“The debates must include every candidate who is on enough ballots to win the White House and who has demonstrated a minimal level of support -- meaning either 1% of the vote in a credible national poll, or qualification for federal matching funds, or both,” reads the statement. “In 2012, the Green and Libertarian party candidates both meet all of these criteria and are both contenders for the presidency…These debates belong to the people, not the politicians or Wall Street.”

In addition there have been protests all over the country about this issue including in Boston, home of the Romney headquarters, and in Denver and Kentucky – the sites of the two recent presidential and vice presidential debates.

Jill Stein will be participating in at least four debates coming up, during which the American people will be able to learn the real range of options available to them this election. Below are the list of debates in which Jill Stein will be participating:

Thanks Builder! Can't wait to see some real debates!

Here's Jill Stein talking about the issues that the corrupted duopoly were told not to mention.

No worries. Couldn't post the details because of the hyperlinks in the text.

Have to go to the site to check the details. Right down the bottom.

Got 'em! Marked on the calendar. I would have liked to have seen all the alternative candidates in each of the debates...but I'm sure they're doing what they can.

Unrelated, but have to say...Loved your Iceland work!

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

We have to keep it current. The MSM wants the whole thing forgotten.

First step to a public referendum is to get the message out there.

[-] 0 points by Renneye (3874) 11 years ago

Yes...and its amazing just how much affect an individual can have. The cumulative effect of every one of us telling our own circle of family and friends is not to be underestimated. I'm going to tell my whole fam damily. I know...that was lame, but I couldn't resist.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

LOL. I like it.

But you're right. If there's to be support for an online public referendum, get onto an org like avaaz.com to set it up for you, and email everyone you know, and appeal to their sense of fairness to pass it on to everyone they know.

Then contact every union through email, and hit every notice board and post you can stick a poster to.

People power cannot be ignored, if organised well enough.

To find a candidate with some balls these days I guess you need to find a woman.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

You think the women-haters in the oligarch ranks would try to bribe a woman?

Not a chance. They own Hillary because of her past shifty dealings.

[-] 2 points by stevebol (1269) from Milwaukee, WI 11 years ago

How can anyone get into the debate if they need 15% in national polls? That will never happen with all the money in politics these days. What a joke.

[-] 0 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Where does the 15% come into it.

The greens will be on 85% of presidential ballots.

That qualifies anyone for a debate platform.

The two puppets need a written speech and a "mediator" so they don't trip over their own lies too often.

That is not a "debate" in any way, shape, or form. It's a farce.

I know, I just checked to see to see if she would be on my state's ballot. She will be.

Thats leaves one option: start crashing them aka Occupy the debates.

We'll see how many in Tampa want to make the trip to Boca. Im sure this is going to motivate a lot of people.

[-] 2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I am SO glad you posted this. Instead of going to bed feeling like shit by watching those two pathetic lap dogs, a little hope has been restored.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

That fuckin pumps me up!! Hell ya Jill!

Fuck these two parties. (#)OCCUPYEVERYTHING

Jill Stein is such a fucking bad ass!!!!

She has more balls than Romney and Obama combined.

Great post. I was unaware of this happening.

It's crazy how you have -127 karma points. The party shills on this site have worked hard to discourage you.

How are these debates funded ?
Who "owns" the debate organization ?

Interesting history, too bad the League of Women Voter left. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commission_on_Presidential_Debates

Debates are run by the 2 parties. That situation must change. 3rd party access should be granted, and more real interaction between the candidates to address the "dual Press conference" feel of it.

CPD: Our Mission

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) was established in 1987 to ensure that debates, as a permanent part of every general election, provide the best possible information to viewers and listeners. Its primary purpose is to sponsor and produce debates for the United States presidential and vice presidential candidates and to undertake research and educational activities relating to the debates. The organization, which is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) corporation, sponsored all the presidential debates in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008.

but where does CPD get money from ?
If the D & R are the funders, CPD should disclose that fact - that they are only there to "support" the parties who fund it.

FROM WIKI>

Commission on Presidential Debates Predecessor League of Women Voters (sponsor) Formation 1987 Type Non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation Purpose/focus Organize the United States presidential election debates Co-Chair Frank Fahrenkopf Co-Chair Michael D. McCurry Key people Board of directors: Howard Graham Buffett, J.C. Danforth, J. Griffen, A. Hernandez, C. Kennedy, N.N. Minow, R.D. Parsons, D. Ridings, A.K. Simpson
Parent organization Democratic Party, Republican Party

So if D & R OWN CPD, it would seem that they have the right to run it independently but America must be informed of the truth.

Should a Ford dealer be obligated to keep a GM car in his showroom?

We own the airwaves - "we the people" should have a debate platform for all candidates

One small part of my ideal campaign finance reform would be that ONLY candidates can spend their own or donated money on an election ( no corp money no union money no party money )

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Corp 1% plutocrats fund them.

That must change also.

Major sponsors of the debates:

Scroll down to the bottom for them.

Good 30 minute overview of how the debates are set up, and the BS behind them:

Fuckin A!! Thats whats up!!!

These two sell outs in there, and real activists are getting arrested outside.

Fuck these two parties. And if Jill wants to come to Boca to do it again, Im with her.

[-] -1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

No talk of drones, war, or civil rights. Another sham of a debate.

[-] 0 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

I saw this awesome picture of Vince McMahon, fake pro-wrestler guy, with this caption

"The presidential debates... more scripted than anything I could ever dream of"

[-] -1 points by john23 (-272) 11 years ago

Exactly....how about a question or two about NDAA? The right of a president to assassinate and indefinitely detain its citizens? Illegal waging of wars without congressional approval?

BS softball questions that you hear every 4 years....exact same crap.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Those would be some very interesting questions. And make for some very interesting pundit talk the next day, unlike this idiotic crap today about his definition of terrorism in Libya.

[-] -3 points by WeThePeop (-259) 11 years ago

she is a no good libtard

[-] -1 points by john23 (-272) 11 years ago

It's not about whether or not you like her policies or not...it's not about her....it's about the right in this country to have debates that feature someone besides the monopoly that the repubs and dems have put on the system to exclude competing ideas.
