This is great. Let's have one of these days like... every month.

[-] 2 points by struggleforfreedom80 (6584) 12 years ago

Let´s work for creating democratic workplaces and communities, a democracy built from the bottom up. In a society like this we´d focus on people´s needs every single day

I read your second article some weeks ago and agreed with quite a bit of it. I think the movement could benefit from the input of people who already live in directly democratic communities and have for generations (some Native American and Quaker communities, for example). I'm watching the Manufacturing Consent documentary on Chomsky and the media currently.

[-] 1 points by struggleforfreedom80 (6584) 12 years ago

Glad to hear :)

MC is very good. Make sure you also watch "The Corporation" and "The Take" (Links are below my article "The Transition Phase..")

Also make sure to watch Chomsky at Occupy Boston http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZbNT62aprM and this lecture from April 2011: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iebK7VVDayY

Good stuff.

God bless all of you! This is truly amazing! Goku used to be my hero, but now it is all you guys and gals, standing out in the cold and fighting for the greater good..what an inspiration!

Let's see if our corporate media even has the courage to air something like this on national Television...doubt it...they'd probably just try to spin it in any way they could.

[-] 1 points by proudofOKC (361) 12 years ago

yeah, if i didn't have a good family by my side and willing to take me in i'd be fucked. Just the whole process for getting unemployment and food stamps pisses me off.

I lost my job three months ago. Unemployment said since "well it's your fault you got fired...sorry, you're shit out of luck" The real reason I was terminated was because I do not speak Spanish. My supervisor had very poor English and I couldn't fucking communicate with him half of time. So basically I just ignored him and carried on with my job and did what was needed to be done. I worked my fucking ass off for this company for 18 months, and they still kicked me out on my ass come winter time. THIS IS FUCKING BULLSHIT.

So then we lived in an old trailer in a trailer park. The house was already paid for. We were very lucky. But we still had a lot fee of $400 per month. after I lost my job and could not afford to keep up on this fee, my landlords 'appraised' the house that was too old to be moved and had to be demolished. She said it was only worth one dollar. ONE FUCKING DOLLAR. So when I moved from West Valley City, UT to Malta ID I kept in touch with my good neighbors who are struggling with the same exact bullshit. And guess what? The house WAS NOT demolished and it was repaired and subsequently sold for a nice fucking profit.

And now my wife and I have been trying to get food stamps, but the process takes so fucking long that guess what? by then time those fuckers start giving me money for food, i'll probably already have another job, and the food stamps will be taken away from me anyways.

So what happened to those three months where I had starve myself and got nothing for my taxes? This system is so fucked up beyond belief.

(wiki 'Fastenal' and check out the 'controversies' section. A lot of people probably don't know who they are, but it's a big company. I would never buy from them, and I don't think you should either. And I'm probably not supposed to know this...but it turns out that this company has a lot of contracts with the Military Industrial Complex, pharmaceuticals, Automotive, Oil industries, and probably others that I'm currently not aware of. Basically some of the fuckers who got us into mess and keep screwing us over time and time again.)

[-] 2 points by BreadLandPeace (359) 12 years ago

I just want to say how horrified I am to read what you've been through and I won't buy anything from Fastenal--I never heard of that company before, but I'll look it up. I'm so sorry to hear what you and undoubtedly a lot of others are suffering. That's why I was ecstatic to read about the Occupiers who helped the Brookyn family retake their house a couple days ago. And the press in NYC seemed pretty sympathetic, it was very good. I wish the absolute best for you and your family, what a horror story that people in your situation have been going through. I've been fighting a discrimination lawsuit against the big Wall Street law firm I worked for for almost 24 years, you really have to fight back. These 1% and servants of the 1% know, better than any other employer, how to get around the employment laws.

[-] 1 points by jimmycrackerson (940) from Blackfoot, ID 12 years ago

Thank you for your comment I appreciate that. I will never back down from this fight and I know there a lot of other people who will stand their ground as well. I'm not sure if you're 'religious' or not; so please don't take this the wrong way. But Jesus sacrificed himself so that every man, woman, and child would have the chance to be saved, regardless of their errors. Even if that means taking the non-violent revolution to a whole new level when the time is right.

[-] 1 points by BreadLandPeace (359) 12 years ago

Hi, thank you for the comment, and I'm sorry I haven't had enough time to read the website for the past day or so. You know, I was brought up Unitarian, which isn't a traditional religion, so I never thought of Christ as a god, but as a great person and prophet. When I was in the Trotskyist Socialist Workers Party, I remember a class where someone said that early Christianity was a form of primitive communism--meaning that it was based on similar principles of caring for the whole community, not everyone out for themselves. I think the teachings of Christ are amazing, and wish I knew more. Also, about four and a half years ago my father was hospitalized for almost a year, and because I had heard of the power of prayer and someone told me to look up some prayer groups on the internet, I began sending out prayer requests. One time my father was so close to death that everybody but my husband wrote him off. I was so desperate, I went across the street from the hospital to the university library where I got access to a computer, and sent out prayer requests to every online group I could find, it must have been close to 20. Then over the next two days my dad made a truly miraculous recovery, at 94, from almost every infectious disease there is, especially some of the deadly ones people can pick up in the hospital.

Within less than a week my dad had recovered enough to be discharged. He died about six months later, but that was due to negligent nursing care in that particular hospital.

I also sent out prayer requests another time when it didn't look like the hospital in the town he lived in in the Midwest would be able to transfer his insurance to New York, where I live, where I had to bring him because my family medical leave had run out and I couldn't afford to lose my job. (In fact, that was the first time I sent out online prayer requests). Within possibly a day or so somehow all the bureaucratic problems got solved, and my father's insurance was allowed to be transferred. I remember the amazement of the social worker, who said that only a day before things looked so much bleaker.

Since those experiences and others with my dad, I've sent out many prayer requests, and seen some amazing results. The one that hasn't worked yet, and I've sent out many repeat requests, is for my twins, almost 19 years old, to stop smoking. But I'm going to keep trying.

So I admit there's something that I don't understand, but it exists, and I'm so grateful for the many anonymous people across the world (almost the way OWS has reached out to many, many people in other countries) who have selflessly taken the time and care to pray for me and my family, and the other people I've also requested prayers for. Maybe I'm doing it for the "wrong" reasons, but the main one is that it works!

I think the movement, especially OWS, which is groundbreaking and is uniting people across the globe, serves a slightly different but similar function, and in a way similar to the 12-step programs. I don't know what it is, but there's something extremely powerful about a support group, and in the case of the 99%, that's a LOT of people.

I hope this isn't too long an email, but it's almost 4am and I can't sleep, and I so much emhathize with your plight. Please let me add what I learned in the Trotskyist movement in 1969 and the early '70's. It pays to fight back was a tenet based on many years' experience, and I've done that so much in my own life. But when you've got an enemy as powerful as the government, that won't even give you food stamps, you've got to have allies. You can't do it alone. Even when you have an individual lawyer, you've got to have mass (or at least group) support. it's hard to know in the specifics of your situation what that support would be--whether an advocate, a group that fights for people, a church organization--but it's critical not to let yourself get isolated and to mount the strongest, most solidified, unified defense with as many people as you can. Sorry if that's unsolicited advice, and I'm fine with people who can find strength and hope in their religion. But if the religion becomes a reason not to act in the here and now, then I think it's harmful in leading to passivity. Thanks for reading this and I really hope you win some real money, soon. Another movement slogan, that's true: a victory for one is a victory for all (because it helps defeat a common enemy). My very best wishes and solidarity.

[-] 1 points by jimmycrackerson (940) from Blackfoot, ID 12 years ago

Thank you for that! I'm still taking some time to let your message sink in. But yes, I have a very strong connection with God or Good or Truth or whatever you may call thee. And no matter how powerful the forces of evil may think they are, or how much money they steal from others, or how intelligent they think they are; There is still one thing they can never take away from me.

[-] 2 points by ropeknot (359) 12 years ago

I wish we could have an evict a banker day where we could force bankers to live in a dark back alley for a day or two in the cold, just so they could get a feel of what it's like to be homeless. Make sure they don't have any money or credit/debit cards on them first. Give them some old newspaper for insulation and tell them they have to dumpster dive for their dinner.

[-] 1 points by amanwithajob (3) 12 years ago

You cannot blame the rich for your problems, lobbyist and people who try to not pay their fair share, yeah be mad at them. But corporate america trying to get tax breaks is no different than you running to h&r block trying to get deductions and finding ways to not pay your own taxes. The companies that are making billions started small just like a lot of small businesses. Such as keds. abercrombie, mcdonalds, wendy's, as much as it will pain you but this even includes starbucks. MAybe they took out loans to start up, well guess what, Their business model probably included not giving shit away for free and paying the bills. THERE SHOULD NEVER BE A DEMOCRATIC WORK PLACE. YOU choose to work for the employer and they choose to hire you, the democracy is they give you a chance to apply, and vie for the job.

[-] 1 points by Insomnia (1) 12 years ago

The problem is NOT the businesses themselves, the problem is that the government is being controlled by some of these businesses. If congress weren't in their pockets, they would be free to make legal decisions that regulate those businesses in a fair manner. Capitalism should be free to roam so long as it doesn't interfere with state affairs.

[-] 1 points by amanwithajob (3) 12 years ago

I do not like it anymore than the next person but we have to cover our own arses and not be dependent on the idea of others do it for us, I have lost jobs lost homes been broke hungry cold, and I have not run to others to help me make up for my decisions, they were mine when I made them and they will be mine. But I get the impression this movement is acting like the problems of one are the problems of everyone. I am working to pay my debt off. Everyone needs to do and pay their fair share.

It is good to see that some people are doing whatever they can to help those in need. It should be the purpose of the banks to do whatever they can to try and keep you in your house, with foreclosure being the last resort only if it can be proven that someone is strictly living above his means. Instead, nobody can trust the financial institutions with protecting the public these days, because they are in it for profit. As long as the banks fail to be trusted by the public, and they continue to push for self-serving policies at the expense of their clients, then it is up to we, the people, to take action.

Aside from that, though, I agree in the need to create democratic workplaces and communities, such that things of this nature rarely need to be happening.

It is great to see OWS protecting People, WE need to protect each other and protect and OUR Freedom! Actions like this are great and should be done all the time but there is an URGENT issue! NO Due Process for Americans in America is serious!

We need a CALL TO ACTION, Everyone needs to GO to DC and STOP the CITIZENS IMPRISONMENT section in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA 2012).
DHS watches tree-huggers for seeing a documentary... FBI says you could be a terrorist if you have more than 7 days worth of food or missing fingers... what do you think they call protesters?!

As part of protecting OWS, we need to STOP Gov from shutting down our path to Liberty. They have the Patriot Act the feds can use to stop any threat, so I can see no reason to have military force indefinitely detain legal American citizens unless they are trying to stop mass protests like OWS and quell dissent. Think about it, Why else would they need an army in US?!

The Senate passed NDAA (93%) so the House may do the same and pass with supermajority... Senator Levin said Obama admin had them REMOVE the language that excluded legal citizens from imprisonment (there are too many broken promises from Obama to count on a veto if it comes to that).

The vote will be in the next couple of days! It would be very helpful for all camps in the area to go to DC for a few days. We the People need need to stop.this bill that wants to stop The People!

see video of Levin regarding Obama removing language to exclude Americans and more on this treasonous bill: 'Proof Obama WILL SIGN Citizen Imprisonment NDAA in a few days!'

Jesse Ventura's show, Conspiracy Theory is probably one of the most important things you can share with everybody and that's why I'm creating a menu option for it right on Project Nsearch.

These shows are well done and cover some of the best evidence out there that has been covered up by governments and the media that does their bidding. You see, we don't have a free press anymore when it comes to network news, newspapers or magazines. 99% of the media is now owned by just 5 corporations and these 5 corporations do the bidding of the new world order that has permeated every aspect of our lives.

Don't believe me? I'll prove it! Jesse did a show called "Police State which you will find below in Season 2 Episode 4 which was excellent and showed the truth about how the United States had built FEMA camps to house normal Americans that had not been convicted of any real crime but had been just labeled as "Terrorists" by the threat fusion centers built all around the country. These threat fusion centers classify you as a terrorist if you're a gun owner, talk a lot about the Constitution, support Ron Lawl, think your taxes are too high, are a returning veteran and the list goes on and on. Basically everybody in the country is labeled a terrorist by our government now. After Jesse aired the show with some hard hitting information, I noticed that it did not play again the following week as it was supposed to. Several weeks later, Jesse Ventura confirmed on the Alex Jones show that the government was so upset at the information contained in this episode that the FORCED TruTv to NEVER play it again and to take it off their website! The only way you can see this episode is on the Internet now!

This proves that we do not have a free press as our founding fathers intended and that it's very highly controlled. That's why you never learned about all these "conspiracies" that are very real and going on around you all the time. Please do your part and tell everybody you can to watch all these episodes, especially the one that was banned! If you want to prevent the new world order from creating a literal hell on Earth, then YOU must do all you can to spread the word like other brave men and women are doing around the world. The new world order CANNOT win if YOU do something every day to warn your fellow man about what's going on. Please get as many people to our site as you can and we'll do our best at bringing you the most important information we can find. Use the "Invite Others" link on the website and post our stuff to facebook by clicking on the Facebook icon at the bottom of all videos, blogs and forums. Thank you!

Give them a tent if you want to give shelter. a house is NOT a right. When people were traveling on the Oregon trail they lived in tents for months at a time and when they arrived they had to arrange their housing, No, housing IS NOT a right.

[-] 3 points by yarichin (269) 12 years ago

What did they build out of logs when they were done traveling? So, who then has the right to tell any of us we have to pay to live on land they stole from the Native Americans or took at the tip of a sword in Europe? A reset of property ownership or use is needed every few generations to prevent hoarding and slavery.

[-] -1 points by poopsmith (-3) 12 years ago

Native Americans my ass, you know they came over the Bering straights which excludes their claim to being native. They are migratory too. The indians were not the peace loving people you think and romanticize, they were quite brutal to other tribes. So get off your high horse and hop on a boat back to where your ancestors came from if you think anyone but the indians should be here.

[-] 3 points by BobH (3) 12 years ago

Ok, I hate to start my comment out like this but I belong to an Indigenous American Tribe and I just want to say that your comment was very vulgar and illogical. Of course people moved around, if you go back far enough Humans are technically all from Africa. Does that mean that Europeans do not have a right to live in Europe? No, because they established themselves there over the centuries. Did Indigenous Americans come over the Bering Straight? Probably, but that doesn't mean that we didn't have a right to live here. It's not like Indigenous People are asking for revenge for killing millions of us. We're asking that you respect the fact that Europeans came here and colonized our home and didn't ask us if we wanted to be Americans, yet generations down the line we are still here and many of us still see ourselves as duel citizens, because even though we are generally educated in American schools and involved in American culture, we still have sovereignty of our own nations. I'm not going to pretend that my ancestors were some utopian society, that is not the point. The point is that the American government killed off thousands of different societies on this continent. This land is saturated in the blood of that genocide that was supported and encouraged by governments and forced onto a sovereign people. Just because we weren't a "utopian" society didn't mean that we didn't have a right to live and "pursue happiness" as Americans love to espouse as a principle they hold dear. Cultures change, people migrate, one people will be conquered by another, that does not mean we don't have just as much right to this land if we want to fight for it as you do. The difference is that you guys had bigger guns. But even then, you were unable to wipe out the entire population of these continents because we are far too resilient and for that I am proud. I don't need to kill you with a bigger gun, or a small pox blanket, I can overtake you with my words and my actions. I live peacefully among European people and always will. Because I love that us brown folk are overtaking the continent again just by intermarrying with all of you! Ha haha, soon pure Euro Americans will be the minority. Nature corrects its self. :D

[-] 0 points by poopsmith (-3) 12 years ago

So you are implying that the tribes never fought or slaughteres one another? you need a history lesson. If I become a minority will I get all the freebee stuff and prferential treatment? Maybe I could get a job in the government, or some special scholorship based on my race and you will just have to deal with it as I take away stuff from you.

[-] 2 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

You are so ignorant. The Natives don't believe in people owning the land while white people do. White people are the ones who created all the problems here.... ownership of land, disease, welfare, etc. No one is saying people don't have a right to be here, but the attitude of white people is one that creates hardship for the common person and especially for the Native peoples. Native Americans may not have originated from here, but they were the first people here. As BobH said, all people originated out of Africa. You (and many others) have such narrow minds. You should try opening yours once in your life.

[-] 2 points by proudofOKC (361) 12 years ago

You're on the wrong side if you want to steal a car. Get into the loan shark business. I hear Bank of America is hiring. Of course if you want to just steal any and everything, you could join the mafia. Putting a homeless family into a house and camping en masse on the lawn to keep the cops from throwing them out on the streets again doesn't bring in the kind of money you seem to be looking for.

[-] 0 points by poopsmith (-3) 12 years ago

to exist is not a man made thing; rather a necessity for life to exist , and we are meant to stand on the ground somewhere !

Can you see the difference between having a place to live and driving a private car?

[-] 0 points by poopsmith (-3) 12 years ago

it is a private house too. it never belonged to the family that broke down the door.

[-] 1 points by struggleforfreedom80 (6584) 12 years ago

That might be true in some cases, but thats not my point. Can you see the difference between having a place to live, having a roof over your head, and driving a private car?

if you earn it.

these lazy people can freeze in the street if they are unwilling to take care of their family, by the way great parenting teaching kids to just take what they want not working hard and earning it.

And again we are better then you because of things like this so take your treasonous behavior to the third world countries where it belongs.

If we are so concerned with Democracy, we would go about this in a democratic manner. You know... putting elected leaders from the group into positions of power to represent you in Congress and the House of Representatives. Oh shit bro. Start with local government, put people out there to lead and bring progress to the group. That's Democracy. Electing leaders to represent you on a forum with other leaders to help move legislation that helps your cause.

never mind corruption !

[-] 1 points by proudofOKC (361) 12 years ago

By all means, please feel free to explain our current national situation and how our elected officials have progressively moved legislation to stop it?

[-] 1 points by BroBotMcClure (3) 12 years ago

Did you vote those people into office? Sucks to be you.

[-] 1 points by proudofOKC (361) 12 years ago

Indeed! The ballot forces us to decree the lesser of two evils only. I am free to choose between two self-serving tyrants. It does truly suck.

[-] 1 points by BroBotMcClure (3) 12 years ago

How do you think we stop this so the choice isn't between a douche and a turd?

Get money and religion out of politics for one.

[-] 1 points by proudofOKC (361) 12 years ago

Campaign reform! More honest people will be able to run for office when candidates don't have to sell themselves to get hundreds of millions of dollars just to run.

Check out the 99percentdeclaration: https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/

I think this will be the start of the political change that we are looking for.

[-] 1 points by struggleforfreedom80 (6584) 12 years ago

there are more ways of creating democracy than just electing leaders: http://struggleforfreedom.blogg.no/1320873951_the_society_we_should.html

Well, when it comes to passing bills, pushing agendas and making progress, not everyone can stand on the soap box at once.

[-] 2 points by GradyOgle (41) from Kent City, MI 12 years ago

Unfortunately, brother, the soap box is corporate-controlled television.
