It is clear that now Transymaque, alias Trashy of forum imfamy, can now not only up-vote and down-vote comments here at will, completly skewing real impressions of a comments relative populariy on this site - much worse, he can now apperently insert words into the comments of others, and also delete the comments of others here at will.
In these last efforts at sabotage, he has crossed the line. If anyone, for any reason, gets that much power over this forum then this forum no longer represents free-speech, and therefore no longer represents the larger movement. Therefore I am ceasing my contribution.
I still consider myself a strong supporter of this movement, and will miss all those I have met and respect here, but will no longer contribute on this forum.
Any further comments from GypsyKing WILL Not be from me.
Thanks for all of your contributions here and your dedication to creating a better world.

Check in once in a while to see if the Thrasymaque problem has been cleared up. This latest bit of activity from him may be what tips the boat, and sets the mods into action against him. I get a sense that this could be happening.

I just thought I'd post this again as an explanation for why I no longer comment here. I did what I could to turn the tide, as so many others have done, but somewhere this forum and this movement has temporarily lost it's way through infiltration . . . yet the underlying power of the movement still exists and will make itself felt again.
Sometimes it's better to rest, to focus on positivity, to watch as events unfold, to spend time in a fishing boat, to cultivate a garden - but above all else to renew the peace in our hearts, the spark of The Positive that brought us together, and that will bring us together again.
There are too many (or simply a few with too much technological apptitude) here now, whose sole motive is to spread antagonism and division. They are temporarily getting the upper hand, but our unity, created out of an intense internal focus on the vision of the good and on human unification Will Prevail in the end.
I know that to be true.
We must reject all the messages of division, paranoia, and dellusion -go back to a peaceful, centered place and start all over again, each finding his or her own most effective place to continute to the struggle for humanity and for the good.
It's been a great effort many have put forward here, and it has been more effective than many here will probably ever know. So let us remain flexible, continue to press for truth, but recognise what is. . . Face the truth unflinchingly.
It has been a great awakening, a great start in the fight to regain human dignity, and I will thank Occupy for that . . . always.

The only trolls here are people like Girlfriday, shooz, and DKAtoday, who attack many many users with name calling, profanity, insults, and other logical fallacies. They also make it a point to separate the left and right wings in partisan politic fashion by singling out the stereotypical label "right wing" shills. Occupy is not about this at all. It's about bringing the left and right together over common ground to form the 99%. There are many issues, like corruption in politics, which affect us all.
I'm sorry conspiracy theorists made up stories about Thrasymaque. It's sad you left because of those lies and delusions.
There are transgressions by some people from time to time but to achieve the American maxim "E pluribus unum (out-of-many one)" we just need to learn to tolerate each other and perhaps even learn to appreciate the unique perspectives brought here by others.
I was accused of having multiple ids or being a doorknob but I know that the accusations are false. I suspect that I did have a schizophrenic tendency sometimes as viewed by highly partisan participants but I do not feel myself divided against myself at all, perhaps I am a truly basket case of multiple personalities? As long as I aim for my values, I do not feel any shame or guilt by not satisfying partisanship.
Thrasymaque disrupted this forum before by posting many pictures that had rendered threads rather difficult to navigate and read. There was a simple workaround -- to close those sections of pictures. Thrasymaque started flame wars with others so I had even tried to tamp the flames down a bit but ultimately we are all "adults" I hope, so we can all tolerate a little bit of "adulteration," can we not?

Similar to Thrasymaque, I do not like conspiracy theorists' seemingly not willing to dig hard into the discernible facts and inferences but unlike Thrasymaque I do not hold it against them as much, perhaps because I see good value in having multiple hypotheses, however absurd some may seem. When confronted with an enigma, I truly feel dejected if I have run out of hypotheses. That is really death to the quest, a dead end, and an impenetrable blockage -- very sad indeed.
GirlFriday, if you remember history, when someone was threatening you with physical violence, I stated what an IP address could tell investigators and what charge they could push for. It was, I think, a successful attempt to tamp down the overheated exchanges on this forum a bit. Passion about a cause is one thing but not being civil to other OWS participants is a different thing and less acceptable. To grow OWS means to assimilate and assimilation means consumption of what is not already ours. We must make what is not OWS, OWS. It is not good to drive newbies away with flaming before we have a chance to 'educate' them.

My view is that we are all participants in this forum so we all need to adhere to some rules self-consciously to promote the general well being of all participants so yes, I believe that using bots, puppets, multiple ids, and insults are off limits for adults but adults come from naughty children sometimes so I guess that we just have to use our parental skills.

We also feel a visceral relief and satisfaction when we see it addressed: when equilibrium is restored, a wrong righted or amends made. This sense of fairness and equality also tells us that we are of value. Without equality, we sense we are less important, less worthy, less deserving, all of which can lead to a sense of shame
safety/ survival – obviously a strong drive for humans and all organisms is to stay healthy and whole. The brain is constantly analyzing others and our surroundings for threats and opportunities, and sometimes it senses a threat when there clearly isn’t one, and this helps to explain why we can have seemingly disproportionate reactions to things
meaning/ contribution – we long for something larger than ourselves to relate to, and to be of worth to others. Mostly we have an innate desire to contribute to life, to the well-being of others, in some way. And if that doesn’t seem true in some cases, remember that how some people go about that, and what some people might consider a “contribution”, can vary wildly
freedom/ choice – all creatures want autonomy and self-determination. We hate being constrained in our choices when it comes from outside ourselves.

I work really hard with jart to nail the guy who posted the porn. He was coming to the site and spamming it with links to his business. He was extremely aggressive. I tracked down his real name, and after posting it he stopped coming to the site. He got angry, imitated my username, then posted porn to tarnish my reputation. The porn was up for only a few hours, with a username that looked like mine. People got confused. Jart erased all of it, so it can't be verified now unless you ask her.
I wish people took time to verify claims and provide real evidence when they made accusations. It's extremely dangerous to go down the conspiracy theory path and accuse people without proper evidence, but only with gossip.
If you want to spread that lie, I suggest you ask what happened to jart first.

I have been private-messaging with Thrasymaque so pardon me if I appear to be very distracted. He has some good points about 'educating' the U.S. populace that when and if he approves I will share with you.
Education about fearing propaganda is good (Yes, beware of the jubjub bird!). Having people attach probabilities to pictures or scenarios in their minds and evaluate them accordingly is also good. Applying some of the methods of inquiries from antiquity and more recently, such as the Socratic method, the scientific method, Bayesian inference, reduction to absurdity or proof by contradiction, etc. can all be helpful.
I believe that I stand for something but of course I can be mistaken, again, gasp! Yay, what is infinity plus one? Still infinity! Maybe because of my older age that I have learned that we are all fallible. I do not even trust my younger self. I can criticize my younger self and understand why I had fallen for something. Perhaps the quest for Truth and understanding is just that, a journey, not a destination. If it takes age to self-criticize, there IS HOPE for all people because we ALL AGE. I just hope that we all gain more mental skills as we age to sharpen our mental faculties and grow our wisdom.

We as a movement are ever going to be a force to be reckoned with.... we need to figure out how to unite all of us ....
and see how We all have something to say.... and something of value ...
else We will become cliques of similar interests and similar opinions ....
imo... Thrasy is complicated ... I see him purposely challenging us....
If we could only harness his energy ... or convince him to help us organize the issues... as opposed to organizing our purpose.... we would All gain ... including Thrasy ....

I wish I was paid to post here. I'm not unfortunately. The truth is, you simply can't accept people who disagree with your point of view so you attack them with made up stories. It's not very stimulating intellectually. It's OK to disagree. We can discuss like adults using proper arguments, and perhaps we could agree on some points. If no progress can be made, then we can agree to disagree like adults. I don't understand this idea of attacking people you disagree with. We're never going to create common ground in this manner. People are complex, you'll never agree on 100% of issues with anybody. We have to focus on common objectives and goals we can all agree on. The only trolls at this moment are the ones who attack others by calling them names, insults, profanity, and who accuse them of things like being paid shills without providing evidence. You should use a proper means of discourse.
