Young people like socialism and socialist policies. Bring on the young. Let them lead.

''Abby Martin and Richard Wolff discuss Socialism in 2019'':

''Young people'' - are less & less infected by their parents' & grandparents' propaganda & prejudices and from your link ..... ''The word "socialism" does not carry the same stigma it did in the past, now that it has been resurrected by celebrity politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Many young people's political views often change as they grow older, but their support for socialistic policies is a sign that all the old rules of politics are changing fast.''

8 years ago when Occupy started you couldn't even mention the word "socialism" on this forum. We've come a long way to waking up the American people to the deleterious nature of capitalism. Social Security, Medicare, our transportation infrastructure, public schools to age 18, these are all socialist programs, programs the American people rely on for survival.

More socialist policies are needed to ensure that people earn enough money to live not just as individuals but to raise families as well. Worker rights have been wittled down to nothing. "Employment at Will" laws leave us at risk every day that we go to work. Jobs with no paid time off to have quality time with family or just simply to relax and enjoy life.

Americans have become class conscious again understanding that capitalism only plays into their own exploitation to enrich the wealthy and corporations.

We need programs that will make sure that everyone has enough. Everyone doesn't need to be equal and the rich can remain rich, but everyone needs to have enough.People shouldn't have to take on debt to maintain a standard of living.

"How Socialism Made America Great"

https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-socialism-made-america-great

The very foundation of the economic security of any American's life is underpinned by socialist policies such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, free immunizations for children, public education, free school meals, transportation infrastructure, etc.

These things counter a free market capitalist system with checks and balances. Without those, we're all at risk.

Eight years ago, we couldn't mention the word "socialism" on this forum because there were so many commentators ready to pounce on it.

Most of these commentators have already dropped out so it is only we the diehards who are still here plugging along, at times all alone by oneself. It's the survival of the persevering ones. "Somewhere, my love, there will be songs to sing.. Somewhere a hill blossoms in green and gold."
