how is this racist some guy asked her why she voting for obama and she said because he will give us free phones. If anything this just shows how sad our voting system is and that people are idiots.

If she was an actress and did this with the intention of making black voters looking stupid yeah that's racist but for now its some guy who witness this and filmed it. i see no foul play here

[-] 2 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

It is also racist if people are going around pushing this video, regardless of whether she is an actress. He probably got a lot of footage that day. He didn't have to post that clip. The mere fact that there are more than 2 million views on this video suggests that there is racism involved.

[-] 2 points by Mooks (1985) 5 years ago

She is pretty gully. I don't know if an actress can pull that off so well.

I do agree though, it wouldn't have the same affect if she was just some poor white woman super-psyched about her new phone. I am sure there are plenty of those too.

[-] 1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

IDK, look at all of the African American actors in the MSM who are forced to portray stereotypes.

[-] 1 points by Mooks (1985) 5 years ago

They usually have all their teeth though.

[-] 1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

He could have easily slipped her a Benjamin.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

your view of a racist is wrong. We have come to a point where most people unlike yourself view people for people. When most people watch that we are disgusted not by the fact she black but by the fact she is so misinformed about the issues.

Now lets look at the racist video in detail he ask her about the phone and how to get it.

"Original Obamaphone Lady: Obama Voter Says Vote for Obama because he gives a free Phone" does it mention that she is black, No it does not.

lets look at the description to see if he mentions if she is black "Protester outside of Romney rally explains how Obama gives all minorities free phones and that is why they should vote for him. Cleveland Ohio, September 26, 2012 (Added: This lady told film maker that she was NOT being paid to protest. Others in the group said that all were from SEIU. This is unconfirmed for this lady.)"

he does get risky with this by using the word minority a dirty word in today's media. So from a political correctness point this video looks ok to me.

[-] 1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

You missed my point. No, I am not foreign. I was suggesting that you are, since you are claiming to be a highly intelligent engineering student, but yet your writing is full of weird errors. Maybe you were just going really fast, I was honestly not trying to insult you.

No, I don't think the issue is uninformed voters. Period.

The issue is that the right-wing is using racial stereotypes to promote their agenda of ending the social safety-net.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

So only foreign people can good at school and engineers that's some thin ice right there some might even call that racist. Be careful how you word things like that

Really ok, i still think our media and what is available to the general public without going online is less than par and would like to see a general change in our media.

I haven't seen anything in ads that would suggest racial stereotypes but i have seen it from others on both side of the field.

[-] 0 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. I was taking you at your word that you are a highly intelligent engineering student, even though you apparently have trouble with English.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

yeah i do but hey engineer i dont write normal papers and when i do i spend more time then on a forum that doesnt really matter

[-] -1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

Funny. I don't take a lot of time with my posts, but it doesn't come out like ADHD pigeon English.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

.....useless post meant to insult me cool but yet calls me the troll

[-] 1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

OK, so I'm the racist? STFU dumb ass troll

[-] 0 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

no you're using the word racist wrong. In viewing this as a neutral person i'm seeing people bring up race on an issue that isn't worth bringing up.

Will i shut up no im a rational thinker. I'm an engineer im paid to think rationally and being a true neutral person pisses a lot of people off because i bring ideas back to reality.

[-] 0 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

You can still be an engineer (I'll play along, even thought I'm sure you are a RW troll) and have no common sense or instincts about people. You are also apparently pretty arrogant about your intelligence, so you will probably be in denial about your lack of common sense, people skills, insight, etc.

Racism is endemic in this country. If you can't see that, then I'm not going to try to convince you in this post.

You know, just because you can turn in your physics homework on time doesn't mean you're better than everyone else. Food for thought.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

No i'm no right wing troll in reality i hate republican party just as much as i hate Democratic party.

haha i laugh at the thought of being anti social. There is no way for you to know my social life and i cannot explain it to you especially online. But you could ask the girls and other bar patrons i was hanging out with last night if i was anti social. Yeah im still in college so antisocial nah i dont think so.

to the racism, in this country it is dying most people under 30 dont view this as an issue. Why im saying your using the word racist wrong because racist should be a word reserved for extreme hate such as the former KKK,Nation of Yahweh and Nazis. those people are racist but not the guy filming this video.

There is prejudice in the world but it is so miniscule that i do not view it as an issue. It is the video because prejudice that because it is called Obamaphone and that the woman is black or that the phone is for blacks. Now if she knew that the law was signed under bush would she still call it an obamaphone who knows. So comes down to not an issue of race but why are voters so misinformed and what can we do as a society to shed light on this problem. That's why as a society member i chose to point out problems with an unbiased finger and not be lenient because of ones skin or political background.

food for thought im actually trying to make the world better and clearer for my fellow man. Im doing this because i know as a smarter individual i must do that. And your right turning my physics hw in does not make me better than anyone but using that knowledge to benefit others is what makes me better. the fact that im smarter is just a fact. i wish everyone was just as smart if not smarter it would make the world a whole lot better.

[-] 0 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

OK you have like zero humility. I'm not trying to pick on you, but you are leaving out a lot of articles. I'm guessing that you are either asian of Russian. I'm not sure why you picked the name "DanielBarton" if you're not a troll.

The Nazis were great engineers. They didn't exactly make the world a better place.

I strongly suggest that, as someone who was not born in this country, you study the history more to understand how engrained racism is in our society.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

No im not being modest right now because i have been called out and now i am explaining my reasoning. Its not like i tell every person in wal-mart iI smarter than them. We are having a discussion on here.

I am Daniel Barton good luck finding me

But i am not Russian or Asian but i am of mix decent with multiple races . I know it is dying down because no one will care if you are of a different race in my age group.

German engineers help us achieve space flight and developed a great way of making roads along with many other great things. German engineers and Nazis not the same thing. Not every German during WWII was Hitler. i suggest you read up on history. i have read up on mine plenty of times

Now back to the issue do you see this video as a prime example of the need to educate voters in American? Also since you moved into this country can you vote?

[-] 0 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

"Not every German during WWII was Hitler."

The problem with Nazi Germany, as with slavery in the US, was that everyday people were complacent with the satus quo. My point was that the type of intelligence that it takes to be a good engineer, has little to do with what makes one a good person.

You sound much more like a young high schooler than someone in college. Most college students have matured past statements like "the fact that im smarter is just a fact i wish everyone was just as smart if not smarter it would make the world a whole lot better." If you are really in college, than that's just sad.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

ok on the German issue we cannot agree which is totally unrelated to the present issue so lets drop it.

If something is true it is true not my fault i know im not the smartest in the world but i know i smarter than the average duck. So that statement i said i will stand next to it. Why the insults of me being in college i deserve to be here i have worked and climbed the ladder so to speak. The maturity of my comment is not an issue i've heard much worse from people far older than me.

so do you still want to judge my character or do you actually want to discuses the issue.

Do you think there is a problem of misinformed voters?

[-] 0 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

I'm sorry that you don't understand racism in the US. You should read this book:

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

thank you for the link it is a book that i have read parts of it once in one of my history classes. So i do understand the present issue of what you think is a problem. Other than a few instances of racism society as a whole is not racist what we are witnessing are the few ill effects that are still trickle down from the previous generations. The issue of racism will disappear if we let it.

ill ask again Do you see this video as a prime example of misinformed voters.

[-] 1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

"So i do understand the present issue of what you think."

I am not trying to be mean. I just find it hard to believe that you are a brilliant college student and that English is your first language. If you want to convince me that you aren't a troll, stop trying to be someone that you're not.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

oops forgot to finish my thought there i fixed it "So i do understand the present issue of what you think is a problem." Yeah im still a really good college student even though i have a few grammar errors. Even brilliant writers have to have a an editor for just that reason.

So Tommy continue to insult me call troll do what ever. Ignore what ever issue you want i dont care anymore.

and again ill ask two questions

Do you see this as a video that shows misinformed voters?

Since you moved here can you vote in our elections?

[-] 1 points by conservatroll (187) 5 years ago

Oh come on! Does your mommy still check under your bed for you every night for the boogie man?

That video would have as many hits if it were a dude, an American Indian, an Asian Indian, Hispanic, Oriental or (gasp) a GOOD OLE BOY.

It's amazing how many see racism everywhere since the Great Unifier took office. How Ironic/

[-] -1 points by TommyNYC (730) 5 years ago

It's amazing how many racists come out of the woodwork now that the president is black.

[-] 1 points by conservatroll (187) 5 years ago

I think most racists considered it a mea culpa to vote for that incompetent Democrat in 08.

[-] -1 points by podman73 (-652) 5 years ago

Also how many people cry racism when someone disagrees with them and they have no argument. That video was not racist at all, where it was a paid actress or not. It shows the mindset of Obama voters regardless of color.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

I have but one thread to offer you.

Yes, in many instances, it IS about race.

[-] 0 points by podman73 (-652) 5 years ago

Sometimes i don't doubt that, there are racist of every color it's just ok to be a racist if your not white. I don't understand why it's tolerated one way and not the other.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

I guess that's because you've never directly experienced it.

You should probably actually read the the thread, instead of jerking your knee.

[-] -1 points by podman73 (-652) 5 years ago

Actually I have (I guess the knee jerking thing goes both ways) experience it. I was making an observation, you don't really have an answer, I'm not shocked no one seems to

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

You didn't read the thread either.

Not a single comment on what is in it.

I'm not shocked at all. I expected it from you.

[-] -1 points by podman73 (-652) 5 years ago

We both know what to expect from each other no big change there. I read to the point I commented about that makes sense, again I was making an observation of whih you seem to avoid no big shock there.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

So then you approve of all those bumper stickers and signs.

Thanks, at least I know what to expect out of you from here on out.

It doesn't paint a pretty, nor an accurate picture.

[-] 0 points by podman73 (-652) 5 years ago

My car has no bumper stickers on nor will it ever. People tend to think only things thy agree with are accurate, if you have no comment on what I said just say so....no big deal.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

The problem here being, that I provided links and info, and you didn't.

In fact nothing but "right" wing talking points deserving of FLAKESnews, in the provided comments.

That's it. All you provided..............diddly squat.

[-] -1 points by JackTG (-194) 5 years ago

Are you obsessed with FLAKESnews?

[-] 0 points by Clicheisking (-210) 5 years ago

"Probably got a lot of footage"? While I am always concerned with racism, and yes this is still a VERY racist nation, you aren't going to prove your point by supposition.

[-] 1 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 5 years ago

Nobody is giving me stuff so it makes not voting even easier.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

That legislation has been around a while, and was for landlines. It was only recently that a couple of cell phone providers decided to hop on the facsist wagon and get involved. And I believe it was under Obama that it happened.

PS- I've heard tons of people in the hood refer to em as Obamaphones, so I dont think its terribly racist.

[-] 0 points by alva (-442) 5 years ago

you can go on line a register to get an obamaphone, complete with 250 " free minutes". AND if you get someone else to sign up you get more " free" minutes' the entire bill is payed for with your tax dollars. the link to this is www.qlinkwireless.com the " universal service fund " on your bill pays for this

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Cell phones were added in 2008 before Pres Obama was elected!

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Ok, so it was under Bush. But everyone refers to them as Obamaphones, so I guess they need to start calling them Bushphones.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

"everyone refers to them as Obama phones"? Nope! Mainly just right wing wackos (like Rush) who are desperate to create the false narrative that this Pres is expanding welfare to "pay off" black people for their votes.

It's untrue, racist and therefore disgusting.

Why would you perpetrate it?

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Well in the neighborhood I do a lot of work in, its all black, and thats what people call em.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Please. I don't believe that for a minute! I live in NYC and black and white people know enough to see this as a weak right wing effort to appeal to the "silent majority" the old nixon southern strategy, a clumsy attempt to make Pres Obama look like he is just a black man trying to take white peoples stuff and give it to undeserving blacks.

Racist lies.

That's all it is. If Rush is pushing it, it must be a lie. Right?

[-] 2 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 5 years ago

Obama said he doesn't mind the term 'Obamacare'. Why should he? Maybe it's the same with 'Obamaphone'. I swear people argue about the dumbest things.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Debating the racist effort to smear the 1st black president is not "dumb"!

Sorry. This is an evil plan, along with the lies about Obama removing welfare work requirements.

Right wing racist lies.

All racism should be challenged! That ain't "dumb". To ignore it is to be complicit with the racists. To minimize it as "dumb" is to allow it to flourish.

Please refrain.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Im not saying that, especially since this video came out, that the media isnt going to be doing their usual divide and conquer strategy.

Im just saying that Ive been hearing people refer to them as Obamaphones long before this video ever came out.

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

I disagree. You might have heard right wing wacko racists but that is accepted republican strategy.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

You now you are telling me what I have heard over the last few years? Really?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

That's right!

I know where this racist crap comes from! You offer no real provable evidence so it is easy to disregard it.

Just a right wing effort to spread a false narrative!

I don't believe you! Really!

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

You dont have to believe me, and honestly, anything short of bringing you to work with me is not going to change that obviously.

I have no reason to lie. So believe what you want.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

I believe the truth. The evidence is clearly that this is a right wing effort to appeal to racists.

If Rush Limbaugh is pushing it, there is no question about the dishonest goals.

[-] 1 points by MsStacy (1035) 5 years ago

The Obama phone woman has a wider implication beyond presidential politics. We keep looking at the symptoms of what's wrong with society and not the cause. The cause is people. People are generally greedy. That sickness isn't limited to the corporate world.

That woman appears ready to make a serious political decision based on how much free stuff she can get. People have the system and government they deserve.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 5 years ago

this is a very well thought out comment and you are very true it goes down to the basic thinking of wants vs needs. Somehow in that process wants have replaced needs.

[-] 0 points by deyquan (0) 5 years ago

this jus be anothe exampl of the whitman keepin the black man downs we entitled to free phone we done suffere 200 years o slavry

[-] 0 points by Shayneh (-482) 5 years ago

Obama never said that the "recovery would be a "long slow process"". From what I remember he promised hope and change, unemployment down to 6% by his first term, reduced debt in his first term.

But instead we have no hope and change, unemployment up to over 8% and still climbing and a debt increased by 6 trillion in 3.5 years.

So tell me do you really think that letting him be president for another 4 years will change things for the better?

He is the one who is dividing this country between the working class and the businesses sector.

And you wonder why businesses are not expanding - uncertainty - and continually being bashed by a President who has never been involved in running a business let alone being able to use private investments to make a profit.

Keep thinking like you do - eventually if you are middle class you will become part of the 47%ers who need government assistance.

Can I get a 32" TV? The 27" I have is too small. I'll vote for whoever gets me one. Or a blu-ray player. That'll work.

[-] 0 points by Neuwurldodr (744) 5 years ago

Poverty, welfare, food lines, etc. etc. ???

Teddy Roosevelt-"He became President in March of 1933 at one of the worst points of the Great Depression. He asked them (the masses) to stop hoarding cash, and on his first day as President he closed the Banks and ordered the Congress into special session to pass emergency banking legislation. It was a crisis situation. Between 12 and 14 million people were unemployed, and many were actually starving. In response, FDR recommended passage of programs such as the Works Progress Administration (WPA) that provided building projects, built schools and public buildings; the Civil Concentration Corps [CCC], wherein unmarried men built roads and public projects under the direction of the Army; and The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), formed to build dams and hydroelectric plants for electricity and flood control on rivers. The Agricultural Adjustment Acts of 1933 and 1938 promoted reforestation and conservation and controlled supply and demand by paying farmers not to plant certain crops......(The beginning of Corporate control of today!!) During Roosevelt's presidency; the gold standard was abandoned and the Social Security Act introduced. The Social Security Act provided unemployment compensation, retirement funds, and disability insurance on a national scale. The dollar was devalued to stimulate foreign trade and to support more competitive business practices. As part of the New Deal, aid and assistance were provided to farms and businesses. The National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) was passed to stabilized industry by eliminating cutthroat practices, maintaining prices, and promoting labor unionization. The United States Supreme Court claimed that the NIRA and the Agricultural Adjustment Acts were unconstitutional. In 1938 Roosevelt had Congress pass another AA Act that did fit the Supreme Court's Standards. Employment for the unemployed and "a chicken in every pot" were the themes of the times. Many critics called the programs socialistic and said they were creating a welfare state funded by the government. Roosevelt's social welfare platform created federal deficits never seen before in this country..... http://library.thinkquest.org/06aug/00342/Welfare.html

(Obama wasn't even a twinkle in his Daddy's eye then!) This is how welfare began people....stop acting dumb!

Now that we have a President who does not fit the mold of what the masses consider (American) everyone (we know who they are) is showing their contempt, inbred racism, and disrespect.... Why is that?

[-] 1 points by throaway (57) 5 years ago

Ir was Franklin, noit Teddy.

[-] 1 points by Neuwurldodr (744) 5 years ago

If you are correct, good, I will stand corrected.

Yet, it doesn't change what the racist individuals are trying to perpetrate against OUR PRESIDENT!

[-] 0 points by yobstreet (-575) 5 years ago

Wasn't it Michelle that introduced the Internet equality thing? Free laptops for poor kids, which after six months of spyware will be worthless?

I think there are a lot of people in this country now who alternate between abject poverty and some relative self sufficiency due to our present job market, these people fall between the cracks of our safety nets.

[-] 0 points by poindexter (8) 5 years ago

Not saying the program is racist or anything but I don't think young white guys are the demographic that are successful on getting Obama phones. I'm working at Burger King so I make too much money but if anyone tries to get one please report back how hard it is.

Can you get an iPhone? I'd bag the BK job for an iPhone!

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Most welfare recipients are white. Why would you think mainly black people would get the free Bush phones? Free phone pgm began in 2008 under your boy Bush!

[-] 0 points by poindexter (8) 5 years ago

Lighten up Sparky, aid to the indigent has been around for a long time and we can thank Al Gore for the tax on your phone bill that pays for these phones but like SSI and food stamps let's just say these programs have 'expanded' under Obama.

[-] -2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Welfare/foodstamps have expanded in the last few years because of the great recession Bush and repubs created.

But since Pres Obamas policies have halted the repub economic crash, increased the employment, reversed the stock market crash, and turned Bushs -9% qtrly contraction to almost 4 years of qtrly GDP growth, you can be sure we are getting more people off of welfare.

Now if your repubs would pass the jobs bills, stop firing state workers (in the middle of an unemployment crises) we'll be just fine.

So Pres Obama is reducing welfare recipients but they are still majority white people so why would you think mailny black people would get the free Bush phones?

[-] 1 points by poindexter (8) 5 years ago

My pubs? You don't have to be a brain dead leftist to be a liberal. Some of us have to pay attention to reality so you don't have to. :)

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

You still didn't answer the questions. Mr thinker.

So since most welfare recipients are white why would you suggest that mainly black people are getting the phones? And why would you call it an Obama phone if the fre phone pgm predates Pres Obama?

Resuscitate you brain and think about that mr thinker.

[-] 1 points by Neuwurldodr (744) 5 years ago

Can any of them really do that?

Think that is...

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

No. They can't focus enough to even respond. bunch of racist partisans.

[-] 0 points by Neuwurldodr (744) 5 years ago

I agree...LOL!!

[-] 0 points by poindexter (8) 5 years ago

Um, the black lady in the vid called it an Obama phone, I'll take her word for it.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Because her mistake serves your racist anti Obama partisan narrative.?

You and Rush are pushing the same racist lies.

I think the smart people on this site see right through your transparencies.

[-] 0 points by poindexter (8) 5 years ago

For you to extrapolate a program to get telephone service to rural areas (which actually dates back to our hero FDR) that has morphed into millions of cell phones being paid for by taxpayers is silly in the extreme. Obama is buying votes with them as explained by the young lady in the vid, did you not watch it?

And yes, it is difficult for young white males to participate in various government programs, they are not in the preferred class of potential recipients. You have to be realistic when talking about these things or risk looking stupid. There are plenty of attacks we can make without making shit up. Like the white welfare thing. That old saw was debunked in the 70s, in sheer numbers white recipients outnumber minorities but as a percentage of the population white recipients are miniscule compared to the minority community, just a fact of life. People know that and they know you are uneducated at best by repeating such silliness.

If you are doing the best you can then bless you but if you are looking for people stupid enough to believe what you are saying then I have to tell you, that ship has sailed.

We of the left have to face the fact we no longer control the narrative, we are dealing with a population that has unlimited numbers of avenues to consume news. Look at what happened to the narrative on Libya! We look like fools for blaming it on some Youtube vid! We have to be smarter in our approach,we are getting our lunch money stolen daily, think about it.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

"We of the left"? You ain't of the left!

No one is buying votes with cell phones, or welfare. That is racist right wing lies.

Welfare, & free cell phone recipients has grown because of the economic great recession the right created!

Most people on welfare are white! So to suggest Pres Obama is trying to buy minority votes or create a dependent class is just more racist right wing lies.

You ain't kiddin anyone withe the pretense that you are of the left.

That is laughable.

[-] 1 points by poindexter (8) 5 years ago

Bless you. :)

[-] -1 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 5 years ago

The lady in the video is honest. Why is that bad? It's a 'me' society.

[-] -1 points by HeatherL (-30) 5 years ago

Anything for a Obama vote. This program went from 777 million in 2008 to over 1.6 billion dollars it is costing the taxpayers. I bet many of the regulars on this forum all have obummer life line phones

[-] 1 points by Neuwurldodr (744) 5 years ago

I wonder why the rich don't pay more for the phones since Corporate America owns all the communication systems. media. etc?

Wouldn't it be great if they got tax write-offs and $$$ incentives for supplying the phones and taking the burden off the American public?

Oh....never mind...I forgot.....they already do!!! So whats your point...

" It’s administered by the Universal Service Administration Company, an organization set up by the Federal Communications Commission, which parcels the money out to private phone companies set up just to give away these free government cell phones."

So, you must understand, if you want to stop paying for the phones, then rebel against the corporations who are sticking it to us anyway, don't pay your damned phone bill and go out and get one for yourself!

Better yet. drop your landlines, Blueberries, IPods, or any other communication devices you might have.

Lets really sock it to em and put em all out of business!

Whaddya think?

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

The free cell phone program began in 2008 under your boy Bush! Why are you calling it Obama phone. You pushing this lie because you are an anti Obama partisan?

And no you can't have an iphone. You get a $10 flip phone! So get over yourselves.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

Actually VQ, that's incorrect.

The free phone program was started under Reagan.

It was expanded over the years to include cell phones.

So calling it an Obama phone is kind of racist, if it's used as a derogatory description.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

I stand corrected. I was speaking specifically on the cell phone pgm, but I don't doubt your facts.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

I can't recall a single instance of someone calling it a Bush phone, or even a Clinton phone.

So is calling it an Obama phone a sign of racism?

It's highly likely.

Well I've heard this unfair attack on Pres Obama enough in conjunction with other racist attacks so I think it is.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

That's my take as well.

I mean, how could they have passed up calling it a slick willie phone?

Hear, Hear to all of the above!

What if all the people calling it an Obamaphone are black?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

You really do, still have an issue with understanding just how propaganda works.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

So you think that the word Obamaphone wasnt orginated in those communities?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

You just think that's not possible.

Indeed, it is how PR/propaganda works.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Of course I think its possible. Im just more inclined to think this started kind of on its own, because most of America doesnt even know this program exists, and I cant see the Housing Authority refering to them as Obamaphones.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

That's the magic of properly done PR/propaganda.

You just can't believe it was anything but natural.

Punctuated, of course, by your belief that "America doesn't know it exists".

Now that's perfectly placed propaganda.

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Hey it could be, anything is possible, Im just saying that it got started in 08, and wasnt really rolled out until Obama was in office, and people tend to like cute names, you being case in point.

Are names like Repelican started by Democrats as a ploy to keep everyone divided? Some shit does just happen on its own.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

Consider this.

No one called them Raygun phones.

No one called them Slick Wille phones.

No one called them Bush phones.

But, people calling them Obama phones comes to light just before the elections.

That's pitch perfect propaganda, and no coincidence.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Well people in the neighborhood I work in have been calling them Obamaphones for years, maybe the media just caught on.

Cellphones werent added to the program until 08, and rolled out until 09.

I personally dont see why landlines wont do.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 5 years ago

Perhaps calling them Wilson phones would be more accurate?

This still doesn't negate the negative impact of the propagandized term Obama phone.

Are you denying that's it's being used as a pejorative term?

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 5 years ago

Well it is definitely helping to push the Obama Loves Welfare lines of the right, thats for sure.

[-] 1 points by conservatroll (187) 5 years ago

Ir actually began under Reagah as an attempt to ensure every household had a landline. If you are gonna be so self righteous, at least check your facts.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

"self righteous"? name calling is childish. I just disagree, and commented with a fact as support.

I've added the word cell to my comment you criticized because that is what I meant.

[-] 1 points by ChemLady (576) 5 years ago

One of the companies that supplies the phone uses the term Obama Phone.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

I disagree!

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

Free Cell phone pgm pre date Pres Obama.

You're post is perpetuating a racist youtube effort by right wing wackos to push the fallacy that this Pres is providing welfare benefits to sure up his base (black people).

The expanded welfare benefits are a result of republican economic irresponsibility and the resulting Bush great recession.

Pres Obama has begun the long slow process of recovery. Repubs have done everything to obstruct these efforts. And finally most people on welfare are white!

So what are talking about?

Another title for the youtube.? "this is a racist lie" Another title for your post.? "this is a racist lie"

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

It is better. Why would you want to post this fallacy.?

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

If someone is poor enough to benefit they should take part. Mostly though you will find OWS supporters want to earn their own keep (like most people).

Wouldn't you say that is your experience?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 5 years ago

I agree. & those that game the system at the top end of the top end of the income level, they do massive damage.

Outrage for that corruption is lacking. (Again!)
