Forum Post: Who can be our candidate?

Posted 12 years ago on Oct. 26, 2011, 1:36 p.m. EST by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

We need a candidate that speaks for the 99%. We cannot just work within the democratic party. Dems receive more money from Wall Street than republicans do. Look it up. Obama has received more from Wall Street than any politician in history. Look up the Dems that opposed the bankster bailout. Fewer dems than republicans.

Those here that say we have to get behind Obama are Democrat shills working for the Obama campaign, and not true believers in the cause. We need a candidate that will let them know we're serious.

Those that say a 3rd party is doomed to fail are not true believers. They want to tinker around the edges and hope Obama eventually cuts the puppet strings. They do not believe that we are truly the 99%, they think we are a fringe movement that can be used by the democrats.

So... who should we get behind? My suggestions: Bernie Sanders Dennis Kucinich Michael Greenberger Van Jones

Any other suggestions?

Elizabeth Warren. She had been standing up to Wall Street for a while.

Excellent choice!

[-] 1 points by uncleduck (10) 12 years ago

Ralph Nader was and has been fighting this battle for decades!

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

He can't articulate the message. We need a 99% candidate

[-] 1 points by IMSoPoor (40) 12 years ago

Elmer Fud for President! Bugs Bunny for vice President!

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

I'm glad our future is a joke to you.

[-] 1 points by IMSoPoor (40) 12 years ago

I'm gald that you imagine your helping America. Still, Elmer Fud would be better than the dope in office now.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

I'm trying to help America. What are you doing?

[-] 1 points by IMSoPoor (40) 12 years ago

Helping America by exposing the fact that your NOT helping America.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

You'RE definitely not helping America's grammar.

[-] 1 points by IMSoPoor (40) 12 years ago

Speaking of grammar.....

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

go on...

[-] 1 points by IMSoPoor (40) 12 years ago

You'RE obviously not smart. Get it? RE?

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

I'm not smart because I know the difference between "your" and "you're".

Good point.

From what I've read about paul, he seems to stand for the kind of ideals we're looking for. We need to step away from the dem rep nonsense and actually look for a person with real integrity. In defense of paul, he has been consistent throughout his tenure.

[-] 1 points by mgiddin1 (1057) from Linthicum, MD 12 years ago

Your username seems to indicate that you still think the left has any integrity left at all when compared with the right.

There is no difference between right and left. Obama is just as bad if not worse than Bush was.

Keep waving that blue team flag - it's the one that has sold us all up the river along with the red one - because the truth is, they're both out for themselves and they don't give sh!t about the people at all.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

"Left" doesn't mean "democrat". Left means liberal/progressive/social justice/social equality/fairness.

The right now includes MOST democrats.

[-] 1 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

What do you think of Romney?

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Romney vs. Obama would be Wall Street Bitch vs. Wall Street Bitch

[-] 1 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

There will not be a major 3rd party candidate in 2012. Just not enough time. Maybe for 2016, but for now you are stuck with Obama or Romney most likely.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Well, since we're screwed either way with them, we might as well build up as much as a 3rd party we can to send a message.

[-] 1 points by notaneoliberal (2269) 12 years ago

Definitely Kucinich

[-] 1 points by larocks (414) from Lexington, KY 12 years ago

my suggestion is the one problem all of the presidents in recent history all have the same thing in common. they are rich. the rich ruleing for the rich. we need someone poor who has lived the poor life. someone who knows what it means to tighten their belt because they cant live high on the hog. thats what we need. a person installed with the virtues to lead men because they have been there. this isnt a fair system were all these people running for president are rich. take romney for example. dude doesnt cut his own grass. he hires a firm to do it. sure alot of americans do this but has he ever started a lawn mower before. hell i would just like to see a poor president in there. that way i would know that the values of the poor are in his thoughts.

[-] 1 points by gtyper (477) from San Antonio, TX 12 years ago

If I were voting - it'd be Ron Lawl.

I don't think he is perfect and I disagree with a lot of his points --- but I think he's the only current candidate that hasn't completely sold out.

[-] 1 points by mikeband (20) from Klamath Falls, OR 12 years ago

Before we get behind Obama we need Obama to get in front of OWS and pledge to support OWS demands.

[-] 2 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

His pledge would be a lie like all his other promises. His pockets are lined with Wall Street money. More so than anyone in history.

[-] 1 points by mikeband (20) from Klamath Falls, OR 12 years ago

Then you impeach him.

[-] 1 points by LetsGetReal (1420) from Grants, NM 12 years ago

breaking campaign promises is not an impeachable offense.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Unfortunately

[-] 1 points by KingCobe (52) from Baltimore, MD 12 years ago

Fuck Obama.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Right on!

[-] 1 points by mikeband (20) from Klamath Falls, OR 12 years ago

Republican or Democrat doesn't matter - I will only vote vote for candidates that will pledge to work tirelessly to get corporate money out of politics and corporate influence out of government. I have yet to see a candidate willing to take that on. Obama failed to follow through.

[-] 1 points by mgiddin1 (1057) from Linthicum, MD 12 years ago

Depends on who you talk to. He didn't fail to follow through for his military contractor buddies or the fatcats on Wall Street.

[-] 1 points by jph (2652) 12 years ago

we need a completely new system of collective organisation,. voting in the old system will not bring that about,.

[-] 1 points by April (3196) 12 years ago

Tinkering around the edges! I've been saying the same thing - to my Representative - for years! They all tinker around the edges, thats all they CAN do because they are so corrupted.

My suggestion - http://www.buddyroemer.com/

He does not take any PAC or special interest money. At least he has that going for him. Unfortunately, because of that, nobody knows him either. He can't even get into the primary debates. His website is lacking details. Clearly, he needs help, support, donations, volunteers. I'm considering volunteering.

I say, find an insider on our side, such as Michael Greenberger:

Former Head of U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Professor Michael Greenberger, speaks to Congress on the high price of oil--and he's not happy about Energy Deregulations:

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

I'm prepared to get behind Greenberger. We need to get the word out.

[-] 1 points by Howtodoit (1232) 12 years ago

Great. And I have no idea what his interest level may be, but, either way, he needs to be on the financial reform committee!

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

It seems like it would be unlikely that he would run. Who would be willing to do the right thing and would also be willing and able to run?

[-] 1 points by Droid24JG (119) from New York, NY 12 years ago

You vote for the replacement, so you demand what they need to represent.

Some of these folks have no oposition.

Replace them with new Wall Street puppets...no thanks. We need a real national candidate to give this movement the influence it needs.

[-] 1 points by trob888 (25) 12 years ago

Our candidate is Ron P aul.

[-] 1 points by FightTheRight (34) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Ron P aul doesn't care about our living rights. Our right to a living wage, health care, education.

Try again

[-] 2 points by libertarianincle (312) from Cleveland, OH 12 years ago

I am sorry, where again do those rights come from?
