Your first line got my attention.

The foulness of the second turned me off and you lost all credibility.

Today's Dirty Word: Patience I once read a book, I think it was called "Forever" by Judy Blume, and it scarred me for life because it was about a girl losing her virginity. However, there is one sequence I remember from this book that for some reason I never forgot: the younger sister was talking about dirty words or bad words or curse words, and she told whomever she was speaking to that the "f" word shouldn't be a bad word. After all, it was just another word for sex--but that words like hate and war, THOSE should be considered bad words.

yeh sorry to disappoint you but i cant help who i am. maybe you should try to be more understanding of others.

[-] 2 points by CountryGirl (73) 12 years ago

I do respect you as a fellow human. And I fully respect your right to use those words. But, you could have said the same thing without the foul words and more people would listen.

I totally, completely, absolutely agree with the idea of not caring about divisions of left/right, rep/dem, this party or that. I fully believe it is a bout people caring about issues and dealing with them. Period.

But I wouldn't choose to stand near you (or anyone else who swears) at a rally because those kind of words cause the rest of your argument to go out the window.

Don't lose the power of your message in the dirt. Peace.

@CountryGirl... People that feel the need to use profanity as a way to make their point are often juvenile in demeanor, regardless of their physical age. However there are times when profanity is the only way to get the point across, sad but true. I agree that the original posting was not one of them. But we can overlook the indiscretion when regarding the context and intent of the message.

Regarding those that respond with blatant profanity coupled with discriminatory and derogatory comment to a reasonable request to refrain from using profanity are simply ignorant. You are absolutely correct in the sentiment that unqualified profanity can and does lessen the strength and integrity of a comment as well as the commentator.

@Saikron... You really need to get your head out of your ass... you know nothing of the person you claim to be able to judge. You are portraying exactly the mentality the 1% wants us to have... it's the oldest play in the book, you know... divide and conquer. Oh yea, remember these words... Judge not arbitrarily or you too will be arbitrarily judged.

====================================================

Are there any OWS marshals on here?

Discrimination is a form of psychological violence that should not be tolerated as keeping with the movements rule of non violence. And Saikron's derogatory comment regarding CountryGirl's comments is just that, discriminatory.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

the marshals dont normally pay attention to my topics because they know i can handle my own. i mod my own threads; if anyone gets out of line he is brought gently back round.

kevin, everything was ok until you came along. you are out of line. dont you dare come up on this bitch complaining how one bitch treats another bitch, all actin a bitch about things. you're better than that. i have faith i will not need to revisit this

thank you

buik

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

that was very well-said : )

[-] 0 points by Saikron (24) from Charleston, SC 12 years ago

Fuck that shit. I judge arguments and women by merits other than how pretty they are.

And OWS is on the 99%'s side.

[-] 2 points by CountryGirl (73) 12 years ago

Judging from your first sentence: Your stance is that you think people should have sex with excrement? Sounds silly huh?

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

no to me. to me it sounds hot

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

i gave you a point if it makes you feel any better

[-] 1 points by naftaexpert (5) 12 years ago

It has come to the point where foulness must be used. whenever cmon man please, think about it, use you common sense doesn't work, the word fucktard must be used.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

yes i never was one for common sense. i am surprised i have lived this long!

[-] 1 points by number2 (914) 12 years ago

OWS is not apolitical. that's the wrong word. OWS is trying to be nonpartisan, which is quite different than apolitical.

Remember to vote!( no incumbents)

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

oh. apolitcal would be way better.

too bad

[-] 1 points by number2 (914) 12 years ago

i don't think so. look at how many incumbents the tea party got rid of. If OWS got rid of that many in 2012 then the establishment would start thinking twice and the whole conversation would dramatically change.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

we must not make demands
we must make our own goals - and work for them ourselves
There are a huge number of great, well thought out, COMPLICATED ideas that will require a huge amount of "selling" and explanation" and will garner GREAT OPPOSITION.
We need to be realistic & pick an issue that is simple - that is popular -
that 83% of Americans already agree on -
that 56% of TP already agree on -
that will bring together the people in OWS with the people outside of OWS.
Everybody wins!

Our only goal should be to pass a constitutional amendment to counter Supreme Court decisions Citizens United (2010) & Buckley v. Valeo (1976), that enable unlimited amounts of anonymous money to flood into our political system.
“Corporations and organizations are not a persons & have no personhood rights”
and
“money is not free speech”.

We don’t have to explain or persuade people to accept our position – we have to persuade them to ACT based on their own position. Pursuing this goal will prove to the world that we, at OWS, are a serious realistic Movement, with serious realistic goals. Achieving this goal will make virtually every other goal – jobs, taxes, infrastructure, Medicare – much easier to achieve –
by disarming our greatest enemy – GREED.

THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE AMENDING PROCESS The Prohibition movement started as a disjointed effort by conservative teetotalers who thought the consumption of alcohol was immoral. They ransacked saloons and garnered press coverage here and there for a few years. Then they began to gain support from the liberals because many considered alcohol partially responsible for spousal and child abuse, among other social ills. This odd alliance, after many years of failing to influence change consistently across jurisdictions, decided to concentrate on one issue nationally—a constitutional amendment. They pressured all politicians on every level to sign a pledge to support the amendment. Any who did not, they defeated easily at the ballot box since they controlled a huge number of liberal, and conservative and independent swing votes in every election. By being a single-issue constituency attacking from all sides of the political spectrum, they very quickly amassed enough votes (2/3) to pass the amendment in Congress. And, within just 17 months, they were successful in getting ¾ of the state legislatures to ratify the constitutional amendment into law. (Others were ratified even faster: Eight —took less than a year. The 26th, granting 18-year-olds the right to vote, took just three months and eight days.)

If they could tie the left and right into a success -
If Ohio won. If Arizona won. If Maine won. If Mississippi won - WHY CAN'T WE??????????

I feel that we should stay with this simple text to overturn CU:
”corporations are not people” and “money is not free speech”
for four simple reasons and one – not so simple:
1
83% of Americans have already opposed CU in the ABC/Washington post poll and the above
IS THEIR POSITION ALREADY.
2
We don’t have to work to convince people on the validity of our position.
3
Simple is almost always better.
4
This simple Amendment is REQUIRED to overturn CU.
And all other electoral reform can be passed through the normal legislative process.

5
OWS and these pages are chock full of ( mostly ) excellent ideas to improve our country.
All of them have strong advocates – and some have strong opposition.
None of them has been “pre-approved” by 83% of Americans !
Pursuing this goal – without additional specifics is exactly what Americans want.
What do we want? Look at that almost endless list of demands – goals - aims.
Tax the rich. End the Fed. Jobs for all, Medicare for all. So easy to state! Can you imagine how hard it would be to formulate a “sales pitch” for any of these to convince your Republican friends to vote for any of them?
83% of Americans have ALREADY “voted” against CU. And 76% of the Rs did too.
All we have to do ask Americans is to pressure their representatives – by letters - emails – petitions.

Wanna take your family on vacation?
Convince the 7 year old and the 10 year old to go to Mt Rushmore.
Then try to convince them to go to Disneyland.
Prioritizing this goal will introduce us to the world – not as a bunch of hippie radical anarchist socialist commie rabblerousers – but as a responsible, mature movement that is fighting for what America wants.

I feel that using the tactics of the NRA, the AARP an the TP – who all represent a minority – who have successfully used their voting power to achieve their minority goals - plus the Prohibition Amendment tactics – bringing all sides together - is a straight path for us to success that cannot fail to enable us to create and complete one MAJORITY task.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 12 years ago

The Left/Right thing is pure obfuscation these days.

One more diversionary tactic to help divide and conquer the masses.

The only questions we need to ask ourselves are............(drum roll)........

Are you are survivor? Can you think for yourself?

Would you like fries with that? (sorry, that's just conditioning. LOL)

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

you know man i havent gotten any kind of fast food for a coons age. and i dont mean "coon" in a racial way, i was just using a certain way of speaking.

[-] 1 points by onemoe (78) 12 years ago

the only problem with an apolitical movement is, How do know if it's working and why would you waste all the time and effort if no useful message comes from it. There are many wrongs that need to be righted but just jumping up and down shouting down with capitalism or down with government is not enough. If the movement caused the fall of the US government what do suppose would happen. I can tell what I think would happen Marshal Law, possible shooting and mistreatment of protestors (since there would be no central control to keep the forces at bay) and total global meltdown. I want a better system but if we are not careful what we will get could be worse than what we have. How would you like to be in Syria right now?

[-] 2 points by CountryGirl (73) 12 years ago

And even if there was a "strong, definitive message" marshal law would still happen if the government didn't like that message.

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

which would result in a much worse position for the establishment than not instituting marshal law ever could. Think about it, the elite might decide it's a good idea and implement it, but the boots on the ground aren't of the elite. It's one thing to grudgingly fight for your country regardless of overall cause, but to fight against the people who are trying to fix it? Our military now has a long history with dying for things it's soldiers don't believe, ask them to kill the people they are supposed to protect to defend a ruling class that abandons them, watch how many actually show up, how many units simply refuse.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

you dont have to use a bunch of words to speak the truth. the only time you need a lot of words to express a simple idea is when you are lying.

please dont lie to each other in my dam thread. go somewhere else and do it. its bullshit and you know it. you're out the fuck of line.

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

I apologize if you think I've been misleading. To the best of my knowledge I have expressed compound thoughts, with the language I feel comfortable with, and based on the information I have at hand. Could you please direct me towards what point or concept that I might have formed in error.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

what the fuck? are you a community college english teacher or something?

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

No, I am not, my poor syntax and lack oscar wilde references should make that perfectly clear. What I am is someone who believes opinion is often shaped by how attractive a thing is. Words have specific meanings, as such some words tickle the mind and satisfy the same parts of the brain that process attractive stimulus. So while a string of what appears to be loosely connected words from a children's primary reader and expletives might carry the same message in terms of information as a more complex one, the more complex one is the one people will choose. Just as most people listen intently to the attractive blond than the traditionally ugly brunette, regardless of validity.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

oh geez

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

Have we exhausted this particular path of thought regarding me wording? If so I really would appreciate it if you would point out where you feel logical fallacies or misstatements of fact lie in my arguments. I would be more than happy to critique your arguments in return if you like.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

yeh man you win. hell, i dont fuckin care. you're some kind of glorious conquistador of the written word or some shit. whatever you want me to think thats what i think now.

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

That is not my intent, I'm not trying to steamroll you, I honestly want you to tell me what prompted you to say 'please dont lie to each other in my dam thread. go somewhere else and do it. its bullshit and you know it. you're out the fuck of line.' No one can win or lose, its not a game, its an exchange of ideas.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

well you've really been showing me whos boss, alright.

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

We don't even need a better system, I believe, we've got a system that was designed by some smart guys. We know it works, We just let some other smart guys get away with tinkering and manipulating that system for their own ends. That is a lot easier to address than a completely new and alien system that most would find unbearable to live under. Plus people across the board are already thinking about it. From the OWS all the way to the Tea Partiers.

[-] 1 points by CountryGirl (73) 12 years ago

You're right the Republic (which this, not a democracy as people always say) does work well. But the party lines don't. We should be sending people who will do as there constituents tell them to do not what they think, not what money thinks, but the actual people.

Also, the original system provided the federal government with the power to work for the states in unity, (i.e. postal system, interstate roads, money, and common defense) after that the power is supposed to reside in the states. So the feds should not be telling us how to run our schools, or health care or social programs etc.

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

exactly, when the states refused to take a militant stand against the federal government leveraging interstate money to influence laws they were agreeing to the death of the union and the creation of a super-state.

[-] 1 points by CountryGirl (73) 12 years ago

We aren't apolitical, we are saying no party lines, my side vs. your side.

Most people are focusing on the people at the occupations holding signs or marching. What people are missing is that many of these places are holding general assemblies. Places where people identify problems, discuss ideas, look for ways to make change. They listen to other humans ideas, discuss them and look for workable plans.Everyone participates, everyone votes. It is a process.

But it is a framework for change. We hope for a future where there won't be parties, divisions, lines, just people working to to do what they ALL feel is right for themselves.

[-] 1 points by rayl (1007) 12 years ago

some day in the future our current political environment will be looked upon with incomprehension. it will be regarded as a time when psychopathic megalomaniacs were allowed to rule. when the people were divided against each other by their leaders, in the guise of political parties, for the profit of the few.

[-] 2 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

definitely. the easy way to say it is "these are the dark ages"

thanks. i gotta go remodel my sister's bathroom and yours was the perfect post for me to read last. have a great one.

[-] 1 points by rayl (1007) 12 years ago

your welcome. have fun in the bathroom!

[-] 1 points by thestruin (83) 12 years ago

It's amazing that a system that should work almost smoothly and efficiently we managed to completely break. You decide that you care about a handful of topics that impact you, some more that you believe in, then you pick one of two lists that contains some of what you want. Oh, anytime you have a differing thought from your party's list your comrades annihilate you socially as a fascist or a socialist, anytime you agree the same happens from the other side. There is a lot of talk about OWS being socialist wealth redistributers, or about how it will never gain mainstream support because republicans spend their free time eating equality and shitting hardship on everyone else. But both parties by and large are like minded when it comes to the federal governments corruption and private organization's/individuals having to much control.

[-] 1 points by rayl (1007) 12 years ago

sadly, you're right

Why do you assume refusing to platform goals is apolitical. It could be considered a political strategy.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

that makes sense, but i theres somethin i dont quite like about it...

on those grounds you are out of line. please be considerate of the feelings of others in the future.

its not your right to post in my thread; i let you do it. stay the fuck in line

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

How was I inconsiderate? I simply asked a rhetorical question. You do not own this forum, nor the thread you started. All is public.

If anything, I should say you are quite inconsiderate. Not because you cast insults or use a language with a harsh tone, that is all fine and dandy. But because you do not take the care to write properly, and you do not take the time to propose interesting and creative insults.

Boredom is a poison that kills with a sting unlike any other. If you wish to insult me, I would appreciate you taking the proper care to craft an insult of value, one worthy of being remembered. Do not be afraid to break the mold. Be different, unlike the panoply of other trolls that lurk these dusty dungeons.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

why dont you go dig up michael jackson and suck whats left of his dick?

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

Your writing skills still lack finesse, but a gleam of hope shines upon the insult stage. Dick suckage is an all too beaten track, but the thought of a dug up Michael Jackson shows some promise. Do you often read? I find this helps in expanding the brain and in making it more subtle and flexible when brash trolling is of need. A true troll trolls at the library. Therein, he learns the rudiments of vocabulary, fallacies, metaphors, and pleonasms; all venoms just waiting to be shot towards deeming opponents.

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

oh i forgot to mention youre out of line, bitch

[-] 1 points by buik (380) from Towson, MD 12 years ago

i am not the best troll but most of my friends are pretty good. i cant get them in here tho they like reddit.

reddit is like playin from the pro tee. posting here is like taking blood from a baby.
