Please!

BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!

I always try and buy American made products even if it costs alittle more.

We must stop importing more than we export!

Everyone needs to wake up and realize we are own worst enemy!!!

BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!

We need to support American companies and they will support the 99%!

Foreign companies just take our money overseas!

Im a OWS supporter that believes we need business as much as business needs us. So support your Mom and pop shops and shift your buying habits to support your local communities!

Question

Whats it going to take to get big money and lobbyists out of Politics?

I agree buy American products manufactured and assembled is US. Ask America Companies to make their products here.

By the way. I may steal your post. I will give you credit if I do. Buy American is a great way to help American workers. Keep promoting this idea.

[-] 2 points by SmallBizGuy (378) from Savannah, GA 12 years ago

There is nothing wrong with paying more for American products; However, it needs to remain voluntary. If OWS is truly concerned about American jobs, they should only purchase American made products. If they don't, then it should only be due to a lack of product availability.

I think you have hit on a good "theme" for OWS. "Buy American"....this would "make a difference"....something OWS is looking to achieve. Not necessarily an original idea....but...it is an effective one.

Yep! Americans can make a lot of the Corporations stop and listen if they start looking at what they spend money on. I personally think they could have a big impact if they do more things like move money and shop locally.

Answer, this thing would cut out the lobbyists middlemen, and re-direct the CASH FLOW focusing on the public: White House website sponsored petition: http://wh.gov/bhC

PUBLIC VOTE on the COMPETING FINAL DEMOCRATIC vs FINAL REPUBLICAN vs INDEPENDENT VERSIONS of a CONGRESSIONAL BILL. For example, both the Republican and Democratic parties claim to have tax code and healthcare reform plans. It is time to show these plans to the public in writing. Here the media polls and media talk shows would have something real to talk about before submitting the competing versions to the final decision-making responsibility of We the People.

We the Signers demand a PUBLIC VOTE OPTION be incorporated as a new legislative continuing JOINT RESOLUTION. Binding on Congress itself to pass along the public majority winning version of a bill to the President. The legislative precedent being no legal difference between a joint resolution and a bill.

Petitions receiving 25,000 votes in 30 days, are referred to evaluation followed by OFFICIAL WHITE HOUSE STATEMENT. Website RULES are sponsored petitions CANNOT be SEARCHED until receiving 150 VOTES. http://occupywallst.org/forum/public-vote-option-on-competing-democratic-vs-repu/

I have a Toyota that was made in Indiana. Did I buy American?

My friend has a Ford that was made in Mexico. Did he buy American?

Just looking for guidance...

Your freinds Ford may not have been 100% built in Mexico. Some of them are only assembled there. Depends on the part content sticker that is on a new vehicles window. New vehicle parts production content amount by country of origin is required by the Feds to be on the car when it is for sale as a new vehicle.

OK, more detail. My friend's Ford is indeed assembled in Mexico, with 55% US sourced components. My Toyota was built in Indiana, with 75% US made parts.

Did I buy American? Did my friend?

This is just a question we can ask for help with---Because the Toyota you bought new had more american labor and part contents may not mean you support American made. Since in the end the profit from the sale is going into a bank account in Japan. Who knows, I don't know which manufacture comes out on top supporting American made. The good news buy and drive what you want to this is America. You still have some freedoms of choice.

"Because the Toyota you bought new had more american labor and part contents may not mean you support American made. Since in the end the profit from the sale is going into a bank account in Japan."

Right. The profit goes to Japan. But American workers are paid, and that money is recycled in the local economy.

On the other hand, the Ford is made in Mexico. The profit goes to the 1%-ers who own Ford Motor Company, and Mexican workers are paid. Is that better?

By the way, Ford owns part of Mazda, so maybe buying a Mazda vehicle is "buy American"? I think there are no simple answers in the global economy.

I have a Mazda, and I work at a Ford dealership. Anyone could have purchased Ford stock in 2009 at about $2 a share. Not all of Ford is owned by some 1%ers. I'm not a 1% er

Oh, I realize that. Just still wondering about my question.

Mom and Pop shops are us the 99% that work hard that are not being heard!

We need to support ourselves!

Plus if we change mindset, then that could open and create more small business opportunities!

Jobs!

Wow!

If that happened we the people would be in a position to take back our country and rescue ourselves from corporate and Political abuse!

[-] 1 points by NintyNiner (93) 12 years ago

I know it is getting harder and harder to find American made products and that alone should tell us something.

Sometimes I go without just because its not American made!

Most big ticket items can be found, maybe not 100% made in America but close enough!

Our government won't promote buy American because of Politics, but there is nothin stoppin OWS from running a campaign!

"Sometimes I go without just because its not American made!"

Hard to do if you want a TV, a cell phone, an iPad, a computer, etc.

[-] 1 points by JZes (30) 12 years ago

I can't think of anything useful that is 100% made here..

[-] 1 points by JadedGem (895) 12 years ago

If you can't buy American, you can buy things used so you are not directly generating those profits for foreign goods.
