Wait wait. This is even more hilarious. For every dollar that Alabama pays to the Federal government it recieves back $1.96 of funding and benefits from the Federal government.

Most all these states are net takers from the Federal Govt. Jeesh look at those moochers in Mississippi and S. Carolina.

Arkansas 1.08, Colorado .78, Florida 1.39, Georgia 1.11, Indiana 1.13, Kentucky 1.57, Michigan 1.56, Mississippi 2.73, Missouri 1.09, Montana 1.77, New Jersey .77, New York 1.0, North Carolina 1.29, North Dakota 1.07, Oregon 1.40, South Carolina 2.13 and Tennessee 1.21.

I don't know the math on it, but I think it's fair to say letting these guys secede would be a good start in reducing the debt.

Texas has over 80K signers. That's about 5% of the registered voters. I would think a lot of OWS would be happy with some States seceding.. I see so many posts about bringing down the federal government and changing how thing work I thought more OWS folks would be interested in this. These petitions are driven by folks disappointed in the federal government. Maybe OWS should support this effort.

I think 80k is 1% of the 8million who voted in Texas. So therefor it is probably less than 1/2 a percent of registered voters. And therefore some insignificant fraction of the 26 million population.

I just signed the white house petition to strip the secessionists of their citizenship and deport/exile them. Whatever political persuasion.

But yeah I think we would be better off without the right wing extremists.

Well good for you. Free speech and all that. Just remember that approximately half the population fit your definition of right wing extremist. So much for thinking you represent the 99%. The thing you should realize is the right and left hate each other with such venom no reasonable discussion is possible. I’ll say it again, both the left and right would rather see the nation in flames or split apart before they will talk to each other. To continue to spew hate from you or anyone else just continues the hate.

As for the petitions, I didn’t sign them; and I’m a Texan. There is no chance this will be taken seriously. It’s just a way for people to let the feds know they don’t like how things are going. Harmless fun. Wait, maybe the start of a movement.

i would estimate that only 20% of repub voters are right wing extremists & that translates to 12 million people which that is no where near half the 315 million population of the US

And I recall (to my dismay) that dems always compromise with repub/conservatives.

So I submit it is only the uncompromising right wing extremists who would "rather see the nation in flames" before they talk to each other (case in point: the tea party credit downgrade after they held the full faith & credit of the US hostage during the debt ceiling debate)

Yea, I remember when the House held the nation hostage. I was PO’ed about it. Not the right way to get it done. And, for whatever it’s worth, I think Grover Norquist is dangerous to the nation; and the Tea Party is on its last legs. But I also believe OWS is on their last legs, more so than the Tea Party. OWS is just a dangerous to the country as the right wing extremists. Just my two cents.

I disagree with your figures who the republican voters are. I maintain most are seriously conservative; to the point of hating any liberal. Just like the liberals hate ALL conservatives. Maybe you’re the exception. As I said I didn’t sign the petitions, but I agree with Texas Gov. Rick Perry. He’s not for Texas seceding, but understands why people don’t like the federal government.

I believe OWS is just gettin started, 1 year old. The tea party I do not think is dead. I think the next couple of months will be telling as the repub party fights over who is responsible for the loss.

We'll see how they do.

"liberals hate ALL conservatives"? Nah if you understood liberals you would know they are tolerant accepting people. Hate is not a big part of their makup. They ARE vehemently against conservative policy, and a few extremist conservative leaders (not all) engender great animosity. but just a few.

The election IS over! But if there are posts about secession, I can state that the secessionists are right wing extremists. Right?

And I have & will always contend that all our problems are rooted in conservative (right wing extremist) policy.

Acknowledging the root of our problems is required if we are to successfully resolve them. Not election related at all.

I encourage all people to get in the streets, protest all politicians forthe progressive change we need to resolve the catastrophe that conservative (right wing extremist) policy has created.

You are absolutely right. We should close the southern border, evict current illegal’s and fine any employer hiring illegal’s. Actually most of that is already the law. As for Muslims, as long as they don't try to impose Sharia law or support terrorism I’m OK with a LEGAL immigrant. However, we should limit legal immigration to an as needed oppucation. Not racist at all. Just thinking about the welfare of the US.

I didn't go to the trouble of counting the signers, but at a quick glance looks like about 400K people have signed the petitions in forty States so far. Texas alone has about 75K signers.

But once we strip their citizenship can't we deport them to their ancestral home? I mean no one except the indigenous native indians can call America their ancestral home.

I think using the term 'deport' might annoy the secessionists in a special way since they are also the people most against immigration.
