Forum Post: Occupy Oakland police shoots a guy for recording video. I am totally speechless. How on Earth is this OK in America?

This is pretty incredible footage.

A guy is filming a police line in Oakland. It's fairly boring at first, there is no action going on. At about the 30 second mark, a cop raises a gun and shoots the guy with a rubber bullet. This is absolutely unwarranted. Guns are generally used when there is a direct and immediate threat that cannot otherwise be prevented, as a last resort. How on earth a man who is simply filming even represents a threat is incredulous.

Every time a cop does something stupid like that and gets media coverage, it triggers 100's more people on the street in support of OWS.

"While filming a police line at Occupy Oakland after midnight on Nov. 3 following the Nov. 2 general strike, an officer opens fire and shoots me with a rubber bullet. I was standing well back. There was no violence or confrontations of any kind underway. At 0:31 seconds you can see a tall officer in the front raise his weapon and then fire. This is the full clip of the incident."

get use to it. this is how the powers that be will behave and back it up with propaganda.. and the people will side with them .. thats the way dissent is handled in a free country

Here's another video where a pacific protester gets shot. It's near 5:30.
