Site looks excellent.

One problem/ the banner moves a bit too fast for most readers.

Otherwise, great job people. Keep up the great work you are doing.

The point should not be to occupy wall street; the point should be to SHUT IT DOWN. When strikers want to shut down a factory then form a picket line around it; similarly OWS should form a picket line around Wall Street and SHUT IT DOWN. Then things would really begin to happen. Otherwise OWS risks turning into a circus (there are already signs of this), and eventually fizzling.

[-] 1 points by acarefreeman (27) 12 years ago

Excellent point. But I believe most people involved in OWS know exactly what to do with Wall Street-completely shut it down or let it suvive and continue to manipulate and exploit people in a short while later. Anyway, it is good to keep these topics alive so that people can exchange views with each other and eventually can reach a consensus on this most important matter of all. ~acarefreeman

[-] 1 points by AZvotenow (44) 12 years ago

Here are some guidelines for dialogue in its most basic form We talk about what's really important to us. We really listen to each other. We see how thoroughly we can understand each other's views and experience. We say what's true for us without making each other wrong. We see what we can learn together by exploring things together. We avoid monopolizing the conversation. We make sure everyone has a chance to speak.

someone had a very good idea about people being able to upload stories for the site. Keep em honest!!!!!!!

[-] 2 points by grimwomyn (35) from New York, NY 12 years ago

That is most definitely in the plans!

[-] 1 points by RubyTart (1) from Bronx, NY 12 years ago

why don't we occupy all boroughs? maybe some people cant get out there or are uncomfortable being in manhattan. theres 5 boroughs and PLENTy of people to occupy them. There was an occupy fordahm in The Bronx. Why not start that? each can have its own section of thought and ideas of what their boroughs need.

[-] 1 points by AZvotenow (44) 12 years ago

Great idea! The more people involved the greater possibility of making a real difference. GET PEOPLE REGISTERED IN EVERY BOROUGH AND MOTIVATE THEM TO VOTE. The more they see you on the street locally, the more hope they will have. Go for it!

[-] 1 points by nomdeguerre (1775) from Brooklyn, NY 12 years ago

Beware of free gifts. Why don't you have your own zeroxed sheets rather than this co-opting production from slicksters?

[-] 1 points by uhuru721 (2) 12 years ago

If this movement hopes to exact any sort of positive, progressive and permanent change it will become necessary to coalesce around specific concepts and ideas. I have seen people shying away from even basic outlines, but without this, the entire OWS "movement" is really a self-satiating, masturbatorial waste of time and energy. A realistic approach would involve having the courage to express convictions in an actionable way coupled with the courage to stand by those convictions and the grace and humility to work toward consensus, not only with one another, but also with the 1%. It cannot be an either/or, us/them duality because if it is, the dispossessed lose every time. Capitalism must be reimagined in an equitable and compassionate way, because it doesn't work as is, and repairing it will serve the greater good more thoroughly than nihilistically replacing it.

[-] 1 points by Fish (1) from Wyandanch, NY 12 years ago

I agree with your post 100 percent. I just had a post with the name " FISH" They need a progress platform or a well defined platform and there are lot of them out there and one that really capture the hearts of the 99 percent.

Problem- Someone must oversee Oct.24-26 am in the CHAT room at night. The negative comments from perhaps one multi moniker 'mod' directed at the participants in OWS and anyone who objects is unacceptable. OWS nyc may have an insincere 'mod' who is known to have a history of hacking & electronically tracking others from a different persuasions. Bald,45,East Vill, cl rants & rave $ tool.

“TOCSFAE” IS TOXIC TO THE BANKERS

we can prevent rioting with this plan

From the beginning when our country was formed we face many challenges and many opposing views

Just like today however, the peoples voices have been silence by special interest groups as well as the over whelming power grab by the bankers. Your demands/petitions will never be heard or taken seriously unless lobbyist/corporate have bless it for greedy reasons or eventually Co-Opt it. so keeping a hard core is essential.

It is time for a fair hearing!

Whether you have protested at the gas pump or you are an Occupier give our protest the teeth it needs beyond the gas pump and over the protest lines.

Wouldn’t it be worth your time to know there is a petition list worth signing that binds all Occupiers together.

Wouldn’t it be great if you can be heard, fairly and equally?

This is were the 7’step plan an ever growing list known as “TOCSFAE” can help. These step plans, enhances your concerns.

This petition will be a notification to congress of things yet to come and to properly prepare.

As of January 2012 we the people

We will not take the abuse anymore and neither should they walk around with there heads in the sand.

We will begin the process of phase one

Your petition will go to congress, informing them you support The “TOCS FAE” plan and so should they, by making preparations for receiving and forwarding income Tax mail. Your petition will also go to the top corporations letting them know of our intentions and they too should support and act on the doctrine by sending their taxes directly to congress. They should also be informed if our demands are not met, protests will be under way the likes they have never seen.

After this is achieved and we have broken the back of a few select Corporations we will move on to Step1 Taxes which may take months or years

Step1) Send your TAXES to a trusted congressman or congresswoman which maybe hard to find in your state. Make a Petition with your neighbors. Phone, email, fax your congress your list and intentions. Prepare your taxes, made out to the I.R.S check and envelope, and a stamp. Fit it in inside of a bigger envelope, onto which you should write congress address, preferably your state congress.

Example

Washington, DC 203 Cannon House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Phone Number: (202) 225-2831

Have congress unwrap the envelopes, state you want your taxes to be mailed to the I.R.S

If you are asking yourself, what will this achieve first it can be used as a bargain chip however, congress cannot spend it or over take the fed reserve and banks system over night, nonetheless this will indeed give teeth/meat, back to congress. You should include a sign return receipt so as to show proof you paid your taxes.

If you are interested in expressing this message to Occupy General feel free to do so.

[-] 1 points by GinaLola (210) 12 years ago

I have no idea what you are talking about and sadly, neither do you. Your checks already go to the IRS for processing, then they post to the treasury, just like in any business. If you want everyone's attention, don't pay your taxes at all after filing and explain it from a conscientious objector standpoint listing the lack of representation and an out of control, dangerous, killing government as your reasons. They will come after you in time, like a year or two, unless they have many people doing it at once and it looks like a trend. Then they may clamp down faster to nip the over all problem in the bud.

I've reviewed the links that you mentioned and they seem constructed in a way to hijack this movement, take it to another movement to get control of it, and then blend it with the TeaBagging party, which Occupy is diametrically opposed to on many basic important issues. We are opposites on health care positions, constant wars and the so-called need for a strong national defense, the right to education, the need to destroy all corporate hybridized government special interest domination of our system, as well as on the role of government and how to implement real change. Your web site might be more amply fitted to the TeaBagging party. Just because we are two big movements at the same time in history, does not mean that we have even anything simple, in common. There were opposing movements going into the original Constitutional Convention also and they had to fight it out over long periods of time with many times there being no consensus. We are not a corporate funded or co-opted movement.

[-] 1 points by TomHall (58) 12 years ago

First off the Tocs plan is meant as an enhancer second, I know the IRS does the processing; I am not going to tell people not to pay their taxes which I am oppose to, I’m not sure what you are trying to say? giving that, if your saying you feel it will not work, then obviously you do not know the power of psychology, and the role it plays in the male psyche, which majority of congress is made up of males, if congress were mostly all woman, we might not be in the economic mess were in.

Now the conscientious part, how many people have been a conscientious objector? And where has that gotten them or their movement…no where. So why would I want be apart of that movement.

To be a conscientious objector is just a trap another way to silence other more powerful ideas, TocsFae is one of them. The top 1% who pull the strings of corruption does not want you to look their way the banks/corporate promoted that ideology to trick the pubic or to slow down any awakening to their scams. Please do not be fooled.

I have voice the same concerns the law will come after them, they told me to read the context on the site, and it will explain what to do, but I could never find it. looks like they did some restructuring and it may have gotten lost in between. I also mentioned which side were they on? they said there are many view points to content with in the group.

[-] 1 points by GinaLola (210) 12 years ago

I'm still having a hard time understanding what good it does to send your tax returns to Congress. Your congressman does not open their own mail. It is handled off campus in another facility set up for anthrax or reicin poisoning problems and other terrorist threats. Chances are, your Congressman will never see your returns and they will never enter their office. They may not even be notified of the action. Even if they were informed of your intentions, what good does it do? Please clarify in simple, well-written, easy to understand terms.

[-] 1 points by TomHall (58) 12 years ago

Having congress prepare for incoming tax mail as mention in the plan probably meant a set up system to make sure congress receives your mail. (at least that is what I took away from it)

If congress knew of money/checks sent their way, I believe some how some way it would be facilitated out of the facility.... because well, money talks and bull walks. I think you are underestimating the power of money, once our money is in the congress hands corporate/banks will not be able to easily pull the covers over their eyes, congress can only stand up to the bankers/corporate when there is meat (our money) involved, I believe a lot of our issues will be met, and this plan can enhanced the movement too.

However, I do not think the plan is perfect and I do not know what the next step will bring but it is a first good start!

any more questions please clarify in simple, well-written, easy to understand terms.

Drummers create energy into the air, resonating something deep within our being, our auditory space, which which moves all of us into a rhythmic unity... However freedom vs. control is an interesting reality of liberty for all.

I've seen several people refer to Socialism and Communism regarding OWS. Yet most, if asked to give a clear definition of these terms, would be hard pressed to do so.

What is communism is a great question to ask the average person walking the streets. Here's a simple excercise that can clarify this discussion for so many that have just accepted we live in a "free country" as we "spread Democracy" around the world...

Let's look at 3 documents side by side. The first is the Ten Commandments, and it matters not if you're Christian, Jewish, Atheists,... , we're just going to look at the document. The second is the Bill of Rights and the third is the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx.

The first says: Thou shalt not... The document is based on the concept that we have the right to pursue life, liberty and happiness as long as we honor those around us. That in our pursuit we don't knock down our neighbors fence or do anything that might be injurious to another human being. It's a basic foundation of morals and integrity.

The second document, The Bill of Rights, was an addendum to The Constitution which was a binding document from We The People to restrict the government to operate within the 10 square miles of the District of Columbia. That document was presented to some very wise people who said: "Great job, but not quite good enough..." They created an additional 17 articles, 10 of which were accepted as The Bill Of Rights, Freedom of speech, Freedom of press, Freedom of religion,....

The third document is the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx which says: Government control of transportation, Government control of education, Government control of farming, etc...

Now of these three documents, which do you feel is closer to the way our country exists today?

[-] 1 points by TomHall (58) 12 years ago

Good point, which world would you rather live in?

[-] 1 points by Barefootin (33) 12 years ago

Tom - I choose to live in a world guided by the first two docs. I honor others, their spirits, their difference, their talents and values they bring to the table, and avoid any action which might infringe on their rights. I am not here to control anyone but rather bring value to their lives and appreciate the value they bring to mine. I avoid gossip and follow an old principle that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

John Lennon, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa.... There is a long list of incredibly good people who have walked the talk of treating all others with respect. The police have dishonored all of these principles and I wonder, if their sons and daughters were in the crowd of people, and they went to push, shove, throw on the hard ground, and all of a sudden recognized the face of their own family, would they stop their action? Would they realize we are all one family sharing this beautiful planet together?

Give peace a chance. Love your brother. Treat others as if they were part of your family, because they are!

I know this is describing a world of paradise, however, why not create that which honors all other living creatures on our planet? Who was it that said: Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country! Unfortunately, both JFK and Lincoln tried to stand up against the international bankers and look what happened to them!!! It's not easy to kill the beast, even from the seat of the Presidency...

[-] 1 points by TomHall (58) 12 years ago

Preach on brother, you are so right

[-] 0 points by golfjabroni (4) 12 years ago

Here is a little story. Once upon a time, there was a boy who grew up in a trailer home, never had new clothes, and used food stamps. He worked hard, went to college, took out loans, and graduated. Now, he is a teacher, he has repaid his loans, and he is living a fine life. He is part of the 99%, but he is content. Rule your own destiny people! Don't blame someone else.

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

That's a great story. So, are you saying you're OK with the corruption in government and in the financial and housing sectors and in many other areas?

[-] 1 points by golfjabroni (4) 12 years ago

Not at all. However, the problem isn't Wall Street. It is the fact that the government is involved at all. Unfortunately, people still think that we need more and more government involvement, when we really need less.

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

The fault lies with BOTH government AND Wall St. We need governmental regulations in some places but not everywhere.... such as, we don't need government controlling reproduction and marriage. We need government to help those who are oppressed and discriminated against by enacting laws and acts. Saying we need less government across the board is too general.

[-] 1 points by ShowRealHist (60) 12 years ago

Thoughtful and correct I would say. Have you any ideas for effectively telling people this? Condemn venal journalism for severely fooling the people http://occupywallst.org/forum/condemn-venal-journalism-for-severely-fooling-the-/ I reckon that the main enabler of sizable asset price bubbles (very harmful) is keeping the real price histories out of sight.

The attorney general of NY State was on MSNBC last night, and he is going after those who are responsible. They are investigating transactions that took place in NY (most stem from NY and I think New Jersey or one other state near NY).
