As true today as in 1964 - we have made progress - let us see that we keep moving forward.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

music and faces are both good at breaking down walls, the two together can leave one defenseless.... I think it is hard to watch this and not be moved, forget about the red/blue, we have been told that money is freedom for so long, what seeing real freedom can be shocking at first....

We don't own women and that's a fact. Which is why I think most will vote economically in this election and not over something so silly as an issue that will never concern them; how many have or intend to have abortions? You're talking about a very small percentage of the white population and the blacks don't matter because they're not in this "swing" category - they're voting black anyway.

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Economically? So we have one guy who looks at America and says to himself the rich are having a tough time and need a break, while 47% of the poorest Americans have got it made and need to be kicking in more, and the other guy don't, so what exactly is the economic way to vote?

[-] 2 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

70% tax on any income over a million smackeroonies.

Employ 10,000 accountants to track down the unpaid taxes of the ten percenters.

Make it a crime to send American dollars to offshore tax havens.

Freeze all American money found in offshore tax havens.

Then use all this 43 trillion dollars to make jobs for the working class, just like that money was supposed to do, before those dumb rich fucks realised they could hide it somewhere.

[-] -1 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

The rich are never going to open their bank accounts to grant you access and even if they ultimately agree to donate to government, you will never see any of it.

Obama served his purpose which was to prop up Wall Street and expand Free Trade. But none of what he has implemented or proposed has been good for working and middle class people. These people who are now feeling the crunch, with no hope of relief in the future, are definitely going to vote economically.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Most women are going to vote with the total package. Period.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 11 years ago

Left-handed Irishmen with German brother-in-laws almost always vote for the tallest person.

At least that's one theory, the other is that folks are folks.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Truth.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I'm not running for office. {:-]) OH - you mean they will follow my lead - hmmm - I don't think I am known well enough for that to be decisive.

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

LOL. The biggest mistake that people make is making the assumption that it is all about Roe v Wade when these political clowns start making ignorant statements.

When you are dealing with the rhetoric.........like how rape is defined..........the implications are not just abortion. It includes reproductive health, education, the criminal justice system, etc. and so on. Women have the capacity to look at this and economics and international policy and......so on.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

oh - OH - oh - you mean it's not about me? {:-])

Yeah you are correct there are all too many people trying to put women down on the air - and so by trying - to get women to opt out because they have been insulted.

ASSHOLES - don't ever discount women!!!! Do so at your own peril!!!

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Hahahaha. That's funny.

True.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

There is nothing funny about discounting women . . . . . OH . . . you meant about me. Well yah that is my usual reaction from women. {:-])

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

ASSHOLES - don't ever discount women!!!! Do so at your own peril!!!

^^^^

That was funny. And true.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

But it is true. Not that assholes would know - until it was too late for them.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

It is. They don't.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

BTW - just so you don't think that I am down on myself - the other reaction that I often ( besides laughter ) get from many women - is a marriage proposal - but then the damn alarm clock goes off - and I never know how it turns out.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Aw don't feel bad. I scare the shit out of men. I am good like that.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Probably only those that need a good scare and really ask for it. {:-]) I don't feel bad - I just gotta stop setting my alarm clock.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

lol

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

{:-])

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Really? I get that all the time too.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

proposals? Way ta Go.

[-] 2 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

You are the second guy to say something about proposals in the last week. Now, I try really hard not to say anything because I realize that it is to each their own. But, that is some crazy shit. I do not understand people who think marriage is a good thing. I do not understand people who are divorced that want to remarry. I do try. Or at least try to keep my mouth shut. But, I think you may be having nightmares.

[-] 2 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Yeah, I only tried it because of peer pressure.

Was a real chore hanging in there for two years.

Free agents might die lonely, but I've had such an experience up to now, and I'm still planning trips away.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

HahahahahahaahHaahaha - yes - I have always considered myself to be single - 4 life - my mom has a hard time accepting that I am ok with being single. Right now at this very point in time society is set up to pull people apart not bring them together and encourage them to stay that way.

[-] 1 points by Builder (4202) 11 years ago

Naaah, the dream thang.

Had it just this morning.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

They can be fun. {:-])

[-] -1 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

And what pray tell is the total package? By any chance does it include family? Because if it does, their undying commitment to the right to abort is secondary.

I love Tina Fey. I do. She is awesome.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Me 2 and she is - but remember - I am the total package - oh - no - wait a minute - Yep - Never Mind - dreaming again! {:-])

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

hahaha. I should have used a different way of expressing it. I can see that now.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

LOL - nah you were fine just fine in your original comment.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

I can look to my future as an older person...I shall butcher cliches and say batty things. Kind of like I do now but with extra cheese.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Stay young at heart - {:-]) ( being "that" older person - perhaps I should apologize for setting a zany example - but - I won't - as laughter is good medicine ).

[-] 0 points by Brython (-146) 11 years ago

I know you don't want to hear this but what the Right is essentially saying is that they believe God, by whatever designation, is omnipotent, as responsible for all things, and that would include everything from the rape to the pregnancy to the abortion clinic; likewise God is responsible for the moral mandate contained within ourselves to preserve life. Regardless of belief concerning religious matters, there aren't many women who would disagree with this; those that do are probably outside the bounds of "normal."

I am also of the opinion that those who would deny abortion under such extenuating circumstances are not only a minority, but a rarity. I base this on perceptions of racial prejudice.

If we're accessing the overall rhetorical package, I think most today have veered away from past perceptions to once again ground themselves in their heterosexuality to include children and family.
