One only fails when one gives up.

Then we shall never surrender.

People will tire and step back. They shouldn't feel bad about doing that. As long as the issues are still issues, and that could be a long time, other people will take their place. The way OWS is set up, it should be able to last a long time as a rolling protest, meaning a constant turnover of participants. The single most important thing for OWS and its supporters to do is dispel the deliberate misinformation that gets spread. I was in the Nuclear Freeze Movement. The Liar In Chief, Ronald Reagan, was the First Misinformer about that one. We really had the deck stacked against us that time!

Do you think you we going to defeat a global complex that has been built up over centuries in 60 days?

This is just the beginning. We have many victories already, and we have barely started.

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

HEAR, HEAR!

It will be a long battle. But what OWS has already accomplished in less than 60 days is nothing short of miraculous.

Promote the hell out of the day of action on the 17th- http://occupywallst.org/action/november-17th/

That's how we keep this thing moving.

[-] 2 points by AFarewellToKings (1486) 12 years ago

street level protesting keeps OWS moving along. Holding a National General Assembly moves OWS up to the next level. Have a close read https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/

here is my two cents; It has always been my opinion that the protesters were one piece of a larger movement. Everyone should do what they can. Peaceful protesting is not being banned.. just the tents, etc. If protesting is your thing, continue to show up. Mass amounts of people coming together cannot be overlooked. Don't think of this as the end, it is just another day in a road that will be filled with struggle. I agree with those who say, look at the bright side. Occupy is an idea and it really has nothing to do with camping in the city.

[-] 2 points by AFarewellToKings (1486) 12 years ago

Yes, occupy is a wake-up call, a shot across the bow. OWS has everything to do with staging the National General Assembly: https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/

I think it's kinda dumb to think that physically occupying a space is what's necessary to enact change. Why not march on Washington? Why not get organized? Why not try to win 1 battle at a time? etc.

[-] 2 points by AFarewellToKings (1486) 12 years ago

the act of occupying should have been seen as a shot across the bow. It's effectiveness is now being diminished, of course it was going to come to this. They should have preempted the order to vacate. Oh well, as you say they better get their act together. The march is to Philadelphia, not Washington for the same symbolic reasons it was OWS not ODC. We. Are. The 99% https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/

Go to City Hall. Pass it on.

[-] 1 points by Biker (-5) 12 years ago

No more occupy ! We can not occupy more . No use to occupy since we are in real not the 99% !

[-] 1 points by Biker (-5) 12 years ago

This shit movement tough us that to defeat power you must need power. We don't have power.

[-] 2 points by AFarewellToKings (1486) 12 years ago

learning is power, making us free" We do still have the power tools the founding fathers left us: 1st Amendment and the ballot box. I know it's hard not to be jaded but feelings don't change facts.

WHEREAS THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION PROVIDES THAT:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

WE, THE NINETY-NINE PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in order to form a more perfect Union, by, for and of the PEOPLE, shall elect and convene a NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY beginning on July 4, 2012 in the City Of Philadelphia.

I think camping in a park and not leaving till demands are met was always a foolish resort. Police actions are cheap. The OWS folks have been on the streets with no sleep all day.

Even if the judge allows them back in, Occupiers will celebrate on a cement park with no tents or sleeping bags...its gonna be a long night.

Two months in and neither Wall street or Politicians have caved. Maybe now is a good time to change tactics.

[-] 1 points by AFarewellToKings (1486) 12 years ago

OWS should have declared the occupation suspended on 11/11/11 and simultaneously announced the National General Assembly starting July 4th 2012 in Philadelphia. The one demand the 99% should have at this point is the NGA, and we don't rely on anyone else (the 1%) to grant this. https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/

To be fair, two months is an absurdly short time to expect any sort of meaningful change.

[-] 1 points by OccupyForever (38) 12 years ago

Where are all of the demonstrators on this forum?

[-] 0 points by RicoSuave (218) 12 years ago

You are defeated. The OWS crime and filth party is over.

It is now time to go home and go back to using indoor toilets and toilet paper.

Even if you Occupy again, you are still defeated if all you continue to do is bang drums and talk at meetings. The laws that allow banks to operate come from Washington, that is where this movement needs to be. Camping in a city park is good for drawing attention, and you have attention. Now there has to be action.

If all you do is put the tents back up and get the kitchen going again, you will be defeated.

You're toast!

[-] 1 points by OccupyForever (38) 12 years ago

You don't think we'll try again?

[-] 1 points by DudleyE (94) 12 years ago

Go for it, it's your right to try!

[-] -1 points by VladimirMayakovsky (796) 12 years ago

Defeated. Better surrender.

[-] -1 points by Biker (-5) 12 years ago

[-] 0 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

Spare Canada... please move to a TROLLDOM - where you belong. :)

[-] 1 points by Biker (-5) 12 years ago

Trolldom ? We can move both to there. Master of trolling you are!

[-] 0 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

Thanks but no thanks... Having a wife and kids, I prefer not to have a troll in my backyard.

[-] 1 points by Biker (-5) 12 years ago

To All Occupiers Heartfelt Condolences ! If you lost your tent yesterday I am ready to donate a very special one !

It is a bad idea and spamming every other thread with it doesn't make it any better.

[-] 0 points by OccupyForever (38) 12 years ago

Or try this kids idea. http://billiondollar.me and make him give 50% to occupy wall street.
