This content is user submitted and not an official statement

He was arrested or detained Friday evening, August 17, 2012 by the local police, FBI and secret service. It will be interesting to see how this story develops, especially in relation to freedom of speech and the detention provision in the NDAA.

Here's the latest update about Brandon:

A Chesterfield County man and Marine veteran is in a local hospital after being picked up by federal and local law enforcement officials concerned about threatening Internet postings.

Brandon J. Raub, 26, was in Hopewell’s John Randolph Medical Center on Saturday.

“I’m currently in John Randolph in the psychiatric ward being held against my will,” Raub said in a telephone interview.

Reports of his detention Thursday have gone viral on the Internet.

Raub said Secret Service, FBI and Chesterfield police officers came to his home Thursday. “They were concerned about me calling for the arrest of government officials,” he said.

He was taken to the Chesterfield police station and then to the hospital, he said.

“I talked to a Secret Service gentleman for 20, 30 minutes,” Raub said. “I was very cooperative and answered everything honestly.

“I really love America, and I think that idea that you can be detained and sent somewhere without due process and a lawyer … is crazy.”

Raub said he has been raising questions about 9/11 and signed a petition to reopen investigation of the terrorist attacks.

On Wednesday, Raub posted on his Facebook page, “The Revolution is here. And I will lead it.”

On Aug. 11, he posted: “I know many of you think I’m going crazy, and are wondering just why I have been posting the things I have been posting. I don’t have the energy to explain. Just know that a new beginning is coming.”

An Aug. 5 post said, “If you are unaware of the great amount of evil perpetrated by the American Government I suggest you take … your head out of the sand. The day of reckoning is almost at hand.”

And on Aug. 4, he posted, “I am standing against a great evil. I will do it all by myself if I have to.”

“Our office had received a complaint about threatening posts,” said Dee Rybiski, spokeswoman for the Richmond FBI office. “As we would do in any circumstance such as this, our office along with Chesterfield Police (Department) officers went to interview Mr. Raub.

“The FBI did not arrest him,” Rybiski said. “We are not commenting any further.”

Chesterfield police Lt. Rich McCullough said Saturday, “We were assisting the FBI in a matter. All we did was transport” him to John Randolph for medical evaluation.

According to Secret Service spokesman Max Milien in Washington, “That subject was not arrested by us on any charges.”

Raub said he served in the Marine Corps from 2005 to 2011 and was a combat engineer sergeant with service in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has a home silver numismatic-coin business.

Raub said he does not own a gun.

Who knows. Looks like most everyone was down voted. Doesn't matter. We're not here to amass points, but to make them.

thanks for the updates. I've been following what I can about the story since yesterday.

Not the easiest to find info on. Keep the knowledge coming!

Sure, probably nothing new until Monday or Tuesday.

What makes you think he's been programmed?

He sounds like a mix of conspiracy theorist, patriot, and non violent activist. Haven't even a few of our words been interpreted as violent by a few when our deeper intentions are not?

According to some of my family members, just not voting republican would be enough reason to have one evaluated by mental health professionals.

What did he actually say?

Look at the body of the post. The jpg links are screen captures of his facebook pages that were removed.

I didn't check, I had heard about this story a day ago and when I checked the comments on the site the story was on, a bunch of commenters were asking the same thing, what did he say, what did he say.

So I didn't check this time thinking it was the same stuff I saw yesterday. I'll have to check it out then, thanks.

Better watch what anyone posts here or, for that matter, anywhere. Big Brother is watching.

[-] 2 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

Do you think they haven't been watching the whole time?

[-] 2 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 12 years ago

Oh, I'm sure they have, but to be arrested for terrorism, when the crime is spreading "terroristic" facebook posts. Of course they don't really need much, not even a warrant.

The frightening part of Brandon's arrest for "terrorism" is that most of us, people who have watched American freedom languishing on its sick bed, must now accept that it is fully intubated and on life support.

omg this is where we should all delete facebook!

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

But isn't that the same as silencing your own freedom of speech? If the Egyptians did what you propose, wouldn't Mubarak still be in power? If they taped you protesting in public, would you stop protesting too?

I think our power lies in open discussion. If we self censor our right to freely speak, they have already won. Once we let fear rule our minds, tyrants will rule our bodies.

[-] 1 points by gestopomillyy (1695) 12 years ago

in egypt.. it was a non change.. military still in power.. then they voted in the islam brotherhood!. they gained nothing! it is just a point.. if he had stood on a platform in a park and said this.. nothing would happen to him.. but the citizens of this country have been duped into allowing anything broadcast over the internet to be less than free speech. the only way to protest that is to eliminate facebook, twitter , etc.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

With facebook, the Egyptians gained the vote. Who they chose for President was not a result of using facebook.

The best way to protest this is to use facebook even more. Self censorship is the cowards response. Freedom is won with courage!

the muslim brotherhood in egyptia is now crucifying non muslims ( anti morsi ) in front of the presidential palace. copts have been warned and told to leave egypt.

[-] 2 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

Can you back up your statement?

[-] 0 points by brudlo (-454) 12 years ago

do a search. use this phrase . the muslim brotherhood is crucifying non muslims in egypt.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

The evidence is poor. I wouldn't believe it without more proof. If this were true, it would be headline news in all western media.

[-] -1 points by brudlo (-454) 12 years ago

muslims have taken over neighborhoods in france, torching cars and busines's. have you read that in the news? NO. most recent was in Amiens , France. do search on that. the media is still doing all they can to portray islam as a religion of peace by not printing or doing any broadcasting that doesnt follow that agenda.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

And George Bush, a christian, bombed Iraq and Afghanistan. Are all christians bombers then? Is christianity then a religion of war?

[-] 0 points by brudlo (-454) 12 years ago

do you have a problem with reading comprehension? this has been going on in france for some time. this is the so called citizens taking over neighborhoods and terrorizing the citizenry. you are apologizing for urban and suburban muslim terrorists.

[-] 1 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

I had neighbors from Palestine who were muslim. One of the nicest families I've met.

There are bastards among all groups, christians and jews are not exempt. What percent of the muslims in France are violent? Less than 1%?

Here's an interesting graph. You might be more concerned with right wing radicals than muslims.

fun fact

imprisoning dissenters is one of the reasons Obama joined in bombing Gaddafi

that and it was on the list of countries to take out from the Bush era Neocon agenda.

[-] 2 points by jrhirsch (4714) from Sun City, CA 12 years ago

"imprisoning dissenters is one of the reasons Obama joined in bombing Gaddafi"

? He doesn't have enough dissenters in Iraq and Afghanistan to choose from?

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

You could just go ahead and list all 5 countries he's bombed in the past 12 months
