Forum Post: URGENT: Occupying the Subway is a BAD idea.

If you occupy the subway and stop people from getting home you'll only alienate the masses. Learn from the BART shooting protests in San Francisco. Rather than rallying the public to their cause it turned them off to the message.

I agree, blocking hard working people from going to or from work is a BAD IDEA. The 1% aren't taking the SUBWAY!!!!!!!

YES! Now this is GOOD THEATER. Makes a point that can't be dodged or talked away, indeed, forces those clowns to hear about it again and again. Why? They will tell their associates, their wives, their children, and those folks will talk, and the topic will haunt them. This is similar to the tactic I used as an Executive with JANE FONDA and DONALD SUTHERLAND's Entertainment Industry for Peace and Justice, when I used Street Theater as a tool to tweak sleeping minds into having a look at frozen beliefs, and seeing a more lawful way for us all, better for all. NOBODY MUCH SEEMED TO ENJOY US IN THEIR FACE, but they didn't forget us! Our message was delivered to the MOVERS and the SHAKERS. YES, but how do you get on those tall roofs of the Macho Corporations to do so? Their security won't let you if you are honest. Steal some stealth and prosper your cause!

Look for ways to make the Police and others be brutal... for now, don't be brutal back. THIS will generate more joiners, NOT blocking the subways, stopping traffic or terrorizing citizens. It's the establishment that's broken...

morning protest is just as bad though, b/c you stop tens of thousands in the 99% from getting to work. stopping business generally should not be the aim

Given the choice between not being able to get to work, and not being able to get home, I know which I would choose.

Yeah I kind of agree with that one your won't find the 1% riding the subways just hardworking people who are just as screwed as you. Now you are going to make their ride home hell, not a good idea. You should be infiltrating all the 1 percent's venues. You have to be careful not to alienate people.

Blocking the Subway is an idiot idea, stupid. insultive, counter-productive, childish, macho. arrogant, ill-informed, and nobody should listen to the fools so engaged. They too are part of the problem. The right to TRAVEL without RESTRAINT is fundamenal. So these BLOCKERS are of the same childish mentality as the losers operating the failed system. As Einstein says, you can't solve the trouble, from the same level. Shit doesn't clean shit, Pal. Wake up. Think. Find your heat. Reform your ignorance.

The aim of this movement should be to cause the establishment to lash out at us. This will incur the sympathies of those uninvolved. More will join in time. If we cause those we seek to influence to join us in the movement undue duress, we alienate our base and risk collapse. We need a focus...

Cheating people out of a days pay is a great idea. You know some people don't have PTO to use or a day off with pay is not possible. So,yeah that would really win over everybody. With this kind of genius OWS will be on the shit list of everybody soon enough. This would be a good thing.

I agree, but if people are hell bent on occupying the subway, the morning is a better time. EVERYBODY wants to go home after work. A smaller percentage actually want to go to work. You alienate fewer people with a morning protest.
