OWS Tells Newt Gingrich to "Take a Bath"

Newt Gingrich told Occupy Wall Street protesters to "go get a job, right after you take a bath." Funny coming from a filthy rich politician who is rolling in dirty money. Since leaving the House of Representatives over a decade ago in a cloud of ethics violations, Newt has amassed a fortune of between $7.3 million and $31 million by the peddling of political influence. He has been personally paid $840,000 by the Chamber of Commerce, more than $1.6 million from Freddie Mac, and $575,000 from Growth Energy, an ethanol lobby. His for-profit "think tank", the Center for Health Transformation, was founded to lobby on behalf of health insurance and pharmaceutical corporations, such as Wellpoint and Pfizer. His 527 group, American Solutions for Winning the Future, was funded by big oil and coal companies and worked to oppose climate change legislation and promote offshore drilling. Newt peddles political influence and corrupts our democracy so he can maintain his $500,000 account at Tiffany's. Filthy.

On Monday, Newt is in town to raise money from the 1%. OWS will be there to greet him. Join us, at 11:30 AM at 37th and Park, to tell Newt to "take a bath", and clean our politics of the corrupting influence of corporate money. Facebook Event Page

Occupy Wall Street is part of an international people powered movement fighting against neoliberal economic practices, the crimes of Wall Street, and a government controlled by monied interests. #OWS is the 99% organizing to end the tyranny of the 1%.

Getting all money out of politics is the only way we can ever win our representative government back.

This is the most important issue we face, in my opinion.

When you and I can only donate $2,500 to a political campaign, and multinational corporations can donate virtually unlimited millions, We The People have no voice.

Is it any wonder that neither side works for us? We can't afford their favor.

Here's a video for The 99%

This is only the beginning...

Newt Gingrich is a dirty, smelly newt. He reeks of economic and social stench. He is also ugly.

I don't think a bath will help him, his stink is through and through. But as candidates go, he would be great fodder for Obama.

Unfortunately, in actual policy, not rhetoric, Obama is not much different than Bush. This is the result of "legal" bribes (PACs, lobbying, Citizens United) taken by practically all of our elected officials.

In order to obtain the massive funding required to gain access to their desired positions in our government, each candidate must dance for millions in soft money. That money comes with a price, and that price is their policies and votes.

Until we eliminate corporate influence in our government, neither "side" will serve the will of the people.

Agreed, and very well put. Your onto something sqrltyler, don't stop, keep pushing this. It's one that OWS definitely backs.

Thanks for this good post!!!

With so many adults out of job, why is Gingrich for child labor?

The definition of Newt Gingrich is to rent a politician. You can't get any dirtier than that.

Big hello from England. Watching the movement with enthusiasm. Please link to 'OccupytheWorld' and have someone liaise across the globe with translations.

Start a transition from OCCUPY to BOYCOTT to target commercial corporations. Link to groups that are environmentally conscious and get representation.

Fight fire with fire!

Power to the people. Good luck
