Whats next? Rage? I bet they will be there in less than a week.

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

Unfortunately, they block out YouTube here at work. I'll have to look at the link at home.

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

Take the power back.

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

I'd love to but would get fired, and I can't afford that right now (just bought a house). But.... I can get to it on my phone!

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

There you have it, Tom Morello on the ground.

[-] 2 points by susanmiller (3) from New York, NY 12 years ago

[-] 2 points by castrophany (2) 12 years ago

I have their bear, the deathbear, tattooed on my wrist. Taking the day off of work? I think so.

[-] 2 points by Spiegro (4) from Orlando, FL 12 years ago

Not sure how it's a surprise when you're posting about it on the internets.

Still, tis awesome no doubt.

But I'll hold out hope that Rage Against The Machine reunites for this... A kid can dream

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

its a surprise for the system, not for us.

[-] 1 points by gfydirtbags (2) 12 years ago

Air Supply will be playing at 4pm.... and ty lur is opening for them

[-] 1 points by bondtrader (1) 12 years ago

Damn i can't leave work until the stock market closes. I might be a little late but hopefully I can still catch some of their songs. My company has a private car service that I can take over there. So where exactly should tell my driver to bring me does anybody know? I'm not too familiar with the downtown area because I live in the Hamptons. Any advice would be helpful. If anybody needs a ride from uptown on Park ave let me know my driver can take us.

[-] 1 points by Natasha (5) 12 years ago

Maybe they'll give all the proceeds from their $500-and-up-per-ticket shows at Roseland to the Occupation. Wouldn't that be lovely?

[-] 1 points by hollyt (4) from East Longmeadow, MA 12 years ago

Why no media coverage! News about playmate insuring her fake boobs for a million bucks though. Good thing starving people and unemployed got that bit of crap news!

[-] 1 points by hollyt (4) from East Longmeadow, MA 12 years ago

Hey, just tried to see crowd on Wall Street via earth cam app but it is blocked. Can see other parts of NYC but not wall street. So much for freedom, stupid GOP followers! Freedom my ass!

Looks like the news is coming hard and fast on this...It just might be true that Radiohead management doesn't want thousands of people down there http://gothamist.com/2011/09/30/occupy_wall_street_says_radiohead_s.php

[-] 1 points by jsmartinII (2) from Oregon City, OR 12 years ago

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

well over 50% probabilities, they are shitting their pants, they would do anything not to have 30k+ people there.

[-] 1 points by b33m3R (23) from Alpharetta, GA 12 years ago

Sweet! Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame should be doing this as well, God knows he's been singing about this B$ for years.

[-] 0 points by ashleytaber (3) 12 years ago

Oh, and Javier? I'm here in NYC, and I can see for myself that there's no band setting up downtown, and that this false rumor is not going to help gain support for the occupation.

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

The cops wont let them set a tent, do you think they would allow them a stage, how idiotic can you be?

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

Would Tom Morello do?

[Deleted]

[-] 1 points by ashleytaber (3) 12 years ago

Ha! Honestly, I hope it's true. My partner is still down there, and I know he'd love to see them. I have to get on my bike to ride back to my job as a double-agent now, though.

[-] 1 points by ashleytaber (3) 12 years ago

(this media-op gig doesn't pay enough for me to take the bus)

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

it doesn't surprise me that they exploit you for crumbles.

[-] 1 points by NewBluesRevolution (1) 12 years ago

Occupy Wall Street - listen to these lyrics about wall street and main street, particularly the last verse! search for News Blues Revolution performing "Blue Revolution" on Facebook or Youtube

[-] 1 points by ritesofspring (1) 12 years ago

[-] 0 points by murdoc (0) 12 years ago

[-] 0 points by murdoc (0) 12 years ago

i hope this wasn't an attempt just to get people wanting to see radiohead out to wall street to form a big crowd.

[-] 0 points by Tartarus (0) from Jersey City, NJ 12 years ago

Stop peddling lies, guys. This only makes us all look like jackasses. Radiohead should NOT be the reason why people come to this.

[-] 0 points by evisokey (0) 12 years ago

sweet. i work on wall street so maybe i'll see if anyone here wants to check this out. are there going to be too many filthy, unemployed loser around to be able to enjoy it though?

[-] 0 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

Are there going to be some wallstreet traitors for the jobless to unload some overdue rage on? If you are going, please make sure you carry a sign that says "TARGET".

[-] 0 points by bootscannonball (0) 12 years ago

multiple sources now saying radiohead is not playing...what's the deal?

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

what are the multiple sources?

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

how strange, WSJ reporting on whether radiohead goes to OWS or not?

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 12 years ago

yeah.. funny. isn't WSJ owned by Fox News now?

[-] 1 points by anonymmm (5) 12 years ago

Yup, technically it's News Corp, the parent company of Fox and WSJ.

[-] 0 points by MonkeyBusiness (0) 12 years ago

Radiohead may not be members of the 1%, but they're close.

[-] 2 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

thats why they are dangerous

[-] 1 points by PartTimeJanitor (2) from Macedon, NY 12 years ago

Anyone who has worked for a major record label should be intimately familiar with the concept of economic slavery. The fact that Radiohead went indie immediately after fulfilling their contract with EMI suggests that even they were getting screwed.

Yes, I'm sure the band members are all fairly well-off (especially now that they're out of their contract) but it's not wealth itself that is being fought; the real issues are the concentration and subsequent abuse of power that extreme inequality of wealth enables, and the lack of opportunity for those not already in the 1% club. I can think of few places better than the music industry for finding examples of wealth being used to keep talented people poor, and the "pay what you want" experiment with the In Rainbows album looks like a good case of bypassing the system and achieving wealth without greed.

If Radiohead does show up, it will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

[-] 1 points by revg33k (429) from Woodstock, IL 12 years ago

The 1% is not about how much money you have but how you earn it. If you earn your money by screwing over the nation then you are 1%

[+] -6 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Ugh... who wants to listen that musical heroin?

Isn't that during the NYSE closing bell anyway? Screw Radiohead!

[-] 2 points by Spiegro (4) from Orlando, FL 12 years ago

What's with the hate? Need more love in your life buddy.

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

Yep!

[-] -2 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Radiohead is playing during the closing bell march. I just hope people are smart enough to leave Thom Yorke and his band of weirdo bandits alone in the park.

[-] 1 points by Bizinuez (120) from Raleigh, NC 12 years ago

Yes by all means let us shun those that would grant us higher exposure to march on the people that haven't decided to stop laughing at us yet.

[-] -1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

They've stopped laughing and sent their minions to distract us.

[-] 2 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 12 years ago

Oh, please. They will easily gather a crowd of thousands. If you want a disruption to wall street, as well as exposure, this is it. The crowds will gather before 4PM undoubtedly.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

What the hell are Radiohead fans going to do? Tell everyone there that they should be afraid of their own shadows.

Guess where they are playing on Monday night? The Jimmy Fallon show! How establishment!

[-] 2 points by Bizinuez (120) from Raleigh, NC 12 years ago

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, riethc. There's no such thing as bad press at this point. Our objectives and objections are shining through. Take friends where you find them.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Don't let the media mold the message. That's what happened to the Tea Party.

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 12 years ago

I do hope radiohead has the right idea about what the movement is about - better they just play music, though.

[-] 1 points by Bizinuez (120) from Raleigh, NC 12 years ago

I'll stay vigilant. But seriously dude enjoy yourself a bit.

[-] 2 points by eheller (2) 12 years ago

Why is it that often the same people who get angry about the lack of mainstream media coverage, later complain when groups that support us go on mainstream media to support us? "Establishment" ? Grow up. It's coverage!

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Coverage which represents the movement is what we want, not celebrities telling us who we are. Besides that, Radiohead is extremely depressing music.

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

you have no tactical sense

[-] 1 points by yomandonthate (2) 12 years ago

wow dude you sound like the biggest idiot ever.

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 12 years ago

Hmm, are radiohead fans not good enough for the protest?

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

When they aren't fawning over Radiohead I'd say they could protest.

[-] 1 points by yomandonthate (2) 12 years ago

peep this elistist saying that only the chosen ones are allowed to join the protest...

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Elitist? Follow the thread I've been writing. I have concerns about the timing of the performance (4pm, during the closing bell march) and their music (uber depressing, post-modern and fearful).

[-] 1 points by Javier (283) from Villa Maipú, Buenos Aires 12 years ago

timing is just right

[-] 1 points by jenovadark (2) 12 years ago

It is stupid little disagreements like this that divide us. Besides, what's wrong with celebrity support? Remember Rock for Darfur? Well, this is rock for the 99%!

[-] 1 points by sudoname (1001) from Berkeley, CA 12 years ago

I'm sure it will also draw a lot of music fans, and curious people too. Music really draws people together on these things (like the movements in the late 60's). Who knows, maybe they have some opening bands too?

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Nothing I can do about it now. I'm just trying to get you guys to think.

[-] 1 points by jenovadark (2) 12 years ago

And we're trying to get you to think. Negativity is the last thing we need at this point.

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

That's what I'm thinking, keep it positive! Have you ever listened to Radiohead?

[-] 1 points by mksfhao (1) 12 years ago

but radiohead is super political... hail to the THEIF? what do you think that's about?

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

What I remember about Hail to Thief (and most Radiohead albums, for that matter) is an intoxicating, drug-like music peppered with Orwellian references and nonsensical gibberish.

Next you're going to be telling me Tool is a deep philosophical band that speaks to the human condition.

[-] 1 points by revg33k (429) from Woodstock, IL 12 years ago

They are Just look at the lyrics to Ænema

http://www.lyricsmania.com/aenima_lyrics_tool.html

Just because a band has fun with their lyrics and is not always political does not mean they are bad.

look music like a lot of things in life is a matter of personal taste example in the playlist I have going right now I just went from Rob Zombie, to The Verve, to Johnny Cash, to Moby. Get some diversity.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

I really don't care if you think you are musically eclectic. Listening to Anglo-American rock music of the second half of the 20th century does not make you musically diverse.

[-] 1 points by revg33k (429) from Woodstock, IL 12 years ago

That was just the last 4 bands, if you want a more inclusive list of all the music I have.. I don't have the time or the inclination to type that out for you.

My point still stands music like a lot of things in life is a matter of personal taste grow up and let people listen to the music they want to listen to.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

I'm saying that having Radiohead play at 4pm during the closing bell is a distraction. I'm not telling you what to put on your personal playlist
