Forum Post: Do you believe there are fewer people joining White Supremacist groups because so many have joined the Tea Party

I do.

http://reason.com/blog/2012/08/08/a-weak-white-supremacist-movement-is-eve

But I also know that white supremacist extremist groups have tripled since Pres Obama has been elected.

http://www.democracynow.org/2010/1/11/white_power_usa_the_rise_of

Does the increased amount of guns/ammo sales since Pres Obama was elected mean anything in regards to the extremist hate groups rise.?

So many whites cling to the notion that they have only what they deserve to have (like the free land their ancestors were given) and that it has nothing to do with what others do not have. (No forty acres and a mule.) That's a supremacist notion and it still is the majority view among whites. As blacks on average have so much less material wealth and income than do whites, their logic dictates that the fault in that lies in something about black people, and not because whites are advantaged relative to blacks.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

True that. It's the "blame the victim" mentality.

If they get benefits they deserve it. If you get benefits you are lazy and dependent.

Those who think this way are a big part of the problem.

[-] 1 points by bERNARDmARX (37) from New York, NY 11 years ago

Sadly a majority I think. And well represented here on this forum too. Of course the old school racism is more isolated - the stuff like whites not wanting to sit on a bus seat if a black person had used it, separate drinking fountains, etc. The new school doesn't go in for that stuff, and the white supremacist groups that are overtly racialist are isolated to a great extent. The new school is simpler: "It's not my fault what the blacks are suffering. You are divisive to mention that."

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I agree. The racists say calling out racists, IS racists. it's bizarro worl. up is down, left is right, black iswhite.

They ain't kiddin' me!

Hate is the enemy of progress! Love will overwhelm hate. Every year brings us closer to the elimination of hate groups. Occupy is the embodiment of love.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Agreed.

[-] 2 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

We need more people in Occupy.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

i will take care of that right away.

[+] -5 points by Nowsmichigan (-310) 11 years ago

This is way to funny and if you have ever watched some of the ows videos it's quite the opposite. Some of their demonstrations are full of hate, theft, rape, violence, theft, filth, and an occasional murder

[-] 2 points by imagine40 (383) 11 years ago

You are taking individual, isolated incidents and unfairly applying them to this great movement of love and support for the 99%. We denounce all violence, and hatefulness. Perhaps you must look harder to see the wider truth. It may be you are searching out negativity because you oppose the Occupy movement of love. Are you an enemy of love.? You must put your hatred aside and embrace the love we all share. Namaste?

I would like to think that there are fewer supremacists - because there are fewer haters in the USA. I would like to think that people are maturing.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I believe there are fewer in my part of the country, And probably in most parts.

And even though there is evidence of growing hate groups I have great hope for the future.

Here is an excellent advocacy group that keeps track ofevery hate group/crime. Use the map to find your part of the country. Maybe there is something you can do in your neck of the woods. Or maybe your area has no hate groups.

http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/hate-map

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

When things get bad - good people will stick together and support each other - while on the other hand bad people will get really nasty.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Agreed. I would also say that fear is what some politicians use to tap into hate. Even nurture hate. fear of crime (by those people), Of having your job taken (by those immigrants) fear of daughters despoilage (by minorities)

I think when we hear "real America" "real Americans", "take back our country" from certain groups it is code for hatred against other groups.

But I DO believe there are more good than hateful people. I think the good are growing, & the hateful shrinking. And I agree the good (if informed & motivated properly) will come together and overcome the hateful.

I believe OWS is part of that.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

OWS and all similar groups engender education awareness acceptance of others and point out that the enemy of the common individual - pushes hate and divisiveness.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

There is plenty of reason to have hope. All the people I meet at OWS rallys are forward thinking tolerant people. On the site that is mostly true.

The people my college age child associates with are diverse and tolerant people.

We just gotta stay informed stay active. Look sharp, stay frosty.

[-] 0 points by richardkentgates (3269) 11 years ago

I think the vote, whether you agree with the outcome or not, shows exactly that. America is maturing and hate is dwindling.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Good people MUST come together to fight and denounce all hate groups.

Check out the map, any hate groups in your neck of the woods?

It’s wrong to call every White conservative a racist. That’s just as bad as racists calling all non-whites bad. This “one size fits all” mentality only causes resentment of the tens of millions of Whites who aren’t racist. I think the incessant “it’s whitey’s fault” rhetoric actually drives people to the more extreme race viewpoint.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I agree with you. That would be wrong, that is why I don't feel that way.

I didn't say any of that. Who did? Nobody here said that, except YOU!

The vast majority of white people are NOT racists.

So perhaps you are trying to distract the conversation from the honest valid points being made, with falsehoods.

Please refrain.

Did you check the map? Do you care about a hate group near you?

[-] 0 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago

Well I’m glad someone finally admitted all Whites aren’t racist. From reading a lot of the posts I was beginning to think folks here really felt most Whites were racist. Just because a lot of Whites don’t like affirmative action and preferential treatment based on race doesn’t make them racist.

And , no, I didn’t look at the map. I actually looked at length several times and think a lot of the groups they define as hate groups aren’t really hate groups. SPLC has no credibility.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Really? I noticed they had many Klan groups, neo nazis, anti gay, ,anti muslim, black separatists. So they seemed like your average run of the mill hate groups.

And not one comment on this thread suggests all white people are racists. None!

And why doesn't the SPLC have credibility.?

[-] 0 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago

OK, I visited the SPLC site for you, here’s a few groups that SPLC calls hate groups.

Nation of Islam – A black separatist group. I’d say pro-black rather than a hate group. Kind of like Muslin NAACP. American Patrol\Voice of Citizens Together. People against illegal immigration. California Coalition for Immigration – People against illegal immigration. Tradition in Action – A conservative Catholic group. Family Research Council. I guess if you don’t believe in gay marriage on religious grounds you’re a hate group. Go figure.

My point is SPLC see everyone as a hate group. Doesn’t matter your political beliefs, religious beliefs or social beliefs. If you don’t agree with them for any reason you are called a hate group. I say, what about just having different ideas and morals? Why is someone who is against illegal immigration or doesn’t like gay marriage called a hater.

I also noticed two stories on the SPLC front page that seem to foster hate. One was about schools having “mix it up lunch day” day. Where children are encouraged to eat lunch apart from their normal friends. This is probably OK, as long as it’s not forced. I mean what if you don’t like who they expect you to have lunch with.

The other story seemed more like a warning. Saying “Far-right extremists react with fury and fear to Obama election” Seems like a scare and smear tactic against Romney supporters. I’ve not heard anyone threaten violence? So why the shot at conservatives.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Maybe they were talkin about the college students at ol' Miss U. They got in trouble for a near riot with angry racial slurs against Pres Obama.

I do recall the student lunch story. Seems to be good idea to have kids meet and relate to different people. gotta start early if we are gonna teach tolerance and prevent bullying.

Your list of groups oddly left out obvious hate groups kkk, neo nazi, that I saw when I checked Georgia. What state did you check.?

And I don't think the hate group measure of SPLC is just being against gay marriage, or anti illegal immigration. So You might have misunderstood that.

Here is a great clip that shows the right way to deal with the racists clowns that are slowly but surely disappearing.

http://colorlines.com/archives/2012/11/clowns_use_humor_to_protest_kkk_rally_in_charlotte_nc.html

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

How great is this?. This the way forward man. I want a red nose!

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I got one of those - it's only 26 degrees outside - and the wind is howling.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

That'll do it.

[-] 0 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago

Yea, already seen the video. Cute. However on SPLC, my gripe is some private entity decides to publish a list of groups they don’t like and call them hate organizations, Yes, there are real hate groups, but a number of the organizations don’t fit the description of a hate group. I’m uncomfortable anyone can put up a list of groups and arbitrarily decide who is a hate group. That’s dangerous. I’m surprised some of the groups haven’t sued them. So, that’s why I don’t think theiy're not credible. I’m done. Goodnight.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I guess you don't want me to answer. But I have a right to my opinion. I think the mechanism of sueing the SPLC is a good idea.

And it may be some grups don't belong their. I didn't notice any that do not.

Frankly most of the anti illegal immigration, or anti gay marriage arguments I hear seem kinda hateful but I don't really know.

The SPLC of course have been doing this a long time. So I think they know what they are doing. I'm gonna check the groups you mentioned to see if there is any obvious hatefulness.

G'nite

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

SPLC has a lot of credibility.

It's ok for you not to like them but they are very credible.

[-] 3 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I think that people leaving both parties and registering as independents is also a good sign.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Except those joining hateful political parties right?

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Separatists supremacists fanatics of any stripe of hate and divisiveness any such group is a sickness that is in any society. And is to be shunned by all good people.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I think they know they are losing support. They are getting desperate and more people see them for what they are.

Scared, weak, and angry.

Peace

Score one for the good guys.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Or "take that Mittches!".

Just kiddin' this ain't gotta be party related, I was just reminded of Beyonces tweet on election night.

Makes me want to slap the leaders in the face with a 2x4 - and get the followers into intensive care/treatment to see if any can be brought to sanity - but keep them out of the general population at all cost.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Ya. Agreed.

But, sometimes, the Federal Agents are pretty sexy. I corrected it.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

It is appalling how sick and twisted some people can be.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Yep.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

They need to be removed from society until some sort of cure is found. Lock them up each to their own - no mixing - let em enjoy each others company. Maybe place em on an island with the incurably greedy? No no no - sorry - no mixing - no telling what kind of nasty mutation they would create by being mixed together.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Let's just send a rescue squad down to Texas and grab the good people, family etc. and tell both groups to have at it. Hand that shit over to them. Pull all US Military and watch 1/3 of their economy drop.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

If only it were isolated to just Texass.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

They have room. Just round 'em up and send 'em down. Everythings bigger in Texas.

Can we contain such a border? By land and water? What if the idiots make a concerted effort to dig to China for instance? They might try in such a way as to pop a hole into our molten mantle that could be as bad as popping the Yellowstone caldera. They are both stupid enough as well as determined in their stupidity.

Sure.

I think though as a kindness - we should probably have them grow hemp for supporting/supplementing their food supply as well as clothing and smoking it might help them mellow out a bit.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I like the hemp idea.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Hemp should be embraced as a healthy source of jobs industry and resultant products. Healthy for the economy the people the environment.

ABT is a prison gang, more into drug sales than racial issues. Surely you not lumping ABT with the rest of White society?

[-] 4 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

The Aryan Brotherhood is a white supremacist prison gang with members and operations inside & outside of prison.

Obviously! Several were arrested OUTSIDE of prison. LOL.

In any event no one is lumping them with the rest of White society.

Except YOU.!

They are a hate group they represent the 20k members they claim. Not the 150million white people in America.

The vast Majority of white people are not racists. And do not defend these hateful criminals, And do not lump them with rest of white society.

You should refrain as well.

Check the map. Please tell us all if there are any hate groups near you.

The NRA and the Tea Party isn't full of a bunch of racist and hate filled people. I've been seeing a general belief that that's all they are.

Good people MUST come together to fight and denounce all hate groups.

Yeah I don't think anyone says that. But thanks for playing.

So if these groups are not "full of racists and hate filled people" how many ARE there?

[-] -3 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago

I agree. Specifically the NRA is a rights group. Has nothing to do with hate.

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Once upon a time the NRA was a rights group. In fact, almost everyone in my family was firmly aligned with the NRA. That changed about 25 years ago, when the NRA changed.

Now, they are pretty much douchebags considering things like the Tiahrt Amendment.

[-] 4 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

Bless you! (still there are probably lots of decent nra members right?)

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Not my problem. They spin so much bs that if their members eat that shit up then they represent a problem. Fuck 'em.

They have an online fruitcake with his little online fruitcake book that has all of these sources listed at the end. Only, you have to go through each little source and read through it. You then realize that it isn't a real "source".

[-] 4 points by VQkag2 (16478) 11 years ago

I agree. Fuck 'em.

[-] -2 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago

For the record I’m no longer a NRA member. I resigned my NRA membership a number of years ago when the NRA published an article in their magazine calling law enforcement officers (cops) jack booted thugs. If you remember, George H. Bush (not Dubwa) publically resigned his lifetime NRA membership for the same reason.

The thing about the NRA is it has approximately four million members. However, there are an estimated 85 million private gun owners in the US. They don’t have near the clout they think they do. I believe in gun right, and own lots of guns, but when the NRA starts calling good people names I have to stop supporting them.

My biggest complaint is we require little or no firearm training for gun ownership. There are probably millions of armed citizens walking around armed who shot maybe fifty rounds at the gun range and think they’re ready for combat. These people are dangerous to themselves and others. Something as simple as understanding any time you have to shoot someone for self defense you will pay at least $5K in attorneys fees; and probably have to wait several months to find out if the Grand Jury will indict you. Even the most clear cut self defense shooting will most likely go to the Grand Jury.

I’d like to see month long classes on gun use before being able to own a weapon. It would cover self defense strategies, various ways to carry a weapon, what happens after the shooting, etc… Some of this would be borderline combat training, other parts would be studies of real life self defense shootings, gun laws in general and so on. My point is standing in front of a target choosing your shots carefully is not adequate to responsibly carry a weapon.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I'd like to see the gun manufactures stop letting guns slide out the back door. I would also like to see gun owners lock their shit up.

[-] -2 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago

Why? I'm a law abiding citizen and never been arrested. All legal gun owners are like me; otherwise they couldn't legally own a gun. Why should I have to register my guns or lock them up?

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Lock them up so that they don't get stolen, sweet pea.

[-] 0 points by jbgramps (159) 11 years ago
