Everyone is wondering, "What is the People's Library thinking?"

The current plan to rebuild Occupy Wall Street's People's Library is "working with the civil rights attorney Normal Siegel on a lawsuit against the Bloomberg administration and the NYPD... One of our demands is that the city secures a place for us to house the collection of the library..."

RebuildOWS stands AGAINST this action. We, the aggrieved and oppressed have no need to ask the oppressors for deliverance.

The idea that Bloomberg and his billionaire buddies, after illegally clearing out the camp in the first place, would keep their promises after a successful lawsuit is not rational. This idea also presupposes that this lawsuit would not get buried in Kafkaesque bureaucracy and left unresolved for years, if not indefinitely.

The Library needs to come to grips with the fact that the judiciary exists ONLY to serve the interests of the ruling class.

On the day Liberty Park was cleared, Justice Lucy Billings issued a restraining order allowing the protestors to return to the camp with their belongings. Meanwhile, rings of steel and riot police illegally kept the protestors out of the park until they could find another judge to overturn Billings' ruling. It only took a few hours.

If the price of freedom is eternal vigilance then the People's Library should stop looking so drowsy.

It is time that the People's Library, from the jaws of peril, shows the world what the 99% can do.

Once again, #RebuildOWS puts a call out for volunteers to join our ranks. Let us build our numbers, raise our own money and build the REAL People's Library.

Develop. Organize. Support. Struggle against all oppressors and enemies of the people! Rebuild the People's Library!
