I just heard this posed on the PBS news hour as a possible reason as to why many are spending money right now. Spend now before you lose the dollar value in rising tax rates and rising prices.

Another scare tactic resulting in spending?

If people really are shopping in record numbers this holiday season, its because they are freaking too dumb to manage their money.

The last thing "they" want are lackluster sales going into the holiday shopping season. They lie about every other stat that matters, cant see why they wouldnt lie about this one.

True - last year was stated to be larger in sales then actual when end of year reporting was filed. I do not put aside this possibility as that is common practice these days - bald faced lies to the public - to allay fears - to allay opposition to failed practices etc

Maybe the public is excited about the fact that the Bush era tax cuts are going to expire in January and return us to the golden era of Clinton by putting taxes back where they were doing that time of prosperity. ....

OMG - Bitsey - what have they done to you - I've actually seen you make a couple of good comments now.

When do you drop the other shoe?

Wait.....I thought you could read my mind....are you saying you can't?

Maybe I'm just "coming around" to the "logic" being used here! Maybe I'm being sarcastic!

Which part of my comment(s) on this thread do you consider "good"?
