Forum Post: Are you a member of the Stinkled club?

Posted 11 years ago on March 23, 2013, 12:52 a.m. EST by Builder (4202)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

There's been some conjecture about just who is, and who isn't being stinkled by delusionman, and his merry bank of stinkle-fingerers. If you're wondering who they are, "they" are all the same guy.

Fixation has found a new superhero.

If you think you've been stinkled recently, without recognition from the other stinkled amongst us, please let us know. Even a link or two to those posts where stinkling has been detected would be great.

When the worm turns, all that stinkle-fingering is gonna add up to one humongous karma cake, for end of year celebrations.

That is all. Go back to your regular programming.

Read the Rules

Well, here is the deal. Somewhere down the line someone gave this jerk some permission that if it could blend in well enough than everything would be hunky dory. So, what we have is someone that tries on a different outfit every time and parades around to see if it's the right look and acceptable now. First of all, that isn't Thras. He just opened the door. Thras had a wicked sense of humor at times. Further, there is no way in hell that he would up and become an anarchist. Never. Go back and read what Thras and his other alts have written. Thras had us all up here one night trying to keep threads coming into the forum on what was it? Sports? They were shooting them puppies down every 30 seconds. 'Cept what we didn't know at the time was that he was the one that was shooting those damn threads down. See, that was when I figured out that he was an ass. I actually didn't have a run in with him until he bullied a member here. Then I went after him, which is laughable, because I knew that what I was doing was nothing more than an annoyance.

Better than that. Go back and read what was written in conversation between him and April. You are looking for the one where Thras says that he is going to hand it over to her. Go back and see if you can find the thread where he says that he got in and a few others say then let us in. He then says, "and then let it flow like water".

Think back to everything that he ever said to you individually. This is going to be key. That is going to be your weapon of defense, so hold that shit tight. NOT how well this individual can mimic whatever it is that you want it to be.

Ever notice how the Thras-wanna-be shows up and there are two or three extreme right wing stances being taken? See, the whole twinkle team shit would almost be believable if the extreme right wing stances were confronted. They are not or they are confronted by very few.

You have at least one that tells you that he is here because he is anti Occupy and is against the protests I have seen very few take him to task on that. Anyone wanna take a gander on how that looks?

Instead what do we have, a shit load of people that stand on the sidelines and bitch cry over policy or someone should stop saying Republicans. Really? REALLY?

And do what exactly? Play along like none of the above is happening? If we don't say Republicans then they don't exist, right? If we don't say Tea Party, they don't exist? I saw the Tea thread roll down the other night, did anyone else catch that? If someone doesn't point out the Democratic opposite then that means that you are obviously pro Dem. Look, there has been several times that I came close to losing my shit over some copy pasta crap. I know who Corzine is and I have an entire list of Dem's that have continuously either lied, sold us down the river, profit through exploitation or take money from the right wing groups. Which simply means that they were for sale from the get go.

Here is the deal. This has been an attempt to divide us. I don't trust you or you and you. You don't trust me and so and so and so and so.

[-] 4 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I've lost 1,000 points in 24hours three times so far.

I just didn't bitch incessantly about it and start an ignorant thread to do so.

I'm sorry for saying this, but this thread should have been banned in the first place.

The whole, "no more voting" thing was already tried. It failed.

Live with it.

[+] -4 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Voting is good and this thread is good. We're just lacking moderation and I believe that's where this is going.

[-] 5 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I disagree. This thread is nothing more than a distraction from actual issues.

There isn't a single issue being discussed here, it mostly consists of a vague bashing of those that DO vote.

Trust me, I've taken enough guff for having more point than most, and it's always in the form of an insult.

This thread is shit.......period.

Fuck these whiny bastards.

How about an actual issue to discuss?

http://prospect.org/article/take-political-science

[-] -2 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

I'll take a hit here but I think the panic about gun laws is a huge distraction.

What are the real issues in you opinion?

My real issue is global. It's greed, corruption and the killing of the planet. My issue is corporations ruling the world and making our laws. Worldwide.

[-] 12 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

the panic about gun laws is a huge distraction

TRUTH

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

yes it is. and it recurs every few days, big or small tragedies.

so things must change or we are just insane (doing same thing over and over again, hoping for different outcome: that is the goal of the NRA distraction)

[-] 3 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Let them have their distraction - maybe if they hide in the basement long enough - the rest of us can concentrate on the ills of society and get something done.

[-] 3 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

it reminds me of the parable of all the starfish on the beach, and 1 person taking time to throw them back 1 at a time.

it is an important issue, but there's a bigger issue, the coroporation that owns the NRA, the gun lobby, who is defeating common sense rules that even NRA members support..., such as background checks, and large clips of ammo, and exploding ammo.

the corporations are decreeing laws of the lands. that is the larger issue, sad to say, and children and innocents are dying because of it, and so is our freedom.

[-] 3 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

The NRA is the public outreach of the MIC ( the weapons makers ). So it does come round to corpoRATions and Greed - again.

[-] -2 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

OK, I hope this is the last time I point out strange observations... but what is wrong with this group.

You agreed with me, which is cool. But the voters among us gave you a balance of +9 and I wound up with -2. People are that blind on their journey?

I wonder if you say something totally untrue and irrelevant, would you get a bunch of twinkles?

Maybe I'm getting cranky. And no offense to you DKA by any means, it's just evidence that the system sucks and/or most people are really silly.

May the Lord give me the strength not to bitch about this tomorrow and the next day.

[-] 3 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

If you are actually new - and I do give you the benefit of the doubt - If you are a supporter of OWS and all of Occupy - If "I" were an attacker - would I not try to piss you off or otherwise discourage you? I have been attacked in pretty much anyway that you can imagine over this last year - as have many others - unfortunately - I am one of the "few" who have stuck it out. Look at the other high karma point individuals - and know that they have also been attacked with real determination.

[-] -3 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Wait, I remember! We went over this before, right? It is the bold words! Hehe I better get to bed, my wife is pissed off at me for ignoring her!

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Give her some good lovin - then. At least a good snuggle. {:-])

[-] -2 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Hehe, I think it's all better now.

[-] -3 points by elevenT (-99) 11 years ago

A huge distraction from what?

[-] -2 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Time better spent elsewhere. Like saving the world, not just the constitution. Although there is the capitalist side of things which influences government. I suppose it fits but man, so much time on one thing that will yield such a small return if any. Surface issues... try to fix one and three more pop up.

[-] -3 points by elevenT (-99) 11 years ago

You dont consider the Bill of Rights to be worth fighting for ( saving)?

[-] -1 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Compared to the planet, no.

[-] -2 points by elevenT (-99) 11 years ago

The planet is fine. The Bill of Rights is under assault by the current adminstration.

[-] 1 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

Planet + Bill of Rights = important = our huge frustration here today, yesterday.

http://www.cusdi.org/amendmentten.htm

Apologies for hasty label branding yesterday.

http://www.cusdi.org/index.html

happiness of the people is to be sacrificed to the views of political institutions of a different form? It is too early for politicians to presume on our forgetting that the public good, the real welfare of the great body of the people, is the supreme object to be pursued; and that no form of government whatever has any other value than as it may be fitted for the attainment of this object. Were the plan of the convention adverse to the public happiness, my voice would be, Reject the plan. Were the Union itself inconsistent with the public happiness, it would be, Abolish the Union. In like manner, as far as the sovereignty of the States cannot be reconciled to the happiness of the people, the voice of every good citizen must be, Let the former be sacrificed to the latter. How far the sacrifice is necessary, has been shown. How far the unsacrificed residue will be endangered, is the question before us.

................................

IMO the planet is on slippery slope toward eventual extinction, hastened by ignorance of science and history. http://occupywallst.org/forum/we-the-people-killing-the-planet-ourselves/

[-] -1 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Administration = corporations?

[-] -2 points by elevenT (-99) 11 years ago

The adminstration = obama , his czars, all dem senators and cogressmen, all heads of agencies that bypass congress and make law ( they are not empowered to do so) but call them regulations, justices that make law ( the are not empowered to do so) instead of interpreting it.

[-] 0 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

I'm on a quest to weaken corporations and remove their fangs from government, while spreading the worker self-directed enterprise mentality. But the ultimate goal is to escape capitalism and the money-based economy. This endeavor isn't a band aid solution for distracting surface issues that will continue to occupy you in this system.

Investing in what? The corporations we hate, I imagine. What do you want from this forum?

Do you know who Richard Wolff is? Chomsky? Fresco? Watched the latest zeitgeist movie? Do that and then post here.

[-] -2 points by elevenT (-99) 11 years ago

I did not mistake mentally for mentality. Wherever you " learned " what you learned, it's worthless in the real world.

what a silly boring thing you are,.......................... Cubicle? it dont need no stinkin cubicle, i have investment income.

Ha! Your "education" is not just an uneducation, it was an ill-education. You got stupider from it. Anyways it's clear you lack experience in your cubicle, if you earned one yet.

[-] -3 points by elevenT (-99) 11 years ago

You're demented. Where did you go to school?

[-] -2 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

I hardly went to school. I suppose when I said mentality you thought I said mentally. Since you get called mentally retarded too often.

Greed to gather them all - and in the darkness - Bind Them.

Gotta support truth.

[-] 4 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

All of that and more.....People pick on me for posting on ALEC and the brothers Koch, but I don't care OWS doesn't like 'em either, so I pick right back at them.

That pisses 'em off, but I don't care about that either, if you can minimize ALEC you are a fool.

I also post often on what's happening in Michigan, but since the party that should NEVER be called out is doing the dastardly deeds, I get called a partisan..and other names.

I don't care. The (R)epelican'ts ARE doing these things, with the help of the Koch's and ALEC............!

So yeah, I react when people minimize these things. I'm human.

I'm also strongly pro union.

PS. This will be my last post in this POS thread. I can't wait for it to fall off the page.

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Stop voting and endorsing people who accept ALEC money and your constant posts on ALEC may be more meaningful.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Stop posting stuff from breitbart, and I'll think about it.

You sure let that one drop fast, if you didn't delete it by now.

Will you be defending the Koch's again soon too?

[-] -2 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Im not defending them, to hell with em, who needs em. And Im certainly not voting for them either.

But you vote for people who accept ALEC money. Way to draw a line in the sand.

One hour every two years, and you cant even handle that. Is that your idea of leading from the front? Say one thing and do another?

[-] 4 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Yep, sidestepping the breitbart link. I expected you would.

On the tail end of the stuff from the John Birch society, that's pretty telling.

[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Focusing on others links instead of your own voting record is very telling.

You openly endorse the people whom ALEC funds. Openly.

I bet you'd take checks from them to, huh? haha.

[-] -1 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Cool. Btw, in my opinion, the biggest distraction is the political shit. Ds and Rs are the same fuckin thing. People will spend their lives defending one or the other. That is a waste and the political system is fiction. Who is your favorite WWF wrestler? I'd be more interested in that.

[-] 4 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I'm sorry, but I reject the "all the same" paradigm.

It only appears that way from certain angles and most of those include the power of the MIC and or WallStreet.

When it comes to certain kinds of legislation, there is a World of difference, a difference that is extremely acute when you look at the States........

It is when I point this out, that I am attacked the hardest, but it's true, so I WILL continue to do so..........right wing trolls and their supporters be damned.

[-] 4 points by JesseHeffran (3903) 11 years ago

I like where this conversation is going and would be interested to know what others on this website felt about the two paradigms.

It just seems kinda defeatist to believe that political decisions cannot be altered by people collectively protesting against them. That, the whole political process is just one in a long line of entertainments that we enjoy in this country, is just an idea I have trouble digesting.

[-] 4 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago
[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

" most of those include the power of the MIC and or WallStreet."

Thats what happens when you fund both sides silly!!!!

You;ve made is very clear that you will back the Democrats no matter HOW HARD THEY FUCK YOU. And many others will too, along with their blind brothers and sisters on the right/

And actually most of the people who attack you for that are occupiers. You would know that if you ever showed up.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

You've NEVER proven it and I've asked you to numerous times.

Say whatever you like now, as I won't respond to anything else in this divisive thread.

Vapro is an Occupier in your book, along with all the gun nutters?

You lie.

[-] -2 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Right, but you drive people away by acting like king boss and being vicious and hurtful. I bet you've brought the worst out of good people and driven away good opinions. I almost left because of the way I've been snapped at.

Those are my friends so fuck you too.

The best thing to do is for everyone to downvote each other until every single poster is in the negatives

[+] -5 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Oh, good link though, thanks for sharing.

[-] 2 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

This thread is an unfounded personal attack against me! (delusionman)?

If you support this childish, shallow, paranoid, conspiratorial theory that I am responsible for everyones downvotes you are just as mentally disturbed.

I have lost thousands of points in a matter of days!!! I've been downvoted for saying 'good luck'.

Most of us have been targeted. We ain't complaining because that is the risk we take and we KNOW the numbers DO NOT matter!!!!!

So instead of discussing the issues that benefit the 99%, these clowns have spent hours and hours lying about me, and whining about their Karma points.

You think this thread is GOOD!!!???? This thread is obviously inappropriate for a forum whose focus is on informing and encouraging people to act in an effort to improve the lives of the 99%.

You have been brainwashed, misled, You, like these morons have lost your way.

Refocus. This is 'Occupy Wall St', Not 'let's attack those whose opinion we don't like'

[+] -4 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

I'm not personally attacking you. Have I ever? It's probably your bad attitude and the way you say shit that pisses people off. Sorry you've been attacked.

[-] 0 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

You said the thread was good. And it ain't. It is unrelated to the mission of OWS, and beneath the decent progressive people who contribute here.

What is 'bad' about my attitude, or with the 'way I say shit'?

You wanna back up that unfounded accusation or are you like the whiny little liars you defend? No evidence, just complaining.?

[-] 0 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

How about this line "You have been brainwashed, misled, You, like these morons have lost your way."?

I'm not wasting my time further on this. If you want people to stop singling you out, stop being a dick.

[-] 1 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

My description was accurate. just look at the sophomoric comments in the thread, and the grade school youtube links of childish humor.

I'm not being a dick. I'm defending myself from the immature dicks that you have said created a "good" thread and now defend.

You must be in Bizarro world.

[-] -1 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Sure, some are more mature than others. But when there is no police, people are left to their own imaginations. I think this is an effort to create a better community.

[-] -2 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

This is an effort to personally attack me without offering any proof, because the immature, dishonest, whiny cabal you defend do not like my opinion/politics.

Whatever, I haven't done anything wrong. The one accusation they have is that I downvote them.

Guess what? That's ALLOWED!!!! And my voting is my business,

I will continue posting anti bankster, anti foreclosure, anti racist, anti homophobic, anti women, pro OWS threads.

You can defend this offensive, dishonest, inappropriate use of this forum, and push your "99conglomerate spam money making scam" for your own benefit.

[-] 1 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

See, it's that spam money making scam bad attitude shit that makes people single you out and say fuck you. I kinda glazed over the delusionman thing in this post, didn't really register. But ya fuck you delusionman. You piece of shit. I have no problem with anyone... Not Shooz, not anyone. Just you, for what you just said.

[-] 0 points by inclusionman (7064) 11 years ago

I understand, you don't want to hear criticism of your entrepreneurial efforts to exploit this forum. This forum was created to inform and encourage action to support the 99%.

And your childish lashing out at me personally with more unfounded, unfair. immature attacks, only shows I hit a nerve of truth.

So "you only come here to push the conglomerate", most of us come here to inform and encourage action to benefit the 99%.

Who is a piece of shit? LOL

[-] 0 points by Kavatz (464) from Edmonton, AB 11 years ago

Unfortunately the Conglomerate benefits you as much as anyone else including me. It's not for personal gain and people here understand that.

How would you like it if I go back to your earliest post as delusionman and downvote all your comments, like you've done to my friends?

You actually downvote comments you can't disagree with just to attack people... People will keep watching you suspiciously and singling you out.

[-] 3 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Odd so many bitchin about the stinkle but few or none of them support getting rid of the stinkle, bunch of whores in church I'd say.

[-] -2 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

I've both suggested, and supported getting rid of it.

[-] 4 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

sorry I read the post just sounded like bitching, a week ago a put a post suggesting we get rid of it, for a week not one comment, then when I saw this i bumped it, it has some chatter now, but most who comment here have not there, and I did not see any suggestion for action like getting rid of it in your post.

[-] -1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

Although agree with getting rid of them, I didn't comment on your post because the idea will go nowhere. I e-mailed the admins about it well over a year ago. I got no reply. I suggested the points should be attached to the comment and not the poster, by the way, not necessarily getting rid of voting in general.

[-] 4 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I only suggest getting rid of the stinkle and by doing that the mindset that encourages it, I think anyway.

[-] -2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I like that idea, facts. It would be a major improvement.

[-] 4 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

This may be the first thing we've agreed on, maybe not, you see we can make this thing better, if we want to.

[-] -1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

Actually I remember some conversations with you in the early days. We never had a problem. Just the recent disagreement about Odin is all I can think of, but that's no biggie in my eyes. I try to get along with everyone and try not to hold any grudges. But we all have our weak moments.

[-] 3 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Hey, respect the Art of the Thread the comment was more powerful before, but I suppose you're correct, (I'd say "right" but didn't want to mar your reputation).

[-] -2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I've been known to be correct on occasion, but I'm never 'right.'

Good night, frf. Time for me to log off. It's getting late.

[-] -2 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

This post was made because any request to get rid of the "karma" system is ignored, and there appears to be zero active moderation happening.

I didn't really expect this thread to remain. Sorry if it offends. That was unintentional.

[-] 3 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

I don't think doing away with karma system would be a good ideal either, I think the twinkle encourages good comments. There could be a "report" button for actual abuse as opposed to disagreeing with the position or person in general. That way the mods could decide if the comment or the report of the comment was "abuse"

You're right Odin.

I'm more concerned with the first impressions of a casual visitor to this site.

This thread served a purpose. I thought it would have been shelved by now.

[-] -1 points by frovikleka (2563) from Island Heights, NJ 11 years ago

Take solace in knowing that unlike many people here, you are not only being true to your conscience, but

Your views are much more akin to the people in Occupy Wall Street, that i know anyway

I think a much better thread to put up for newcomers.... while pissing off the twinkle team simutaneously...lol.. is a How To Understand The Point System Here - and the illogical conclusions you can draw from people who have high & low point totals here -

Those reversed logic deductions are; For the most part, the people who have the lowest point totals are usually the ones who represent the principles of OWS the most, and vice vesa of course

Seriously, the fact that this up-side down paradigm is clear to see, not just shows how older folk in particular cannot grasp anything outside of the left vs right model,

But it is also indicative of the paid hacks on here who have formed an unholy alliance with them

Hence, it shows how worried the corrupt system is, and that is as it should be

~Odin~

[-] -1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Aaah, but how to keep such a thread on top?

I'm more familiar with the PHP bulletin board format, where noobs can at least get an idea from the FAQ page up top. This format is easily manipulated by drongos posting a hundred one-line reponses a day.

Thanks for the headsup, BTW.

TVP comes in a granular form, and is basically tasteless. It can be thrown in soups, or stews and it thickens it, and takes on the taste of the seasoned liquid. So you wouldn't neat as much meat if any.

Jart used to make an appearance here every so often, but not for the past 6 months or so. When she did though, there was a lot of brown nosing going on, just like little kids hoping to get special privileges.

[-] -3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Yeah, I've been here pretty-much from the start. I remember the brown-nosing.

It's never a good look. These people (Jart and other #ows activists) probably shake their heads at this shit going on here, and just go back to what they are doing.

Activism with a keyboard is about one percent of the real activity needed for a people's movement.

[-] -3 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 11 years ago

[+] -4 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I imagine there's a fair amount of readers that don't post. Have you ever looked at the map on the front page in detail? There are a whole lot of red flags on it. And I don't know anything about what it takes to get on the first page of Google rankings but posts from this site make it on page one occasionally. The other day I Googled "How many slaves are working for you" and my post was number one on the page.

[-] 3 points by gsw (3410) from Woodbridge Township, NJ 11 years ago

And all the posts go on google search, so random people will happen in. It will sink in to the popular thinking in a couple years, if it hasn't already. Posts may be there forever.

http://www.cusdi.org/state_legislator_package.pdf

But there are non priority posts getting created, would be nice to have an organized organized access to posts. Add next to comment and bubbling, a caregory button, with posts ranked by how many comments, grouped in broad categories.

[-] -3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I'm glad to hear the posts go out to a wider audience. It's a good way to spread the word to people not directly associated to this forum.

I always thought it would have been a good idea to have Matt's work from the earlier days incorporated into this site. I don't know if you remember that but he was doing a damn good job of keeping posts organized into categories.

[-] -2 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 11 years ago

I think most of those flags are inactive occupiers. I used the map about a year ago to contact local occupiers to join our local group. Not a single reply out of a dozen or so flags.

Our local group broke up after the last election. I'm hopeful to start it up again but definitely need a better strategy. Any ideas?

[-] -3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I've wondered about those flags. And about the list of nearby occupiers on a persons profile page when you list your location. There must be a whole lot of inactive occupiers out there.

No, I don't have any ideas about getting your local up and running again. It seems the one here in St. Louis isn't doing much of anything either. I visited their page not too long ago and it seemed essentially dead. No new comments for a couple months and almost all the recent comments were from one guy. Surprisingly, it was IronBoltBruce!

[-] -3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Yes, google is rather easily manipulated.

I was saying to a guy on another board I frequent that his tirades about indig Australians has ranked him first and third in a google search. He freaked out.

The web is geared for information collating, so advertising dollars can be directed to their best avenue.

[-] -2 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

Interesting. So how would a forum post here make it on the first page if this site gets so little action? There's much about the web I don't understand.

[-] -3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

It used to be all about repetition, meaning the more times a particular term, like "vocabulary improvements" is viewed on any one web site, the higher it will rank on a given google search for that term. I "owned" that search term for several weeks on a forum just like this one. The thread, ironically, had little to do with improving vocabulary. We used to play around with owning google searches just for shits and giggles.

This may not be the case these days. I'm just an irregular user now, rather than a full-on geek back then.

[-] -3 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

That would explain my post showing up. It's a pretty common subject ever since that interactive from the "Made in a Free World" website showed up. Thanks for the info.

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (3919) from St Louis, MO 5 minutes ago

One person mainly. You have no idea what that boy's done just for the points. Well, you probably do, but it's obsessive. On occasion I'll go thru old posts looking for something. Try it sometime. You'll see that every comment of his on the entire thread has somehow magically garnered six, seven, eight points per comment. Every comment on the whole thread. But, strangely, no one else in the history of this forum gets that kind of action. And he thinks people don't notice that and constantly claims "The points are meaningless. Stick to the issues."

[+] -4 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

The interesting thing is, gnomunny, that he manages to flood the board every day, on almost every thread. And then still has the time to go looking for old threads from his former ID's, and pump up those scores.

As I've said before, this is a serious psychotic episode being played out before our eyes, each and every day.

If not for the damage to this forum, it would be something maybe wiki might like to be made aware of. Some kind of record is being set, right before our eyes.

[+] -4 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I like your sense of humor Builder. "Some kind of record being set."

I can almost picture him keeping a tally of all his points for all his id's for a cumulative point total. I imagine he's probably approaching DKA's numbers by now.

[+] -4 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Hope you don't mind me bringing your post into the thread, but something needs to be done about this issue.

Perhaps some good will come of it.

On the humour thing, most Australians culture one of the most laconic, and subtly sarcastic forms of humour, many people just don't get it. Glad you see it.

[+] -4 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I've always been a big fan of subtle sarcasm.

No, I don't mind you bringing my comment here, but I doubt anything will be done about it. The admins seems oddly resistant to making any forum improvements. Or enforcing their own rules apparently. From the 'Rules' page:

"Off topic posts, low content posts, worthless posts, bumping, etc, will be moderated and removed." Emphasis mine.

And:

" . . . what you don't do is make a slew of sockpuppets. That's the best way for future bans to be immediate and without second thoughts."

Go figure.

[+] -4 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

I've watched some interaction between DKA (who I have no issue with) and VQ when he was first stepping way over the line. It was like the stern Uncle figure doing his best to pull the inbred nephew into line with some kinda stern rebukes. Delusionman still calls him Boss.

It's getting a bit too incestuous all round for my liking. I've set up two forums over the years, and ended up handing over control because it's hard work to moderate even on a casual basis. Maybe that's what's happening here.

[+] -5 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 11 years ago

I imagine the moderating problem here almost certainly stems from a lack of manpower. I don't have much experience with forums especially from that side but it seems it would take more than one person to do it effectively.

I remember that interaction between DKA and d'man. It was a good thing, though, because d'man cleaned up his act somewhat. He was insufferable in the beginning.

And in certain circles here in the states, being called 'boss' is somewhat of an insult. It's a jailhouse thing. It's what you call the 'turnkeys' and it's meant to be derogatory.

[+] -5 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Aaah, righto.
