Unless they are in a safe liberal district, what professional politician is really in favor of gun control? What we need more then anything else is to recruit new people to run in primaries and clean out the corrupt professionals.

I agree, but I see the way to get money out is to get honest people in to change the laws. Politicians from both parties are corrupted by the money and have no motivation to do anything that endangers their reelection. They will be happy to limit money going to their opponent, as long as they can leave a loophole for themselves. Money is a problem, people are a bigger one.
Yup, keep relying on criminals to clean up the country.
Meanwhile, groups like OWS will be looking for better ideas.
