There are apparently many having extreme problems finding a parking lot.

They seem to be stuck in a pot hole somewhere..............:)

Got it.

Global warming and cooling is a natural occurrence. Over the last 350,000 years the earth's temperature has risen and fallen four times without the help of man. Ocean levels have risen and dropped 400 feet. The difference in the temperature peak we are seeing now is a 30% increase in the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. Whether this will continue the temperature rise is uncertain.

Do you support cutting the amount of pollution we create?

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 11 years ago

I'm in favor of cutting the excessive consumption that is responsible for the excessive pollution. The problem is too many people think more is better, no matter the cost to society, and the environment. They've been brainwashed to consume more and more by Madison Avenue for the past 60 years and it'll be helluva fight to convince them to buy less.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I agree. American consumption is a big reason we pollute so much.

My point was that we can probably all agree that we must cut pollution even if some of us still deny the science.

Rather than fight over the science (which I agree with the 98% of scientists) we should agree on cutting, and actually cut each of our own pollution.

That is probably the the fastest, effective way to reduce the pollution that threatens us.

Happy thanksgiving.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

I don't think so! The science is settled. I don't entertain the climate change deniers. I think they are just RW wacko fossil fuel shills.

Are you one of those?

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 11 years ago

Not at all. I don't deny that climate change is occurring. Just that it's a gradual and natural process that takes 100,000 plus years for each cycle to repeat.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

So you don't deny there is global warming/climate change but you do deny that human fossil fuel burning is causing global warming/climate change.

Not much difference. 98% of climate scientists disagree with you, & I think it is time to stop giving deniers any serious consideration. It IS time to xfer all fossil fuel/nuclear power subsidies to greentech, massive projects to make all building efficient. and get the job done.

Climate change could potentially make coffee extinct. Maybe that will get more people that usually don't care to give a shit.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

Then we will have GM coffee. I suppose they are already working on it.

Drain Bammaged - temporarily relieved of sense? I mean really - who does not know that the canals are open sewers? Will we see an outbreak of bacterial illnesses due to this?

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

Well let's hope they have been told and are ok. I think the Photog should have told them (after he got the shot). I am reassured that there aren't more people in there. I suppose they are Americans. Sigh!

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Tourists anyway. Tourists seem to leave sense at home when they go traveling.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

Darwin might say It is the "culling of the race". The stupid will be weeded out (die from disintary?). But I'm just kidding.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Kidding or not it is an interesting thought that many have considered and are still considering "Civilization ( the taming of many dangers ) has allowed the stupid to survive" ( perhaps even thrive ).

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

yes, I understand. but we must help all who struggle. Even stupid people. It is one of the things that makes us human.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

OH I agree - everyone should be given a chance to live well - I think that is what society/civilization should be ALL ABOUT. This is just another project that has not gotten enough involvement - " How Do You Make The Stupid As Smart As They Can Be? Another program of continuous process improvement - research in education and application as well as removing organic causes for learning impairments - like artificial dye and sweeteners - reduction of sugar intake in general etc etc. Many are not stupid - just not properly educated and/or fed. Pollution is also a poisoner - of the mind/brain as well as the rest of the body.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

You are right on. All these factors hurt people. I support efforts to correct those problems.

Climate change is real. What is questionable is the left wing fear mongering regarding it's causes and cures. Do you really think that if we stopped driving cars and using electricity it would refreeze the poles in a decade?

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

No. And no one is suggesting that. Why do you ask such a meaningless, ridiculous question.

[-] 0 points by freakyfriday (179) 11 years ago

Then why are you folks advocating carbon taxes and green energy in the name of global warming?

The climate changes. I believe it.

Venice is a city built on pilings sunk into the clay soil on the bottom. In the 1950's, the city began to pull water out of the lagoon for industry-which caused the soil to compact and the city literally began sinking. Venice sank close to 20 centimeters in twenty years before they figured out why it was sinking and stopping pumping water out of the lagoon.

Venice has always battled the sea and will continue to.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3069305.stm Venice's 1,500-year battle with the waves

"The people of Venice have been battling the waves since the city was first established as a sanctuary during the collapse of the Roman Empire in the 5th Century.

"If you dig down below any old building, you find there's a kind of lasagne of archaeological layers, going right back to the very first stage," Ms Summers-Cox said."

BUT they are trying something unique to help save the city-Project Moses. Can't wait to see if it works.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

The science is settled. Let's get beyond this.

[-] -3 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

Climate change is about the redistribution of wealth and nothing else. The Earth's temp has risen 1 degree in the past one hundred years

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

That's funny. The facts are undeniable. We must protest for ending the pollution that is destroying the planet.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Spread the word.

Green Tech. New and improved - now with Liquid Metal Battery for efficient power storage and distribution.

This is where we should be going: Green Energy we have the technology we just need to use it. This is what I am talking about. A clean future to be implemented NOW!

BTW - Trains have electric engines - there are semis working in the ports that have electric engines - why couldn't a bulldozer ?

BTW : Other alternative fuels result in airplane performance penalties. For example, liquid hydrogen (LH2) not only presents very substantial airport infrastructure and airplane design issues, but because of the need for heavy fuel tanks, a short-range airplane would experience a 28 percent decrease in energy efficiency while on a 500-nautical-mile (nmi) mission. However, because airplanes need to carry much more fuel for a long range flight, and Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) fuel is quite lightweight the lighter takeoff weight of the airplane results in an energy efficiency loss of only 2 percent while on a 3,000-nm mission.

Support green energy technology - industry - jobs. Save our world save our economy.

Rework free trade agreements as they are currently detrimental to the Business, Employment, Economic and Environmental health of the USA and in extension the world.

Put an end to outsourcing for Profit over People and the environment.

Stop world wide corporate abuses of people and environments.

Whoa! This will take time to read. Looks good on 1st skim. Thank you.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

You are welcome. One of my favorite things to advocate - Green Energy implementation.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

There are so many benefits, clean planet, jobs, safer energy. Seems like a no brainer. But I guess opponents have no brains? Kidding!

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Opponents if they are just regular people are often just uneducated and unaware. Other opponents are greedy and already set-up in the fossil fuel market and are not gonna switch to anything else until they have to - Hence the processing of the dregs of a diminishing resource = tar sands & shale fracking.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

Right. Just today I saw a news feed stating the US will be #1 oil producer in a few years. (tar sands related no doubt). So stopping this planetary devastation will just get more difficult as that occurs. We must get real change in this area as quickly as possible.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Educational outreach to the public - it has started and many are beginning to wake-up - we need to continue the process.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

The first and most important priority in making progress on this issue is education/outreach. The guy below (nowsmich) is not receptive in the least. But that is a rarity. Most people are coming around.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

nowsmich is a shill an attacker of doing good - for whatever reason - he is an attacker. This forum gets attacked on a regular/daily basis.

[-] 2 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

Sad. Useless. Hateful. And yet Entertaining.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Entertaining?

Well at times it is fun to slap down the sad/useless/hateful/stupidity.

[-] 0 points by BetsyRoss (-744) 11 years ago

The fact is that the Earth's "average" temperature has risen 1.33 degrees F in the past 100 years. Ice core samples and sediment samples prove that the Earth's temperature has fluctuated-rising and falling-for thousands of years. It's undeniable.

[-] 0 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

Every since "climate break" got onto the scene, poor Al Gore then had to stop construction on mansion #5. You do not see that dog chyt in the news much anymore since he is keeping a very low profile.

[-] 1 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

How is that related?

[-] -2 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

The climate change scientist emails have been exposed now for over two years. In some of those emails were exchanges between the scientist on how they had to lie about the climate change in order to get more funding

[-] 2 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

That was proven to be a red herring. False story. The current extreme weather is stronger evidence that we all must stop polluting our planet.

[-] -2 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

Global warming and that explains why here in Michigan it does not start to warm up until around July,!!!!!!!! Damm that Global warming bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

[-] 2 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

Climate change has resulted in extreme weather at all ends of the spectrum. Warm Winters, Shortened Springs. Droughts (midwest), Unusual Deluges (Venice) We ignore the indisputable facts at our own peril. Please stop polluting your planet.
