Forum Post: Is Occupy occupying anything now?

Really, if the movement isn't occupying anything anymore, shouldn't we change our name? How about "WeUsedToOccupyWallStreet", "WeUsedToOccupyDC", "WeUsedToOccupyBoston", etc....

Caveat : A Troll Post. Utilising the word "we", whilst knowing that he/she/it actually detests anything and everything to do with OWS !!

Re.The Faux-Question ; "Is Occupy occupying anything now?" ; The Answer is - Yes. OWS very much occupies this particular Troll's (so called) mind ... et les autres peut-etres ?!

'F2012' is NOT a OWS supporter or sympathiser ; he/she/it is a Troll-bot ! Q.E.D ...

No. Now because it's getting cold out, they are running into bank owed houses. They are now(always have been really) occupying their asses with their heads.

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Spoken like someone whose own head has travelled so far up one's own (x) as to be in a Randian Parallel Reality !! lux ?

[-] 0 points by necropaulis (491) 12 years ago

No, if you think what some of these groups are doing is right, then you have your head up your own ass. I live reality, these disillusioned compatriots of yours do not

[-] 0 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

"Reality" is what you make it ! Good Luck with your "self-extraction" process !! ;-)

[-] 0 points by necropaulis (491) 12 years ago

And to yours.

P@ul : You're a poor apology for a Wannabe Necromancer ! Some friendly advice and pointers = This is your Arse, (...x...) and this is your Elbow, |_ & your 'ass' is a donkey ! With best wishes for 'Muletide' ...

ab absurdum, veritas ?

[-] 1 points by necropaulis (491) 12 years ago

Okay. apparently you are so super smart as you don't know that I am not claiming to be a necromancer.... that is stupid. If you look up the Necropolis, you may learn its just a play on words. The term is get you head out of your ass. Such a thing surely someone as smart as you must be capable of. I understand the relation of my ass and elbow. I don't do dead language, so here's a live one: Sie am Leben auszusaugen. And it's not "poor apology", it's "poor excuse", dummy

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

'necro paul is' a cemetery citer, but Not a Necromancer ! No need to fall out IF we both accept that only 'Goldman Sux' ... Wirklich Saugen !! Tchuss ;-)

[-] 0 points by necropaulis (491) 12 years ago

Did you mean cemetery city?? I can't say Goldman sucks. I never had enough to store there, if they employ over 30,000 people worldwide, and drop BILLIONS on them(paychecks, benefits, 401s, etc) where's the suck in that?? They pay taxes, which, btw GE and water bottling(for an example) companies do not. There is no need to fall out at all. If we fall out internally, we are done as a country. I say, the people at fault are the one defrauding the banks(the people thinking a 30k a year job will pay the bill for a 200k house), the corrupt politicians(even though they're greed does on occasion get positive things done), and the ones who think they are entitled to everything even though they do nothing(this goes across the board. Rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight and what ever else you want to throw in there). I may not be about "occupying" whatever, but I believe what most are doing is or the greater good, but there is a better way of doing it, which is why I pointed out the name calling. That doesn't get people to listen. Representing your idea like you did in this last post is the way. A lot of the "occupyers" don't understand that. So I thank you for putting down the "kid gloves" and coming through with research and knowledge. That is how this movement will succeed.

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

necrop@ulis : No. I meant "one who 'cites' a cemetery !

Though NOT agreeing at all with your being so 'reasonable' with "The Goldman Sachs", ( & Re. "The Goldman Sachs" and "Queasing" [316 - 3:50] : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTUY16CkS-k !!) ; nevertheless, thanx for your kind words and ...

pax et lux ;-)

Well it means "city of the dead". The reason I seem more lax with Goldman Sachs is because they do right by those they employ, and the countries that host them... not entirely what they should compared to the small business owner, but at least they put up a good front. GE and other companies don't pay a cent in taxes due to their lawyers mangling the law. These are the ones we need to go after. And, btw I have been enjoying the small Latin lessons. si illuminati sunt, et omnia turpis lucri

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

I do know what a 'necropolis' is 'paul' and ... Hell, NO ! I just like dead languages !! + re. The Effin (k)Illuminati : They couldn't "illuminate' the cupboard under my stairs, mate !!! F@K 'em ; Try the link ; Stay well, et ...

radix malorum est cupiditas ;-)

What I wrote translated to:if we were more enlightened, we'd all win. And man is the root of evil, not one group. And I bet you like dead tongue for the same reason I like talking to people in German. It makes you appear that much more smarter(most of the time we are) than them(and add some mystery). Go ahead and admit it. I will. It's fun fucking with idiots isn't it?? And yes, Fuck the Illuminati. ILF all day

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

@ n: Latin is not really dead for speakers of French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish (et al!) ! Germanic Anglo-Saxon types may be a tad confused more than occasionally .. and Hey ... I ain't 'Effin ; I'm only Sharing !!

Mais ... plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose !!!

[-] 0 points by necropaulis (491) 12 years ago

Indeed. Just like you said, the more things change, the more they stay the same. There are more languages than what you listed that use latin as a base. It's also the language of science. I'm not anglo, btw ;)

I would say that at the very least we are occupying your mind, and that is some minor evidence of progress

[-] 0 points by FreedomIn2012 (-36) from Hempstead, NY 12 years ago

You are correct. I have spent a lot of time thinking about this movement. This past week and this week I have spent much more time on the IPCC conference in Durban, SA. They are much more hilarious than Occupy right now...

[-] 1 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

no way. Who told you I had posted this and this?

Why are they so hilarious? Gallows humor?

What is your involvement with the IPCC?

edit:

So I have an idea. It comes from the fight with tobacco companies of 2006, which I found here after reading the forum post on Sign Bernie Sanders' petition in support of his first proposed constitutional amendment.

Below is an excerpt from that article:

Absent convincing evidence, it might be reckless to say that Philip Morris and the other tobacco corporations engaged in a willful, aggressive, wide-ranging conspiracy and racketeering enterprise so that the corporations could sell more products that kill people. But now that the evidence is in, we know that that is exactly what happened. We know this thanks to scientists, victims of the conspiracy, state attorneys general (both Democrats and Republicans), the United States Department of Justice (under both Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush), and Judge Gladys Kessler and a panel of U.S. Court of Appeals judges appointed by Presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and George H. W. Bush.

In 2006, the U.S. Department of Justice took the cigarette corporations to trial, alleging that they had engaged in a racketeering conspiracy. Eighty-four witnesses testified in the nine-month trial, and hundreds of internal corporate secrets were finally exposed. When the verdict came in, Judge Kessler concluded that “overwhelming evidence” proved that the cigarette corporations “conspired together” to fraudulently deny that cigarettes caused cancer, emphysema, and a long list of other fatal diseases; to manipulate levels of highly addictive nicotine to keep people smoking; to market addictive cigarettes to children so that the corporations would have “replacement smokers” for those who quit or died; and that they “concealed evidence, destroyed documents, and abused the attorney-client privilege to prevent the public from knowing about the dangers of smoking and to protect the industry” from justice.

So now it should be quite clear what I propose. Given that there is both an effort in the House and the Senate to produce a 28th Amendment to the Constitution, prohibiting corporate personhood as a matter of law, perhaps we can engage in a simultaneous attack against the fossil fuel industry for having engaged in conspiracy to deny the effects of burning fossil fuels.

  • I believe that these two efforts - suing the fossil fuel industry for propagandizing a matter of scientific debate for corporate gain, and the issue of a Constitutional Amendment banning corporate personhood - are complimentary. I believe that conducting both at once serves to enhance the effects of each far beyond what they might do separately.

We could call it - Occupy the Fossils

[-] 0 points by owsleader2011 (304) 12 years ago

The movement is now occupying the minds of every free citizen on earth.

They can can spray tear-gas, they can torture, but they cannot destroy an idea or a dream.

Think of OWS movement as a resonant frequency that is oscillating around the world.

Remember that Limbaugh&O'Riellly are now terrified and have shit their pants. This is why we see so many right-wing nut-cases on this forum they see their way of life as game-over, and they're now ready to save their position by All Means Necessary.

[-] 1 points by simplesimon (121) 12 years ago

The reason they shit their pants is because they know that when OWS is finished with their tantrum there will be more people available to do their laundry.

Here, wash my drawers buddy.

Well, the occupation's initial target was the New York Stock Exchange. Instead, occupations occured on parks where people eat sandwiches on their lunch break. From the beginning, it was ghettoized. So it's not hard to go to ghettos and occupy foreclosed homes, occupy your parents basement, or the internet.

The 'occupation' is a symbol for the successes of such tactics. But it is also a mirror for the master language which values property, commodity and labor which we are attempting to disrupt, in diverse speech acts which call this ground of reality into question.

Most people in Oakland want to change the name to "Decolonize Oakland", but it's not quite enough people to pass consensus. Just so you know though, the sentiment is there. "Occupy" is just a word. I try to take it in the spirit of satire. Sometimes you do have to throw a mirror up to authority.
