Forum Post: I admit it - I HATE the Rich - so much ... It's ok to hate the rich when their behavior warrants it

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

man I f-ing hate the rich (well most of them) - their aristocratic uppity behavior is sickening to me. But guess what ? I'm in my mid thirties and work full time. And I don't want their stuff or money, I just want them to stop taking our dignity, stop freezing our wages, stop outsourcing jobs and downsizing staff, stop taking: our time away from family, our tax dollars, our politicians, our environment, our healthcare, our retirement (that we've EARNED by paying into our whole lives), our chance at entrepreneurship, our chance for an education or earned upward mobility, stop making products so cheap using slave labor and marking up prices so high, stop driving up housing prices and making land grabs so you can artificially inflate the markets ... and on and on - ps I feel Drugs are for losers and have never touched them. Do I fit your stereotype? F it - you're going to focus on the fact that I admit I hate hate hate the rich and you'll ignore all the reasons I gave as to why.... ps I hate welfare fraud too - chew on that for a while..

What I hate most about the rich is they love stuff so much they just love it - like little needy babies - oh how they need it to make them feel whole (their views on life and what's important are backwards) They'll buy a child laborer in China as long as they can make lots of money. They'll buy stock dividends in a country that robs resources and causes starvation in Africa. They'll vote to let a child die by denying coverage as long as their profits go up. They'll try to suppress new medical research and buy up patents so that cures are never discovered. They'll wear ugly diamonds mined by children and slaves. They'll mistreat animals in disgusting factory farms and treat them as though they aren't living beings. They' want at our national parks so they can rob all the resources that don't belong with them to start. Parks that were preserved and passed down for future generations.

They don't care because they have a deep dark hole to fill - that void in their souls where the conscience is supposed to live.

It's ok to hate the rich - when their behavior warrants it! Hate away !

Probably not good to hate. Kind of has a corrosive effect on the hater.

[-] 3 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

What is "rich"?

[-] 1 points by freewriterguy (882) 11 years ago

i hate (means to love less) the people who stole all the land, and puts us in a position where we have to labor for 30 years to buy a small piece of it back with extringent HOA regulations put in place by an over active government (zoning restrictions). It sickens me to see these food banks everywhere as the only way we can help those in need, when really, if we would help people get a place to stay, they could much more easily afford food for themselves, than they can afford shelter. It reminds me of this scripture: "they strain at a gnat and then swallow a camel".

Whats it mean when your responses come up as [removed] ?

[-] 1 points by LeoYo (5909) 11 years ago

It's okay to seek economic independence through the pursuit of cooperatives thereby depleating any undeserving wealthy individuals of economic control over people's lives. Better to love and empower yourself than to waste time hating others for the success they could never have achieved without you.

Are there any ethnic groups you hate when their behavior warrants it?

[-] 2 points by elf3 (4203) 11 years ago

no... but I do hate people regardless of ethnic origin if they do bad things or if they really suck, but if they just merely suck for instance, and they're not a murderer I might downgrade my hate to annoyance

[-] -1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

As a liberal progressive I avoid hate. Better to embrace love no?

Who do you hate.?

[-] 0 points by highlander (-163) 11 years ago

I still want to be rich. To earn money as a means of financial independence, as a reward for hard work, that would be awesome. I do not wish to be dependent on Washington for any entitlement whatsoever.

[-] -1 points by mideast (506) 11 years ago

do not hate the rich - hate what they do
THAT is how we can succeed
Generalized hate is just not productive

most people do hateful things for one of three reasons
greed & religion & power

do you hate a rabid dog for doing what it does?
do you hate an addict for doing what he does?

What's "REALLY" bothering you ?

[-] 1 points by elf3 (4203) 11 years ago

world poverty - seriously (I just see no need for it) and no I don't have some secret desire for a Lexus. You know I'm a young person and in my short career - I've been sent off by company downsizing and off-shoring 3 times.. due to a new corporate policy of turning over staff every five years (it keeps pay low) but even so I never spent a second on unemployment because I was able to get work right away and I'm a hard worker and extremely independent. But the ability to be self reliant has changed - we've gone through this shift where getting a job isn't possible no matter education, skills or experience and now it's all dependent on either luck or who you know. They're calling people back on full day auditions and 6 interviews for jobs in pet food stores. Staples has a psychology exam and disclaimer where you sign away civil and state rights and privacy on a 20 page application. (From what I got they want to make sure you're a conformist who loves authority - I did not pass) . If you want to know what it's like out here investigate it, see it from the other side. It's ridiculous. This is how third world nations got the way they are. I fear poverty is going to become the "New Normal" in America. And yes it does suck to think this way all the time. I don't know if it's good or bad (good for society, bad for me) I guess. You know reporters love to talk about how the middle class and poor feel (they even have round tables to speculate on it) but they never go out and do the investigating or actually ask them what it's like) Where are the reporters? Where is the real news?

[-] -1 points by UnFriendlyObserver (-32) 11 years ago

We have been pretty Much Isolated From world Poverty .. but there are 2 billion people living on less than $2 per day .. now that is something drastically wrong.. sure it may be the only life they ever knew .. but where's the hope .. where's the dreams.. .. I wonder if they know about the western world .. and all our huge piles of wealth .. where even the poor have food to eat .. I wonder if they "hate us " .. I sincerely hope not .. But if were to walk through their neighborhoods I wouldn't blame them if they didn't make me feel welcome .. why should they .. what have I done to ease their sufferings .. how have I made a difference in their lives .. When I recieve my paycheck .. it's all mine .. and I share with no one .. guilty as charged.

"We have been pretty Much Isolated From world Poverty"

Who's "we?"

[-] 3 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

"Pretty much" being the key words.

There is really no way to isolate Americans from world poverty.

You guys don't live in a country. You live in a business model.

[-] -1 points by Clancy (42) 11 years ago

How much income do you warrant as "rich"?

[-] 2 points by elf3 (4203) 11 years ago

Well if you have enough money to influence a politician (I think that would count) but I may have to come up with some studies or polls to determine a correct conclusion. Elf poll says ... in general if you can pillage African country's resources, or buy up like 6000 patents on a cancer gene and then charge for research then that would certainly, not only warrant ongoing studies, but could be a definite sign.

[-] 0 points by Clancy (42) 11 years ago

So you're talking about the super rich, not people who make 1 million or under

[-] -2 points by Kinetica (14) from Houston, TX 11 years ago

Yeah, fuck the rich.

[-] 2 points by GypsyKing (8708) 11 years ago

Just the kind of transparent, monosylabic, reverse psychology you'd expect from one of this movements enemies. As if we had to say it yet again, this movement isn't about hating the wealthy, or hating anybody; it's about fairness and the rule of law. It's about saving democracy from a criminal oligarchy, who are a very tiny minority of the rich.

So do you mind if I ask you to take your silly-ass hatred BS down the hall?

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

RIGHT-ON

That is if it was a reply to [-] -2 points by Kinetica (19) from Houston, TX 1 hour ago

Yeah, fuck the rich.

[-] 1 points by GypsyKing (8708) 11 years ago

Yes, it was a reply to Kinectica.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

OK - just wanted to be sure as the main post has it's merits.

[-] 2 points by GypsyKing (8708) 11 years ago

Agreed.

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Quite a few ankle biters the last few days - Hey?

[-] 1 points by GypsyKing (8708) 11 years ago

Yes, I find that I am able to think more clearly when working on the blog, because of all the diversion/distraction going on here. In spite of knowing better, they do manage to get my temper up, and I don't think very much positive thought can go on when one feels anger - and so I will probably be here less often.

There is very good reason to engage in what goes on here, but personally I'm feeling less able to make a meaningful contribution in this setting. The fault is my own; I'm less capable of disengaging emotionally here than I once was.:)

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I can relate to that. With me though it is an outlet - I have always liked slapping down BS and I have always had a passion for making a better society/world. Maybe it is my depression - but - I am more productive when challenged when I am under pressure. I also learned early in life that it is ok to be pissed off - as long as you use the energy in a positive manner ( a shift of focus ).

[-] 1 points by GypsyKing (8708) 11 years ago

I know that. You are very strong in that regard. I guess we must all simply find a way to go on being productive, and I'm not so capable of the continual battle that goes on here anymore. I need a more contemplative setting to do my best thinking.

But I will continue to look in here, and to follow the great contribution you and so many other stalwarts are making.

Cheers!

So now OWS is justifying hatred?

[-] 0 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Your conversation is with elf - don't start throwing shit around. Have your conversation with elf3 it is her post and she can stand by what she wrote - it is her reasoning. Your attempt at smear is lame - to say the least.

[-] 2 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

DKA. A question for you: are you moderating this forum / thread? And if yes, why are you attempting to suppress a valid comment and take a shot?

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

BTW - how was any of my comments to coyote88 an attempt at suppression?

[-] 1 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

As you said, the conversation was with elf and coyote and my feeling was that you interrupted it before elf could answer it him/herself. And in my opinion, it was done in a intolerant manner.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Sorry you feel that way - but in all good sense - the question should have been posed to elf3's position/post and not been directed as an attempt to draw in OWS. Perhaps the question was valid - just poorly worded?

[-] 1 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

Possibly so. One should not blame the whole for a bad part.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

dont play dumb, he is asking are you a moderator of this forum

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I am not playing dumb. I moderate - don't you? And if I were a site moderator - why bother with trying to correct an attacker - why not just boot-em and remove their attack comment?

[-] 0 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

then say that and stop with the fucking attitude it was a simple question

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

A question that was presented with an attitude. Show me where I tried to suppress coyote88's comment/question.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

what ever dk bully the forums like you always do

[-] -3 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Fuck off db - go be negative somewhere else where they will appreciate your contributions - find and join an Exxon support blog or something. Take coyote88 with you.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

and your true emotions show up thanks for that.

Im still sense science and knowledge needs to be present in the occupy movement and until then i will not leave. Till the eyes of people including him and you are widen i will not leave.

I have no business with him nor would i like to take him anywhere near my social circle

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

And your true emotions show up ( expected ) and you show that you stopped by to give me shit in a conversation that had nothing to do with you.

[-] 0 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

it had nothing to due with any of us but it is on a public forum if you want it to be private send it in a message

That is the whole point - block head - this post does not represent OWS - this Post was an issue/item/statement made by elf3 for anyone to comment on - OWS did not write or post the topic.

Comprende?

The hell you say. When I comment to you it is on topic. You are butting in on a conversation that does not involve a topic that requires any input from you. So - Who is the bully(?) - when it is you who came after me.

[-] 0 points by DanielBarton (1345) 11 years ago

what ever Donkey Kong do what you do

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

What valid comment?

To answer your 1st question - I and others who care about this forum will defend it.

[-] 1 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

Defend is fine, but are you moderating (that was the question)?

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

are you moderating?

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

What valid comment?

[-] 1 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

Sorry, it was not a comment but a question that was what I originally referred to. My correction. So answer then: are you moderating this forum?

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Consider :

Moderation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moderation Moderation is the process of eliminating or lessening extremes. It is used to ensure normality throughout the medium on which it is being conducted. Common ...

Now ask your self if you are moderating for Coyote88

As yes "I" stepped in on coyote88 to slap down his/her smear attempt.

Look around - you will see individuals doing this all over the place.

[-] 1 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

I had heard rumor that you were the unofficial moderator of this forum, that is why I asked. And no, that was not my intention. I did not see that as a "smear" attempt as compared to some other comments I have seen.

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

What trying to put elf3's post in the context of being an OWS post? It is an attempt at smear by misdirection. I still deny your statement that I tried to suppress anything - I tried to redirect to the proper course - I did not suppress.

BTW - are you not also an unofficial moderator on this forum?

[-] 1 points by engineer4 (331) 11 years ago

Ok, but maybe do it in a more tolerant or inclusive way. And No, I would never claim to be a moderator. I only read and comment for discussion of ideas in hope to learn other views and bring out some real solutions, not just throw around talking points and rhetoric. There is way to much of that by many here.

[-] -1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

But you have been moderating. This current conversation is you moderating - Me - this makes you an unofficial moderator - same as me. I am sure you have done this elsewhere on other topics with other individuals. At one time or another everyone here takes a turn at moderating on one topic or another.

[-] -1 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

Okay. So hatred for some is okay. What happened to tolerance?

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Again your conversation about this post is with elf3.

And by the by - just for this one little aside - the greedy wealthy that are destroying this country and the rest of the world?

Well.

They have not been dragged out of their homes or their cars or their planes or their offices and hanged.

So - all in all - I think people are amazingly tolerant.

Now run along and have your conversation with elf3.

[-] 1 points by Coyote88 (-24) 11 years ago

My conversation is directed toward elf. But you keep interrupting. Are you two the same person?

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

My 1st comment to you was for you to stop throwing shit and talk to the individual who wrote the post. Since then you keep replying to me. Try commenting to elf3 and talk to her about your problems with her post.

[-] 2 points by elf3 (4203) 11 years ago

I think my point was demonstrated. There is an eager propaganda in this country by the opposition and corporate media to paint this movement into a corner. The moment we begin to talk hate and class warfare and call the RICH out on the carpet - they go on the attack calling us "failures, losers, people who hate success, or anyone with wealth.” Hate is dangerous to them it’s an emotion that collectively causes people to take action. I am willing to admit I hate Wall Street after all Wall Street hates this movement and they have waged war on it. Listen to every corporate radio program in the country (They were motivating the opposition to Hate Occupy on a constant basis.) It’s a great motivator hate, a far better tool than apathy. Personally my hatred of Wall Street motivates me to want to change the system. What Wall Street expects us to do is to sit here with our signs and feelings of understanding, "looking like hippies" while the RICH trample our freedom and we apologize for getting a bit grumpy and “negative” They don't like hate, they don't like being called out on the carpet so they stamp it out and they have the exact answer every time (without ever even bothering to ask - are we perhaps JUSTIFIED in our feelings of hatred? Definition of Rich = someone with enough money to bribe a politician or to make decisions about bank bail outs and who uses that wealth to do unconscionable things (though they may be legal). Thanks DKA - I think the American public has been tolerant enough. Hate is the new fear you’re supposed to be afraid of your own hate – you’re supposed to feel hope and dream of far off rainbows and pots of gold. Though as you pointed out I don't represent Occupy I merely agree with it. Nearly all the opposition who commented however did just exactly as I thought they would - which is ignore the question - is my hate deserved? Why do people hate the rich? They just honed in on the word hate. Let me ask the opposition? Do you hate murderers, and , and cowards, and rapists? Is the emotion justified? Sure why not? I hate bad people who do bad things with their MONEY. And let’s all admit you can do a lot more with money than you can without it. So who has the most influence over economic policy? Isn’t that RICH people? Well RICH people, do you want the entire country to hate you? If not – should wise up – because personally I’m not afraid of your propaganda machine. And I HOPE, Occupy isn't either. Didn't HATE end the European aristocracy? And to all the good Rich people out there (sorry I'm afraid you're getting lumped in and going to take some heat too - maybe it's time to take action against those bad Rich guys now with all that influence your money buys you - just maybe stand up for the rest of like 98% of your fellow humans?)

[-] -2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

If one can love - one can hate. Hate in and of itself is not a bad thing. It very much can drive positive endeavor. The abolishing of slavery ( for hate of the abuse of a fellow human being ) etc.

Your post was attacked because there is power in the proper allocation of and use of Hate.

Attackers of OWS ( Occupy ) and all supporters of the movements for a better world will do what they can to twist meaning and sling mud.

I just wanted the attacker of your post and OWS through attacking your post to understand - that game does not play here. So I said they should have their conversation with you if they needed further enlightenment and not go dragging in some unrelated concept of their own design.

I figured you more then capable of handling the idiot.

[-] -3 points by usurp (-9) 11 years ago

You hate the rich because you are a failure.

[-] 5 points by elf3 (4203) 11 years ago

failure brews up a lot of hate and blame - I'm for it !!! - FELLOW and FEMMOW "FAILURES"... feeling left out of this economy, feeling sick of wondering how you'll pay the mortgage next month or tired of that anxiety pit in your stomach that keeps nagging at you all day while you figure out how you're going to feed your family this month, or perhaps buy them gifts on their birthdays, or you are cringing as the holiday season rolls around because you don't know how you'll reciprocate on gifts again this year? Tired of running in your little hamster wheel while the company you work for blends 6 jobs into one (yours) but you're lucky to have a job so you just work harder and come home late while not claiming the extra hours or the lunch you worked through so you don't risk getting laid off? Tired of wondering how you're going to afford a $100,00 education for your kids (by the time inflation hits it), take care of your elderly parents whose medicare and SSI is being decreased, and afford your ha ha ha "retirement" before you die (and figure out how not to let the kids foot that bill) while your spouse has been laid off and can't find a job after submitting like 6000 applications and going on 30 interviews - all on your 30,000 a year or less (after taxes) salary. Well goddamn you IMPROVE yourself now go to school or something in your ha ha ha "SPARE TIME" with your "SPARE FUNDS" - ORRR hate a billionaire who influences the policy that created this shit economy to begin with (and join a movement that has a better life in mind for you and your children)

[-] -1 points by usurp (-9) 11 years ago

Well then maybe you should have stayed in school and you would be more than unskilled labor.
