Let me be very clear if OWS is against corporate and government fascism then this is your baby!
The internet seems like the last free market and hope for First Amendment Rights. Now they want to kill all that.
Wake up people this is a take over call your Congressman and Senators office tell them that you will go to the streets tin their district o inform the public. Tell them that you oppose these bills because they are loosely written and violate Constitutional Rights.
According to the Stop Pricacy Act the Attorney General has the right to shut down any site it pleases and claim that it infringes on copyright laws with out due process. Guess what that means Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter, Ebay, some of Amazon are all offenders to these bills.
Why don't I make it very clear to you corporate America want to narrow down the the brokers of good and services on the web so that they can get a bigger share. In other words they want to eliminate competition.
The government wants a excuse to close down websites that does not agree with them under the guise of theft of intellectual property. I guarantee that the next bill that will come out of congress is a bill attempting to loosely define copyrights. and intellectual property. Some people have stated that this is similar to the way the Communist Chinese government censors the internet for it's citizens. The only difference is that our government is using copyright as the scapegoat. I believe it. This is fascism at its best.
There is many other ways to prevent internet piracy besides writing a fascist bills promoted by the Attorney General, Homeland Security, FBI, CIA, Chambers of Commence, etc. But these assholes don't want to do anything short of taking over the Internet.
Only more people on the streets can stop this.

Oh, I know I responded to a post on this a few days ago and just responded to another one know (I also read that article and others). I just came from other online forums which I was warning people about this. Very few people responded--sadly.
BTW, the fact that this was drafted and pushed forward in secracy (no I know that this has been labeled a Conspiracy Theory, but if this evil bill passes, you know I can't say that the FEMA Camps is a conspiracy theory anymore. Can you imagine, anyone could be detained for next to no reason (no charges, no miranda rights read, no constitutional rights). SCARY, SCARY,SCARY.
The fact that this awful bill was drafted and passed through a closed door committee and their was no hearing, just tells you how desperate they are to get this bill pass and how much of a violation it is to the constitutional rights of Americans.

I am not hopeful because most people are more concerned about what the Kardashians are doing, dancing with the stars and getting their bargains on Black Friday! you should read about Edward Bernays (nephew of Sigmund Freud) because he recognised a long time ago the majority of people are brain dead about these kinds of issues and this is what the politicians and those in power are relying on!
Well, at least me and you and some others are talking about it. But I do share you pain; our society has their priorities all screwed up. This is why there is so much more "soft news" in newscasts. Yes, it is shame that people allow themselves to be so distracted and in the dark to what is really going on in this country. I think people are addicted to soft living and don't want to accept the harsh realities around them--they are in deep, deep denial. I will look into Edward Bernays and his writings about this.
I keep thinking about the society in Ray Bradbury's dystopia "Fahrenheit 451" This society only cared about what was on TV and was completely brain dead to what was going on around them. In the end they got nuked. I feel like the protagonist, Guy Montag who awakes to the awful truth about his society and how people were being controlled and how intellectual freedoms were being destroyed (book burnings.)
We are in perilous times and most people are only concerned with who won Dancing with the Stars. Ignorance is not bliss, but a death sentence. I try to be hopeful, but I really am so disgusted with my fellow Americans who are so clueless. If feel like screaming at them to wake up--but they won't listen until it is too late.
I am not American so I was able to get a Visa to visit countries like North Korea ( definitely the most thought-provoking country I have ever been to ) and Cuba and got a real feeling for what it is like to be in an authoritarian environment. Perhaps I am extra sensitive to these issues because of my visits and generally a morbid fascination of regimes and countries that have the audacity to take away people's freedom. I don't think there's anything as frightening to compare with this situation. yes I also feel like screaming at Americans because I did live and work there at one time and I used to love your country. Now it scares me. What they are trying to do to Julian Assange of wiki leaks is disgraceful. Are you following this matter? and Private Bradley Manning is another one. Everyone should be out on the streets protesting about the way he is being treated?

You know I read S 1867 it is very misleading in part 1031 it says that the President can use any force on any person who sides with terrorists, but in 1032 it says that US citizens will not be detained in this section. Which is it are American citizens getting detained for not? I am calling on Monday, I don't want this crap passed as is if you give these people even one unchallenged line in a Defense Bill it will be off to the gulags for anyone who frowns at Obama. I urge everyone to S1867 Section 1031+ and reflect on what it really is saying if you don't like it call your Senator.

I encourage you as an active example of what these people are doing to study some of the absolutely futile and laughable evidence Sweden is using to extradite Julian Assange of Wikileaks. if you want the definition of what it's like for an innocent person to be totally set up by big government then is this is the textbook example. this website has some excellent information and has been set up by some of Julian Assange's supporters.Read how absolutely farcical some of the purported evidence is against him just to get him to Sweden and then to USA which is surely what all this is about.
