Now That We Got Our Guy Reelected Why Don't We Do Something About The Issues??

Light years ahead of you, Sunshine!!

We had to clear the Con threat first.

But they still control the House, that's where the money comes from. And there are still enough in the Senate to block anything and everything ~ Fuck things up!

We need to start a Petition Of Shame!

Shame them, to force the WILL OF THE PEOPLE on Congress so that they are shamed into capitulation and compliance!!!

Freedom to marry! Freedom to carry! Revocation of CU! LABOR UNIONS for all! Green energy! Maximum wage! Livable wage! End the wars! Close GITMO! Instant Runoff Voting! Third Parties! RW Hate Radio regulation ~ like porn (which hurts no one)! Deregulation of Porn (which is nowhere near as obscene as RW Hate radio)! Label Fox Lies "Lies"! Prosecute the Bush administration (while there is still time)! On and on!!!

But we have to do it now, while the tears are still wet!!!!

OK, we have interest. So let's make a list, consolidate it, and produce a PDF (or?) and make a printable link to produce a postcard (Petition Of Shame) with numbers(?) gravitas. Please contribute suggestions.

You said "you/we" had a super majority in CA who were you talking about?

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 11 years ago

the democrats

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I did not realize you were a supporter of the democrats, good to know, I am too I think they are a good way to keep Republicans from office, that being the most important action anyone can do, sometimes people have even a better choice like Sanders, I don't know how King will work out but we will see.

[-] -2 points by bERNARDmARX (37) from New York, NY 11 years ago

True but your guy did gt whipped by a coalition of progress tht you are not part of.

[-] 2 points by NVPHIL (664) 11 years ago

I see some good ideas but they are focused against the right. How about we protest ndaa, drone strikes, and the other attacks upon the people obama has supported.

[-] 2 points by bERNARDmARX (37) from New York, NY 11 years ago

No problem. And let's have OWS revoke its call for intervention in Syria. That would be an excellent start. They seem to have shadow banned it here themselves but the world did see it and trying to erase one's own history is a hallmark of hitlerism and stalinism.

[-] 2 points by NVPHIL (664) 11 years ago

I agree. We need to get out of the region. I'm tired of spilling blood so the oil companies can keep control of the region.

[-] 1 points by bestevidence (170) 11 years ago

Can you imagine what must have been on the minds of the OWS people who own this forum when they put out a call for intervention in Syria? What were they thinking? Why do they now run away from it? They owe us to share in the name of transparency, no?

[-] 1 points by NVPHIL (664) 11 years ago

They wanted to help spread human rights. The problem is our country will be useless in the struggle until we get our shit together.

[-] 1 points by bestevidence (170) 11 years ago

Read something about Syria that is not corporate Zionist propaganda. OWS leaders should do the same. Also they should explain why they shadow banned their own post. What was the process? Transparency please.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

If you are talking about jill or rocky, then you are right about the whipping, but it was done by bipartisan fascist media machine.

[-] 3 points by bestevidence (170) 11 years ago

They got a repudiation that they richly deserved. Right minded people are not soon going to forget the perfidy of you stealth Republicans.

[-] -3 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I think you already stated that in the post below me haha.

[-] 2 points by bestevidence (170) 11 years ago

It bears repetition.

[-] 2 points by bERNARDmARX (37) from New York, NY 11 years ago

Their perfidy will be long remembered. They got the ass whipping from progressives that they deserved.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Progressive wasn't the majority vote for Obama, the average dumb American was. Same for the other half of the illusion, Romney.

U R Hopeless.

And unfortunately...

U R Not Alone.

[-] 1 points by bERNARDmARX (37) from New York, NY 11 years ago

Look up the demographics of the two camps.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

How many progressives voted for the candidates for President.?

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Yep!

Ready to shame? Or just here to COMPLAIN?

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Nothing happens here on the site. It happens in the streets. Go get your Dem loving crew and get going.

[Removed]

[-] 2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I dont think the campaign would appreciate you speaking like that on a public website. Well, they did give up on coopting a while ago, so I guess the next step is to marginalize and label.

How does it feel to be played?

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

I have an itch on my back, is that it?

Nevermind, got it

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

[-] -3 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Petition!

We are moving on. Move On!

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Better get off the computer and get out and find some people to help you then...What city are you in?

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

You don't know what a petition is either, do you?

[-] 2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Online petitions arent nearly as effective as in the streets and door to door petitions.

The door to door ones give you a chance to engage and also find people in your community who want to help with further drives. Its a multiplier effect. EAch one get three is the mission.

Plus it gets some news exposure, and forces the conversation on people.

Let me know what city you are in and I may be able to plug you in with some people.

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

It is over. We must focus on remaking thesystem, from the ground up, horizontally, w/ direct democracy. Do you know how that is progressing?

We must fight fpr the change that will help 3rd parties succeed. (movetoamend, nationalpopularvote, opendebates)

And we must agitate all pols for change the benefits the 99%.

The election is over!

Are you against on line petitions.?

How did your 3rd party guy do?

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

not good enough

Jill Stein received 396,684 or 0.3%

President Barack Obama received 59,725,608 or 50.3% Governor Mitt Romney received 57,098,650 or 48.1% Gary Johnson received 1,139,562 or 1.0% Roseanne Barr received 48,797 or <0.1% Rocky Anderson received 34,521 or <0.1%

http://asad123.com/2012/11/07/how-many-votes-did-jill-stein-get/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CESh9GaQLrk rocky has some good analysis. too bad .1 percent hear it.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I wish a 3rd party had a chance. But we still must fight for change that benefits the 99%.

We must expand ouor goals beyond Stein or a 3rd party.

Let's for 3rd party access, but lets also pressure all pols for change that benefits the 99%.

Peace

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Anybody know about user-friendly links to print an image?

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Hard Copy Petitions!!!!!!!!!!!!

[-] -2 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Eat our votes, Con-Troll!

We have the numbers (60+Million), Cons have the shame!

Let's extort them for a change!

[+] -4 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

In other related news!! Chris Matthews is thankful that hurricane Sandy hit the East coast because he said it was a boost for Obama

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

no need to attack the partisan pundits.

We must come together to find a focus for our activism.

What will you protest/agitate for?

[-] 0 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

Higher taxes. Immediately. We also have whole states like PA that are unemployed and need free shit - start mailing out the 'bama checks. And also, we'd like a complete withdrawal from Libya and Syria.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

The whole state of PA is NOT unemployed what are you talkin about?

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Hey, sorta kinda got the "thing" started. I'm a file and program dummy though!! Middleaged has been helping me.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Postcard is good.

list of issues/or 1 particular issue with facts illustrating it's importance, and solutions.

Also should include a link (to online petition) to get people online to sign a petition that we could present to OWS as our contribution to helping focus their efforts.

Using an existing online petition site (change.org, credo, signon.org) will give us a built in email list.

Issues to cover, Citizens United, living wage, increase wealthy taxes, Punish outsourcing. Greentech jobs.

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

So you found it?

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

no. I could not open the yahoo link you included.

Send it again.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

What is a 'bama check?

[-] 0 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

That's what we voted for in PA. The whole state voted for European styled taxation, governance, and 'bama bucks - we're waiting.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

the election is over. Let's focus our energies on protesting for change that benefits the 99%.

What change do you want.

[-] 0 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

First and foremost, I want an immediate revamping of our present tax code to address the fiscal crisis; either that or we eliminate the Fed.

There is nothing that is more important; nothing.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Well it will have to be addressed and soon as the tax cuts are about to end and there are automatic budget cuts set to kick in come the 1st of the year - if the taxes are not revisited and resolved.

[-] -1 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

January 1st. But bear in mind you have to get around the House, which is not likely to happen. So we're talking more tyranny here but I think it's doable - do it.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

The House WILL be a problem. Let's see if they are willing to cut taxes on the middle class.

[-] 0 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

The House is not yours; they will not aid you in any way - what this calls for is a dictatorship - do it. And then pay off this debt.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I can't create a dictatorship. Sorry.

The only way to make progress on thedeficit is through compromise.

That has been a problem with teas party repubs so that's what we will be watching.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Ok. what kind of revamp? raise rates on the top 1% plutocrats?

Cut taxes for the working class.?

[-] 1 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

Obama has already raised taxes on the working class and this trend will continue. Hollande was talking about raising taxes on the rich to 70%; do it.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

You want to raise wealthy tax rate to 70%?

[-] -1 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

Yes. I also want to confiscate all assets in excess of 5 mil.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Um........are you feeling ok there, Brython?

[-] 0 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

Absolutely. I'm serious.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Ok boss. I hear you. If I could make that happen I would.

We will make progress on the deficit without a doubt. I don't think we will get everything you listed. But I have no doubt the deficit will be well on it's way to being a surplus for your grandchildren

Peace.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

deficit not that important, need input with card

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

LOL. I don't believe you.

Why would you confiscate all assets over 5 mil?

[-] -1 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

This government's spending has made it the enemy of the people. You were correct to state that the rich created this mess and unfortunately they are so disconnected they have no idea how much the tax burden impacts the average people of this country.

I have two grandchildren aged 2 and 2 months; by the time they are ten years old, I want this deficit eliminated - I want to see a significant surplus. On Jan 1st, I want you to convene your people to revamp the tax code; I want you to increase taxes on the rich to 70%, and strip them of all possibility of tax shelter, and then liquify all personal assets in excess of five million to aid in reduction of the national debt. I am dead serious.

After that, we will discus our social welfare; do you understand?

[-] -3 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

2) Townhall Meetings with Your Congressmen Setup on an Agenda Only to Discuss Corporate Welfare is another by Ralph Nader. Get 300 people to attend these kinds of Townhalls.

It's really hard!

I just did a test list of categories and a couple subs/points and it's three pages long.

We need to consolidate into a 10 - 20 category list. And do a break out for each one. The list and one breakout per card!!!

Now how do we format it so it's printer ready? Anybody?

Petitions are fine, but Occupy the steps of the Capital in DC. If arrested, go back after getting out. Keep doing the same thing over and over and over for years if necessary. Get maximum media exposure if possible. Catch status quo politicians off guard and ask hard questions while capturing interaction on video. Publish video on the Internet. Expose status quo lovers and neo-cons at every single opportunity. Hope for a "47% moment" that will go viral and continue to expose the irrationality of their positions to the light of public scrutiny. They will seek to scurry away like cockroaches exposed to light. Replace all cons and neo-cons with progressives in order to get years of suppresive policies and legislation reversed and reinstate sanity to the country.

Join in, please. VQkag2, bERNARDmARX, and you, brightonsage.

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

Well I would start by looking at the list we never created of all of the issues that have been raised. It would have been nice if some one kept one or more of the lists that were actually created on this page. I would divide them by where they get solved e.g. local, state, federal statues, U.S.constitution.

Pick off some of the obvious one's that are hot right now like voter suppression, uniform laws, regulations, equipment, software and processes for elections at all levels. Puts everybody to a test of good faith.

Reform of filibuster rules, agreement on expedited confirmation of appointees.

Consolidation and restructuring the executive branch (the studies are done just waiting for implementation).

Cuts to the military budget to a max of double the combined budgets of our two largest adversaries (Russia and China, with arms reduction/capping aggrements) and plans to redirect the resources, manpower etc. to major STRATEGIC infrastructure programs

Establish a program to implement policies to flatten the compensation structure to a gini coefficient of .35 to make us competitive with the developed world.

Renegotiate trade agreements to level the wage/human rights disparity.

Balance the budget in 10 years and reduce the debt by half in 20. The changes above will make that feasible.

Is this where you want me to go?

[-] 1 points by NVPHIL (664) 11 years ago

Add strong anti bribery laws and close the revolving door between washington and corporations. Our regulators need to regulate and not try to set up a cozy after congress job.

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

Yep, I agree with all of that.

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Yes Organizations should be rated based on the Ponderous Over-Weight Compicated Compensation Packages given to Executives, Board Members, Director of the Board, CFO, COO, CEO, President or whatever.

The GINI Coefficient Target Range or Baseline is part of this Solution. Stopping corproations from Paying US Ratings Agencies is another part.

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

The whole financial regulation piece is fully implement what you can under Dodd-Frank (replace Shapiro). Some of the Banks are getting out of the trading business on their own. Finish that aspect of Glass-Steagal. Put Bair in Bernanke's job.

The business model of ratings agencies has to be changed to align their interests with the buyer's end of transaction or nationalize them. (Pay them as a utility). Generalize conflict of interest crime as statutes, expanded beyond money to other consideration, like jobs, consulting contracts, scholarships for their kids etc.

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Those are more good Ideas. Here is a Distraction. The Post is about Solutions, Petitions, etc.

But as you mention Appointments...Cynicism arises. I have a list of nearly 50 regulators that should have become Whistle Blowers in the 2008 Financial Crisis. We could Elect Regulatory Heads or Appoint them. But the fact is the Process has Risks of Propaganda, Conflicts of Interest, Politics... So maybe you need to tell me to Stay Focused on the Post and on Solutions.

Radical: Break the US into regional Federations and Breakdown the Corrupted Federal System. We need National Defense centralized in Washington DC, but Let Regional Federalations Dole out Federal Dollars for Infrastructure Projects, Schools, ...Terminate the Federal Reserve System... Break up Wall Street TBTF Banks ... in favor or Regional Banks: Savings & Loans separate from Commercial.

But Regional Systems can be corrupted too ...and they lack the huge Budget that Federal Reserve and Wall Street banks have to Fund National Emergencies.

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

I think you are on the right track. The only suggestion I am not comfortable with is the Federal Reserve. Clearly it needs fixed but I haven't decided the fix that would work best. I still think it should be national but the governors are too incestuous.

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Yes, I have never gotten into State politics. I am blind in that area.

1) Federal Reserve provides Cash to banks in any bank Run 2) Federal Reserve acts as Lender of Last Resort
3) Federal Reserve Acts as the Controling Interest in setting Bank Lending rates/Interest Rates (correct me here)
4) Federal Reserve has been buying up tainted assets from mortgage investors and banks
5) Federal Reserve Buys and Sells Federal Bonds/Tresuries, operating a Checking Account and Savings Account, absorbing federal treasuries if there are no buyers or many sellors.

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

You are essentially correct. Some of the mechanisms are essentially controlling the supply of money and some of them are trying to regulate the flow be setting interest rates. These actions affect the underlying decisions and terms of transactions in the market. As a lender of last resort they took the unusual step of putting derivative bundles of mortgages on their balance sheet. This essentially removed the risk (that people couldn't accurately assess because of the rigged rating system) that prevented private investors, banks and pension funds etc. from buying them at "reasonable" prices. Over time experience is showing what the actual risk is and there may be a real return to the Fed when these are sold. Fed "profits" are transferred to the Treasury annually and I don't think there will be major losses. An important issue that remains is the effect on the money supply when transactions of this magnitude occur. The Chairman believes that when inflation goes up as expected it can be managed without raising rates to levels that hurts the economy or raises the interest we pay to refund the national debt. That is why we need to have a financial plan which raises revenue and cuts the the debt over a reasonable period of time. Doing this properly will keep confidence in America high and interest rates on our debt which is set in the marketplace, low.

Every country has a national bank and we couldn't function without one, contrary to what some libertarians believe.

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Guess you are not buying gold coins. I sort of fear some damage to the US dollar. Good response. Still wonder about the profit from derivatives bought by the feds.

Separate issue. We would like Interest on Savings Accounts. If the Fed is playing with it's tools all the time ... Retirees won't keep up with inflation ...or may get back into Risky investments. Young professionals too. Somehow we need to Separate Interest on Individual Savings accounts from the Federal reserve Tools and Stimulus ... and Bailouts of banks (4 years and still Running). This is a Real ISSUE since rates were lowered after the Dot Com Crash in 2000. So Savings accounts have done poorly for 12 Years

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

I don't happen to be. But I do have some inflation protected bonds, US and International. They sure sacrificed us to the big banks. They get money at less than free and collect interest (very small) but if you borrow a $trillion and free and only get 0,01 % interest, you have no risk and even at very low interest you can't complain. But they won't lend us a $trillion.

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Capitalism. Hey you should have a class action lawsuit for those TIPs. Inflation is clearly higher than government numbers. Tuition, Drugs, Medical Costs, Beef, new cars, housing or apartments, transportation, property taxes, eating out, drinks, etc.

[-] 1 points by brightonsage (4494) 11 years ago

Of course that game is also rigged but even knowing that it is, it will pay a little better than treasuries and won't go down as badly as interest rates go up, as the inevitable will.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

"by setting interest rates" ;)

I think fear has driven down the interest rates, the money sets in government safety nets.

The amount of money doing this now is a problem because:

I think that the major drain on the economy is the concentration of wealth, the very thing that was needed in the last century to build the economy now slows it. We have an ideology based in the capital driven rather than a customer driven economy, as shown by the tax cuts creates jobs crowd.

The concentrated wealth is mostly unearned and scared and so sets in government bonds.

Tools are just tools. You can hit someone in the head with a shovel. The shovel is still a good tool. And by the way, the sharp end goes down.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

MA, you seem to have the banking-biz topic down. One consideration: the RW tendency to split the economy into national economy and the finance world. That way one has no responsibility of/for the other.

In a list of categories, Business/Finance being one, would you like to flesh out concerns, reforms, changes, etc? Perhaps a postcard in size list. not too crowded. Then maybe break it into three card parts and include Economy. And maybe one with all three. ? Ideas for a Link?

Business Finance Card:
So we are all Boiling Frogs and we need to educate people on the Loss in Wages, Jobs, Standard of Living, Higher Cost of Living, Folly of Government Statistics, Folly of GDP that uses Financial Transactions as real growth in the US Economy, Folly of Shadow Banking, Financial Crisis, ratings Agencies, Independent Auditing Agencies, Total Global Derivatives to GDP, Size of TBTF Banks, Money in Politics, and the Folly of Public Private Deals and tax abatements and corporate Welfare

Tax reform and End Tax Loopholes Card:

Scrape the current federal income tax scheme in favor of a progressive tax that only allows 5 deductions, recognizes wages and earnings the same way, investment dividends and short and long term profits and loses are treated with an exclusion for the first $15K earned, then taxed at 24%, interest rates for two mortgages can only be deductible up to $100K per house, there would be no such thing as a lower tax rate for "carrying fees" earned through business. This tax plan will get Lawyers, Tax Lawyers, Accountants, Tax Accountants into other economic activities that could be helpful to the GDP and may have a multiplier effect on the economy (hopefully we can get more financial managers into manufacturing also). This may also reduce the number of IRS employees needed to review tax forms. Outlaw Deferred Wages since they erode tax base and obstruct visibility of Executive Wages Earned (nontransparent).

A) Progressive tax with few deductions from 14% ($1-$22K per year) 16% ($23K-30K per year) 18% ($31K-38K per year) 20% ($39K-$49K per year) 22% ($50K-$60K per year) 24% ($61K-70K per year) 26% ($71K-82K per year) 28% ($83-$95K per year) 30% ($96K-120K per year) 31% ($121K-$1.5M per year) 32% ($1.6M- infinity) B) All wages, tips, carry fees, income treated the same C) Rich people pay full Social Security and Medicare taxes D) Allowed to own two houses and deduct up to $100K per year per house, additional houses are called investments and you can't deduct the interest paid from income taxes E) Head of Household and those with dependents can deduct health insurance premiums (capped at $20K per person), copays, drug costs, and medical bills F) Investments are encouraged, loses and gains are only calculated when actually sold stocks, bonds or other financial instruments. G) Pensions are not taxed by the federal government unless they exceed $100K per year in which case they would be taxed at the lowest rate or 14% H) Personal deduction allowed, plus deduction for dependents and spouse

Congressional Gifts Reform Card:

http://occupywallst.org/forum/28th-amendment-congressional-gift-rules-too-big-to/

Freedom of Information Reform Card:

http://occupywallst.org/forum/28th-amendment-congressional-gift-rules-too-big-to/

Corporate Ethics Reform Card:

1) Insert National rules for mission statements and objective statements.

2) Insert National rules for ethical behavior in goal statements.

3) Mandate that US Legal Organizations Strategic Planning clearly state and addresses the community, environmental, financial interests of the government in unemployment, job preservation, and social safety nets that may be affected by job losses created by mergers and leveraged take-overs by hostile or unfriendly firms that may saddle the organization with huge debt.

4) Make all US Corporations, Fountadtions, governments, and legal organizations incorporate mission, objectives, and goals that are ethical and transparent to the public and employees.

5) US Strategic Planning as practiced in the US is focused as it is on it's own goals is acting like a maverick, acting like a loner, acting to the exclusion of national identity and responsibility. US Organizations ARE Acting like an off-shore privateer, a pirate, or a disinterested party.

6) There is nothing wrong with forcing corporations to serve the country if not the community by being transparent. I think we would expect the same of NGOs, Foundations, PACs, 501 (c)(4) organizations, 527 organizations (soft money), and any legal entity formed or incorporated in the USA. US Legal entities must be better citizens or state economy participants.

7) Corporations can be actively manged and one way to do this is to force biggest Corporations to be incorproated at the Federal Level as national corporations ... the reasoning goes that states are passive and let corporations do whatever without any oversight, managment, regulations, or enforcement of rules or parameters.

[-] 1 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Economic Stimulus Card;

1) Get rid of the Central Bank (since we know they are in bed wtih the people that they are supposed to Regulate, the Revolving Door from the Treasury to Big Banks to the Federal Reserve proves this is one big "Club"). No one knows why the FED was created in secrecy without congress anyway.

2) Break Up All Banks that are too big to fail with Antitrust Laws (separate commercial banks, investment banks, and savings banks).

3) Stop Foreign War over 500 Miles from any one US State.

4) Stop asking the Governent to Create Jobs.

5) Stop asking Businesses to Create Jobs.

6) Fully Fund Social Security and put money behind a Firewall (that is why we called it a "Trust").

7) Extend Unemployment benefits another year

8) Bring Army Troops back to permanent stations in the USA from Japan, Korea, and Germany. This means building (Stimulating) more housing, barracks, training facilites, and maintenance facilities. It also WILL Stimulate the US Economy as their money is spent in the US.

9) Create Incentive programs in K-12 through small Grants of $2000 - $4000, and in Colleges and Tech Training Schools of $5000 - $6000 to test new inventions, create contests in science, agricultural labs, greenhouses, etc.

10) Close the Department of Education since it has failed.

11) End the War on Drugs and transfer DEA agents to other departments since the mission has failed (the SEC needs help).

12) Create some kind of Minimum Tax on Progressive Scale without Loop Holes as a "kind of alternative minimum tax" that applies to the Rich and to Capital Gains, Dividends, Carrying Fees. This will get Lawyers, Tax Lawyers, Accountants, Tax Accountants into other economic activities that could be helpful to the GDP and may have a multiplier effect on the economy (hopefully we can get more financial managers into manufacturing also). This may also reduce the number of IRS employees needed to review tax forms. Outlaw Deferred Wages since they erode tax base and obstruct visability of Executive Wages Earned (nontransparent).

13) Overturn NAFTA and CAFTA laws. Go to a Tariff system on imports (start at 1%).

14) Stimulate manufacturing with "Economics Free Zones" in states and cities across the USA which would remove barriors to businesses, reduced taxes, reduced liscenses, reduced certifcation requirements, no unions, reduced sales tax, reduced production tax, reduced capitol investment tax, maybe customers would not have to pay sales taxes either.

15) Stimulate manufacturing by providing small grants to trade schools and to students toward teaching them about business and how to start a manufacturing enterprise (laboratories, agricultural plots, energy and alternative energy testing projects, chemistry projects, hazardous waste control technology).

16) Stimulate manufacturing by identifying banks that would lend to new businesses, establish new small business federal loan programs at federal loan rate of 6% or 8%, identify technologies that will be trends in the future and will be focus of federal loan program (waste disposal, recycling, energy, autos, mass transportation).

17) Stimulate business creation with additional public works programs, and energy technology programs grants, loans, reduced production tax, sales tax, capitol investment tax, for businesses with capitolization below $10 Million Dollars that will produce energy or manufacture capitol equipment utilized in the energy industry.

18) Make Health Care Portable across State Lines ending monopolistic Insurance Programs.

19) Make all Student Loan Interest Rates go down to either 6% or 8% to end the predatory rates from financial organizations who get their money for free or nearly free (Fractional Reserve Lending) and who now use profits to Lobby Congress.

20) Break up the TV/Cable Monopoly with Antitrust Law. No media owner/corporation/cabal should have the power to advertise talking points and call it news.

21) Outlaw Lobbying Congress and Gift Giving to Congress (i.e. free hotels, free dinners, free vacations, free conventions, free plane rides). And accepting gifts/contributions from foreign entities by congress is treason. Campaign contributions shall be set at the same limit for all US Citizens, but corporations and PACs shall not contribute to congressmen/women. Congress shall raise money through books and speaking, but can't sell books to PACs or corporations or some rich entity.

22) SEC must be bolstered with full backing of US Treasury if it is to face big banks in civil court to discourage criminogenic behavior.

23) SEC probably needs manpower of 200 additional agents and FBI probably need 10K additional as per Bill Black to investigate Fraud and Criminogenic environment. DOJ will need a new Secretary since Eric Holder has differed Prosecutions.

24) Corporations need to be rated not only on their risky behavior, and for hiring unqualified personnel to create mortgage loans or other financial instruments, but also for the amount of leverage they use and lack of reserves they keep on hand (transparency is key).

25) Corporations need to be Rated for all consumers, investors, or potential business partners with regard to transparency and independent audits of Off Balance Sheet Transactions. GAAP rules are the goal for US Businesses (transparency).

26) Politicians should be Rated and Evaluated when they intervene/pressure Federal regulatory offices and agencies. For Instance it is said that congress interfered with the IRS audits of Rich people in the past. The real danger is that political pressure can allow regulations to be bent without the politician knowing the full context of the US regulations or the Lobbying Entity's Activities (Context is crucial to all US systems).

27) Make Banks become "Utilities" like water or electric with profit controls, leverage controls (less than 10 to 1), fractional reseve controls (minimum on hand assets), Interest Rate controls (Student Loans at either 6% or 8%, Small Business Loans either 6% or 8%), Off Balance Sheet transaction controls (to make explicite what is allowed and what is prohibited), and transparency of credentials for bank loan officers and mortgage specialist.

28) End the Revolving Door Between Federal Regulators and the Industries they Regulate. There are rules that exist that prevent government employees from working in industry jobs for a period of 5 years under certain conditions and circumstances. Disclosure Forms can be used to keep up on job changes of government employees that want to move from the Treasury or another agency to work for the entity or industry they were sworn to regulate (this forces people to chose their careers and stick to their decisions).

If you Post a PDF or Word Doc on yahoo Groups page, the format should be permanent. Should print the same for everyone. Guess Apple printers are smart enough to print the same way.

You would just start a Yahoo Group called OWS Postcards and Petitions, then should be (used to be a tab for uploading Files or Aps) you can upload 20 files as the Group Owner/Manager.

Any Internet Cafe should have MS Word & PDF also.

The wage issues! Maybe wealthy tax increases, can be one paricular petition. No?

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

OK, let's start with one. How can we establish numbers? Both physically and on each card?

Need to make list. I'll amend the post. Let me know of any ideas.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Living wage ? $20 per hour.

Wealthy tax increase? 90% on $1 million income, Also 5% on cap gains over $250k. 2% pat down national debt, 1% SS, 2% pay down working class cr card/student loan debt.

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Million dollar buy out: must be over 55, buy a house, retire.

Student loan principal-only (or less) amnesty.

Capital gains 15% higher than working wage tax rate.

Recession Tax for wealthy, sliding from $850K...

Tariffs ?

[-] 2 points by Middleaged (5140) 11 years ago

Recession Tax sounds interesting. I think you mean Top Rate $850 and reduced from there. Maybe you are thinking a Minimum Income level does not pay?

I am a pundit when it comes to tax policy, but tried to look a little last February. You know Domestic Policy partly might be about encouraging investment and marriage through tax policy. I have written some thing about a tax policy. Was just wanting to add some minimums and maximums. We can encourage people to buy homes or 2 homes or 3 homes, but don't let them write off more than Interest on $600K worth of homes. Here homes go for $200K. My home is not paid for and worth like Less than $100K and is like 60 years old. Seems I over paid for it since I have many problems.

But on Capital Gains for Main Street ...we don't have any Interest Rate on savings. We could allow Capital Gains to allow up to a house payment without paying capital gains. To me that would be like $15K in Capital Gains before being taxed. As it is I don't trust investments, but it does teach, it does encourage some particpipation in the investment system, it educates.

So Perhaps you are Proposing Domestic Tax Policies and Trade Tax Policy

A) Tax Credit for Health Care Premiums, for family, for self
B) Tax Credit for Education Tuition, Loan Payment, Interest on Eduation Loan
C) Tax Credit for Home Ownership through Home Interest Tax Credit
D) Tax Credit for Medical Bills for Family, Self
E) Tax Credit to encourage Investment, Capital Gains, Long term Gains up to Maximum of $20K with 3% increase per year for inflation
F) Tax Minimum $150K for Recession Tax, above this you get taxed for causing the Recession (could index by city though if this Income level is questioned). Recession tax could target Professions, but the Investors would end up skating on it. Investors could live anywhere. Make Recession Tax 2% of Yearly Taxable Income.
F) Amnesty on Tax on Civil Court Awards for Legal Fees, Medical Fees, Damages: completely, and Amnesty on tax on award for punitive damages up to $200K, then Tax only on Punitive Award for portion above $200K.

The Gist is encourage investment, but don't punish those that seek redress in Court through civil suits. Home Ownership is good. Education is good, Investing and saving money is good, Punish Fraudulent Industries through Recession Tax, and Don't punish those that have been harmed or injured and seek Redress through the court.

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

Great stuff!

Would you like to do Tax category? I think I had it as a sub of economy or government.

It's a postcard, space is limited. But there will be other postcards.

First we need a list of categories, then we flesh out the categories with general outlines. (ie. TAX: Raise capital gains tax to 45% (15% higher than average income tax); Lower income tax rates for low wages (30+% for a $30,000 income, 15-% for Cap Gains $30,000 is outrageous); Institute Buffet Rule; Institute Recession Tax (progressive from 250K/Y) etc etc

Tax: might go under Economy, too. And the sub would be general (ie. make fair). etc etc

Perhaps a long form in depth breakdown would be good for reference, but not a postcard.

We could rough out a list right now, but need a link to access it/put it on?!

What do you think?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Buy out? not sure what that is?

I like the student loan, & cap gains idea. Wouldn't agrue w/ the Recession tax.

Tariffs can be tricky but I would support any corp (dom, or foreign) that wants to sell to the American market MUST hire some percent of Americans to manufacture some of those products.

I also thing there needs to be a pollution travel cost added to anything that travels from far away. That would be a tariff.

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

It's all tricky.

In consolidation let's refine.

Sending more people in, please work together.

Buy out: pay 1 million dollars(2?3?) to qualifying people to retire, must buy house. Good for economy.

We had tariffs until Raygun, pick it up, modify as needed. Got to work that out.

Pollution: Big Fossil, like tobacco used to, is getting away with costs on society. Tax(?). Something that promotes green energy(?).

Love the ideas. Have more people coming in. You can take over until I come back tonight. I work late. List of ideas, list of ways to do it. Simple. We'll have cards going out before Friday!!!

[-] 2 points by Karlin (350) from Nelson, BC 11 years ago

Ya - Polluters pay - that makes renewables an even better deal.;

How about Election Reform, so this crap doesn't keep happening where only the 1% can get nominated, where money makes the difference [the winning contender has to spend $100B??] instead of ideas making the difference, and where global warming and military budgets cannot be mentioned because your big money contributers will back out!!

Military budget reduction {that thread got a lot of play here!!} - and the whole stupid global sandbox bully thing - can we get around that somehow? {PS - the US military is the biggest single user of fossil fuels on the planet, therefore a huge polluter, so three issues in one here!!}

Corporate power.... its a huge messy issue, where to start?

Wall Street - the "financial industry" is not needed!!

[-] 0 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 11 years ago

OK, Great!

Let's do some postcards.

Need help with link.

First we list categories, then flesh each one out.

Election a subcategory of Government, or separate? See?

It could be a very very long list. Got to keep it short and sweet.

Corporate part of Business, or separate? Economy? Finance?

Let's make a list of categories that fit on a post card, with room for one fleshed out.

What do you think?

[-] 2 points by Karlin (350) from Nelson, BC 11 years ago

Good idea, lets get going,. organise - some of us on each issue maybe?

Economics might be a starting point - Ellen Brown writes about public banks - North Dakota is the only state to have their own bank, and they pulled through the 2008 crash better than other states; Interest payments end up putting a lot of money in the pockets of the Elites who own private banks
