Sept. 13 Actions to Support Grand Jury Resistors

For more information on what this is about, see the Committee Against Political Repression!

Thursday, September 13th

Seattle, WA: Rally outside the hearing at noon in front of the Federal Court House (700 Stewart St). In the event that a contempt hearing is held that day, please be prepared to come inside the courthouse for to support the resisters. You’ll need photo ID and court-appropriate clothes. Don’t bring anything you wouldn’t be able to get past metal detectors and security guards.

RSVP on Facebook

Grand juries are closed to the public, but contempt hearings are not!

We believe that the Assistant US Attorney overseeing this grand jury has already granted immunity for at least one, if not both of the subpeanuts for September 13th. That means it’s likely they’ll be taken straight from the grand jury room to a contempt hearing, then whisked off to jail for up to the duration of the investigation. If you’re coming to Seattle already that day for the solidarity demo, please be prepared to go inside to pack the courtroom for any contempt hearings that may happen. You’ll need photo ID and court-appropriate clothes. Let’s show Leah and the rest of the subpeanuts that we’re with them, every step of the way!!

Vigil from Noon on the September 13th till noon on September 14th.

Portland, OR: Rally in front of the Federal Court House (1000 SW 3rd Ave, at Salmon) at 12:30pm until 3:30. We will be giving live updates from Seattle.

Minneapolis, MN: Rally in front of Minneapolis City Hall (350 S 5th Street) from noon to 1 pm.

Everywhere: National Fax in Day to Support Grand Jury Resistors

Mpls. Mn - I love it - Do it To It guys. Do It To It Everyone. Yes - we need to protest in the justice system. Awesome.

Could leaflets be made up to hand out to people and perhaps to give to justices?

MN is a great progressive state. They are frequently on the forefront of the important issues.

Awesome Medical community - I wish that I was still eligible for the Mn Care health coverage. Many good social programs too - but they really could be better as far as getting covered - the process can be awful and slow. Shelters for the Homeless - whew they suck. There are not enough of them and most in existence are geared to being halfway houses. Not shelters for economic victims.

Always room for improvement. People like you will agitate for the change the 99% need.

People like us - you mean. People getting involved to make a better society for all.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Yes indeed. I been to MN. My girlfriend has family who have moved between the Dakotas and Mpls.

Big beautiful country! Gods country as they say. You are fortunate!

So far so far - I just signed a petition to make sure our governor does not approve fracking in the state, this issue as well as others to protect our environment are ongoing - as industry corpoRAT interests keep trying to tear down the barriers protecting the environment.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I've done the same thing & protested Gov Cuomo as well here in NY. Seems like he's gonna allow something. We'll see.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Yeah - Cuomo - I have signed on to letters addressed to him as well. How insane to consider fracking when for 1 there is no need and for 2 the damage it causes to the environment can not be repaired.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Shortsighted. I hope we learn before it's too late.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

I pray as well.

Did you sign this pledge?

http://occupywallst.org/forum/the-be-ows-for-one-day-pledge/

We'd love to have you at OTS or another Occupy protest.

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

No - why(?) - I signed another pledge - the one put out by OWS. I would love to stop by but I am in Minnesota.

[-] 0 points by marthafromOTS (-78) 12 years ago

The pledge calls for protesting anywhere in the world. It's a great idea and we should all sign it and protest!

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

I already protest every day and in every way that comes available to me - here on the internet and when I need to be out tending to personal business. Advocacy is My prime drive.

[-] 0 points by marthafromOTS (-78) 12 years ago

Alright, but when you have a chance, please encourage people to sign the pledge to be "OWS For One Day". It's one of the best ideas I have seen on this forum all week. We should all encourage it.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

I ask people to sign the OWS pledge not stuff from trashy.

[-] 1 points by marthafromOTS (-78) 12 years ago

Your argument is immature. Would you go to a KKK site and look for inspiration? Would you take inspiration from Pol Pot? Would you take inspiration from Ayn Rand?

I wouldn't go looking for inspiration at those places, but if I heard a great idea from the KKK from Pol Pot or from Ayn Rand that I could benefit from then I would use it without a second thought.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I reject the KKK outright with no reservations that they might have a good idea I might like.

You would do well to do the same. Their good ideas would only be masking bad ideas. Look for good ideas from good people.

So how many truths must a troll present to you before they slip you their prettied up lie? How long an exposure to an individual does it take to gain your trust? This is what you invite with the acceptance of trashy - you invite trashy to get comfortable with you - then you allow him to start messing with your thinking. Same as you do when you accept something by say ol Joe Stalin - something he said sounded great to you - hmmmm you say to yourself what other great thoughts did this mass murderer have?

Comparing a user on this forum to Stalin is a huge stretch, but OK. Whatever makes you happy. lol

I'm old enough to judge the merit of an idea without being blinded by the proposer. If Stalin had a great idea that I could use, I would not hesitate to use it.

Do you accept bad ideas from your friends, and refuse good ones from your enemies? Is that how you work? Can you answer this honestly?

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

I honestly look at the value of statements and issues. Then I weigh them. Then I look into them myself - if I have not already. Then I weigh them again. I look for differing perspectives as well. What I don't do is allow trolls like trashy to have influence in my thinking. Not everyone is aware not everyone does enough of an examination of a thought idea issue concept and so are easily led astray. For this reason alone trashy should be booted every time he is recognized.

Wow. R U truly blind?

I support an idea for the idea itself, not for who proposed it. I guess in your way of thinking you would accept a bad idea if it was presented by your friend, just like you would refuse a good idea if it was presented by someone you dislike? To me, that is being blind.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

If you consider NOT the source - then you leave yourself open to that source. U have some growin to do.

[-] -1 points by marthafromOTS (-78) 12 years ago

So you have known the troll for a week now - sheesh. Go play have fun. I am gonna fall over for awhile.

Question: do you have good relationships with men(?) or a tendency for disasters? Like your Harley guy.

I like smart exciting guys. Thrasymaque seems very smart and exciting. He's never boring.

You and your friend VQkag2 seem to judge people a lot and you make a lot of projections with your rhetorical questions like the one above that insinuates to me having bad relationships. Thrasymaque doesn't do that. That's one great thing about him.

He doesn't judge like you do.

Third Person Self-Reference ... et amour propre ? There lies madness !

We all have different tastes. I've been here a week and if I had to pick my favorite poster it would be thrasy hands down. I think he understands OWS better than most people here and at OTS, he's funny, and I like his disobedient side which is anarchy like. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a date with him! I think he's great!

[-] 2 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

A week you say & you know so much about him already ? Wow, what a guy !

ne quid nimis ...

I disagree!

[-] -1 points by marthafromOTS (-78) 12 years ago

You would sign on to a good idea from J Dahmer ? or the green river killer? C. Manson?

I mean they are just individuals - right?

Yes, I would, if the idea was good I would sign on. Supporting an idea of a person does not mean supporting all the opinions and ideas of that person.

I guess in your book an enemy of OWS would simply have to come up with many good ideas and then OWS could not use them because they come from our enemy.

I'm sorry, but your position is lame. A good idea is a good idea no matter who said it first.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Why does it matter where a good idea comes from? This pledge from the one you call trashy is one of the best ideas I have seen for OWS in a very long time! We should all embrace it. It helps us! We need to get as many protesters on the ground as possible?

Are you against the idea of protesting?

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

I will not support trashy the troll.

I do support protesting - on the street protests & actions and over the internet protests & actions.

I will not give any support to a troll. They use it as a validation and there is no validating a troll.
