First,.. PLEASE NOTE THE QUESTION MARK AT THE END OF THE POST!
This is a post from another thread that I thought was particularly interesting and I'd like to know "why" OWS qualifies to actually "plan the fixes" for anything or how we know OWS plans are the best or most effective.
-From the thread-
I got to talk to a "social organizational structure" group. Their main focus is working with hospitals on remote cousults, I wanted to know how they organize the best people to do the best job (because if you're remote you're picking from a pool, there could be 5 back specialists, but how do you know which one may have seen this issue before. We had an amazing conversation and they actually did more brainstorming on our side that I could ever have hoped for.
Their question was simple. OWS is based on direct democracy, but what happens when you have a brain tumor and "the majority" are back specialists? The "consensus" kills the patient even though one person had knowledge that was better than that of the group.
I didn't think about it that way but I've seen this VERY THING in action at OWS. My local gathering had a crowd talking about financial reform and one of the people there was a CPA, he kept trying to interject real world knowledge but got shot down time and time again by people who were just too emotionally "anti-suit" to even listen to him. Add to this that the people there didn't "understand" what he was saying in the first place, and weren't interested in taking the time to learn and THAT is a brilliant pointer to the structure issues in OWS.
-end post from thread-
Also the original poster ask that we keep discussion in that thread but I think this deserves it's own topic so I'll just link back to the thread here, and maybe you can also reply there if you have some particular insight.

Maybe it's time to let the "back specialists" fix the problem because the "brain surgeons" sure have this country F---ED UP!
Insist on a Direct Democracy!! - http://www.osixs.org/Rev2_menu_commonsense.aspx
"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can excersize their Constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it." ~ Abraham Lincoln ~

LOL. Sarah Palin's "Death Panels".
As if private insurers were not deciding the fate - with profit calculations - of those they are supposed to cover.
How can you get anything done, if you have no real leadership? One must recognize that just because you have a lot of people on a ship, does not qualify all of them to be captain. Different people have different expertise. A successful organization mines the gold of it's members ans does not slow down the process with a general concensess on everything. The way this group was set up, dooms it to failure.
Look at the lack of organization on this web site, it takes forever to find anything.
It's been over two months and no real platform of reforms has been established.
My local OWS is getting smaller not bigger.
Also, we have a very divided political system. there has been so much infiltration from the right wing, that they are purposely slowing it down.
We need a clear agenda of reforms for our country, and the best leaders, to get us there. From my experience both locally and on line I think we need to start another movement, one where the right doesn't have a foothold and the basic structure is built on a foundation for success.
Unfortunately, protesters come from the society they protest. If that society has forgotten how to run a democracy, the protesters won't find it easy to do either.

And how long did it take you to realize this?
Direct Democracy is mob rule and is associated with anarchy. This movement was started by an anarchist. The form and structure of this movement is based on anarchist principles. The intent is anarchy. I don't believe the organizers of this movement have any intention of working with and through government for change.
Theres alot of posts about this stuff. If you want to know more, this will get you started.

None of those really address the question presented. OWS "ASSUMES" that the majority always know best. That is the exception to the rule in real life, in real life people specialize in knowledge and understanding, and if the "masses" just have a bone to pick with an issue that they don't fully understand they can do a billion times more harm than good.
OWS - Nukes are bad, c'mon everyone let's roll this nuke out of our city.
One 1%er with a "I support Wall Street sign" - Uhm you might not want to do that, that's a type 4 meridian cobalt 3 type device that doesn't handle being moved well. I helped on that design so I know what I'm talking...
OWSers - Shut up man!, you represent THE MAN man, we're going to get your toxic nuke filth out of our city roll roll roll you're just a troll trying to troll us into keeping it, whatever you say must be bad so we'll do the opposite roll roll roll **BOOOOOOOOOOM*
that is OWS in a nutshell.
