Recently a note was handed to the president to address the violence against protesters. This was a great move and great statement by the Occupy Movement.

We must, however, take this to the next level and support a petition to the president to reinforce this individual's letter. We must show that the Occupy Movement supports his actions. We can do this by signing a petition demanding this address and prosecution of all those who have violated our first amendment rights.

In order to stop violence towards peaceful protesters, we must stand strong with peace and dignity to preserve our rights as civil human beings. We must also allow others, whether we agree or disagree, to have the same rights as our own and without harm. This is vital to maintaining our own freedom. The reason this petition to stop violence towards peaceful protesters was created is because there is too much police brutality in too many cities across the nation. Don't believe me? Please take a minute to reference the Facebook page for this petition. There, you will see many clips and articles demonstrating the level of violence towards peaceful protesters. This has to stop.

Currently, we see multiple incidents spread across the news and Youtube where protesters appear to be beaten with rubber bullets, batons, pepper sprayed etc. This has to stop. If people aren't violent during a protest, why should they have to face violence from the one group of people we need to be able to trust to keep us safe (police)?

It is important for any person, group, government offical, or any authority, including our own US president to send a message stop violence when it is totally unnecessary. If we are going to stand against violence, as a nation, to other countries, why are we facing the same type of violence in the USA? We must stand together, in unity, to fight violence, bullying, and ignorance. It is these things that we must replace with peace, truth, and open mindedness. Understand that everyone has different views and just because they are different, doesn't justify abuse or violence in any manner.

We can't stop it, unless we take a stand together in solidarity to make a statement. Let our voices continue to be heard without disruption! We are the people of the United States. We have first amendment rights and must protect our freedom of speech. Let's make it known we will not stand down and we know our rights. Let's stop violence against our freedoms now! Please sign the petition!

Let us make this message heard and fight the violence! Please sign this petition to the president to stop violence towards peaceful protesters.

Sign, share, then encourage others to do the same.

We need a common demand, something simple that United We Stand for. We should call for a constitutional convention to change the way we choose our leaders and that makes it ILLEGAL TO GIVE MONEY TO POLITICIANS PERIOD. Take the money out of the system and we take away the weapon the rich have used to hijack our system and cause this mess. This is the way for the 99% to take back our government. The elected officials will never do it so we must. It's a simple message that is easy to understand and hard to be against. I think the way to do it is by calling for a constitutional convention and that is the message we should all be vocalizing. TAKE THE MONEY OUT OF POLITICS make all forms of campaign contributions and political donations illegal. A simple and specific message the media has to cover if everyone is demanding it. Right now the message is too idealistic and unspecific. That is going to kill the movement. No other single change could solve so many of our problems. Anything short of this wont work. Imagine how things would be if this were accomplished. I also think we need to get rid of the electoral college and implement term limits for everyone in congress. Do you really think this president would ever have the balls to do anything meaningful to protect the protesters from police brutality? He could call out the national guard, as Eisenhower did to protect the right to attend an All white h.s. , as he did for the 'little rock 9'. Surely Obama knows that bit of u.s. History?

STraight out of Rules for Radicals. Incite violence against yourself, and then scream bloody murder when it happens. This is nothing more than a marxist ploy. Please show me instances of violence by police where they were punishing someone for freedom of speech. There are not any. Civil disobedience (breaking the law) is not covered by the 1st Amendment. And that is what people are being arrested for. Real simple. Stay away from the cops. If they tell you to move you move. Don't spit on them, Dont throw things. dont curse at them, they are doing their job. Obama took that note and wiped his ass with it, so keep dreaming that he is going to say anything about it. The President does not support people breaking the law. You have the freedom of speech to say what you want. That's it.
