David Graeber, a longtime anarchist, joined the protests in the very beginning on a whim and quickly set it on a new course to make government less corrupt. If there is an endgame to the protests, he says it's to "delegitimize" the current political system to make way for the kind of radical change that would create a more open and fair democracy unshackled by the interests of big money.

This course to make government less corrupt was accomplished 200 years ago by Scandinavian countries. 99ers over there in 1809 developed the New Guard system from our Declaration of Independence. After refining and testing for 150 years 25 OECD nations adopted this system along with two of our states. We the people commission Jason Bourne to investigate corruption for our future security as a duty given us by our founding Patrons. Jason pounces on police abuse. Reverses corporate personhood, delegitimizes the current political system, brings our prison rate to world norms and unshackles interests of big money with no detractors. Jason is seen and embraced as a father figure in the 39 nations who adopted this system. What are your thoughts of this global phenomena?

This experiment in Direct Democracy by anarchists has been effective in attracting alot of attention. This movement has managed take advantage of every social/political/economic frustration to gain attention.

However, Direct Democracy in a park will not translate to the government of a country that is the greatest country on earth and leader of the free world.

Our Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, gave us a Representative Republic. No way is a group of anarchists going to improve on what our Founding Fathers gave to us.

I suppose the 98.99% should give proper credit to the anarchists for launching this experiment. It has helped us to discuss and speak out about many legitimate frustrations and problems in our country.

However, no OWS GA will ever take up the legitimate demands of the majority (ie: campaign finance reform, financial reform, corporate personhood) with the purpose of affecting change through government. Because this is not their goal. Their goal is to use the majorities legitimate frustration to gain support for one thing: Direct Democracy.

I believe that 99.99% of people will reject Direct Democracy beyond the park. It is up to the 98.99% to move our legitimate issues with government out of the park. To work with government and through government to enact the positive changes that we want for our country.

Well written and spot on! Just as I would have expected from you, April. My DEMAND is that everyone should be required to read this.

There is a great market for that which appeals to the antagonist; why does he exist?

The last word in the article sums it all - "experiment"

[-] 0 points by CoffeeKicked (12) 12 years ago

And you are all subjects of that experiment. Did you see the bad movie "The Experiment"?

[-] 0 points by Thrasymaque (-2138) 12 years ago

Ya, we are all subjects to this ridiculous experiment. Luckily, I'm not on the front lines, so I won't be freezing to death.
