fact like several other people on this site you only insult me when i don't agree with you.

So forget the numbers, grow up, and stick to respectful discussion because that is the right thing to do.

I would prefer would use the word "war" for violent actions only

it is he violence which must end

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Violence must end. I agree! I know of the the 2 options we have, our best chance to end the violence is with the guy who has reduced our military actions, & killings. Certainly not with the party that created theendless war on terror as an economic policy.!

[-] 2 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

There are more than two options.

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Not 2 real options. If we encourage swing state progressives to vote for Green party we will split the left and deliver that state to the right.

Are we pretending that splitting the vote doesn't happen?

Or are we trying to serve the republicans?

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

or communists
