For a year and a half, 80-year-old Kentucky resident Shirley Logsdon received repeated calls from a debt collection agency over an unpaid medical bill.

Then one day, out of the blue, she received a letter saying the $983 debt had been handled — purchased by Rolling Jubilee, a group linked to the Occupy Wall Street movement.

“I was dumbfounded but delighted, of course,” Logsdon, who is retired along with her husband of 62 years, told AFP.

“We got a letter saying that everything had been resolved — finally it is over, you don’t have to worry, you don’t owe us anything. (…) I didn’t know these people. It was a godsend.”

Normally debt collectors don't call to say the matter is cleared up, do they? They never give away their rights to sue at a later time for the remainder of the money.

I agree.

It does seem odd that it all of a sudden shows up in a French paper.

Yeah, for some reason they pick up from there and, too often, the Guardian. I have zero expectations from the telly.

To share out to a wider audience - that is how the internet can get better presentation to the general public.

Well since an obvious shill downvoted the comment - it must be good for a repeat:

Oooo down voted twice - same shill ? No matter seems like some shill (s) do not like my encouraging people to use social media to share out information to a wider audience - SO - it MUST be worth it to repeat:

Yep - if you're gonna "find" coverage - the internet would be the place to "LOOK" as it is not a presentation. I expect foreign media is doing the same as our own home grown corp(se)oRATe media = using events elsewhere for distractions from what is happening at home.

Yeah, I go to newspapers overseas to get the other side or the dirt on what is not being reported here. I suspect they do the same over there and somewhere we get pretty close to the truth in the middle.

Has a tendency to make the gamesmanship in the media much more obvious.
