The major problem this forum faces is a couple of master trolls, one of whom you know well who has managed to win over a fan club here. That is the forum's biggest problem, not partisan politics. We're having a presidential election in less than 2 months, that is natural. I do not like it either but it is not the major problem of the forum. That will all subside in due time.
The troll dude from Canada is the major problem. He's continually using his very sharp brain to win people over and convince them that this really isn't a movement of the 99%. But, as far as I know we are still the 99% and everyone should be welcome here so we can get this thing moving again.

No we aren't all going to agree on everything, but obviously by reading this thread, the topic has been about perceived favoritism and partisanship. There was a heavy reaction, am I wrong? I don't see how those complaints are over the top or somehow strange or trollish. Foul mouthed, yes.

I share your indifference to the election. I feel, however, that this is a wide, deep problem that people need to work through, talk it out.
In 1979 I was 21 years old during the hostage crisis in Iran. You are probably too young to know much about it. I was certainly totally apolitical at the time. The media whipped up mass hysteria against Iran, comparable to no other political crisis in my life, not even 9/11. Every day BOOM ba BOOM, DAY 194 of the crisis. Today we'll talk with a woman who taught one of our hostages in 3rd grade. What kind of boy was he?
I learned from the US media that the CIA had overthrown an elected government in Iran in 1953, and sponsored a vicious dictator (all admitted by the US papers) who enriched himself while murdering and torturing opposition.
In response the revolutionary government in Iran demanded an apology. And they were holding 50 hostages (basically unharmed).
Seemed to me that the Iranians had every right to expect an apology.

In my younger years, I did not listen very well, but later, I learned to. And that was when I absorbed some of what they (MG &MLK) said and did. I believe that has aided me greatly in in many ways. It's is not about aspiring to be like them, it is about you, the individual, learning from them, and using those exemplary lessons in your life. Now, take the time out as suggested, clear your mind, and then come back and listen better than you have.

I believe that setting a good example would be the best for everyone. Instead of fueling the fires, why not provide some sanity to a situation. Gandhi spoke with a soft, yet clear voice amid chaos. And people listened. King spoke with wisdom and passion. And people listened. There is quite a difference between people hearing and people listening. People will listen only when they want to. It is up to each of us to make that happen.
