I've been working for direct or participatory democracy for 22 years. 11 years ago I discovered that famed former Senator Mike Gravel (he ended the Vietnam draft and released the Pentagon Papers) had the BEST project to make it happen. My website http://VOTE.org is devoted to it. Endorsers include: Patch Adams, Noam Chomsky, Daniel Ellsberg, "Granny D" Haddock, Julia Butterfly Hill, Ralph Nader, Coleen Rowley, Pete Seeger, Cindy Sheehan and Howard Zinn: http://Vote.org/endorsers

The economic demands by OWS are great. But we need a way to KEEP our nation on track. Gravel's proposal KEEPS power with the people. Please VOTE TO TAKE THE MOCK OUT OF DEMOCRACY AT http://VOTE.org !!

True, ballot initiatives are useful, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves. Consequently, I have posted the Strategic Legal Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

OWS seems to be talking and modeling Direct Democracy. DD works in other countries like Switzerland and Sen. Mike Gravel's book, Citizen Power describes how to get it for the US. There have been popular uprisings before with no change in the system...ie. Vietnam, Nuclear Freeze, etc. Direct Democracy is a structure for political equality. Pls take a look at a short 4 min. film http://ni4d.us/ and an interview with Rachel Maddow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVrdOv_f5XI

Please pass this on as you feel appropriate. If you would like to talk with Mike or Evan, let us know...

With peace and sustainability, Lynne

This morning, on DemocracyNow, Kevin Zeese & Margaret Flowers, organizers of the http://october2011.org/ occupation of Freedom Plaza in Washington DC, said their main demand was "participatory democracy."!
