Coalition to March on the RNC poster

The Republican National Convention is taking place in Tampa starting August 27th. The Coalition to March on the RNC encourages you to join us and stand in solidarity as we march at the RNC to fight back against the political elite and the 1% agenda.

As of now, we are a Coalition uniting groups from around the country to say NO to this political system that only works for the 1% and therefore are marching at the Republican National Convention to let our voices be heard. Together we stand to march for good jobs, healthcare, affordable education, equality and peace. On top of this, we stand against all parties of the 1% and have also endorsed the March on Wall St. South, who will protest the DNC in Charlotte, NC. For too long people have suffered while the rich got richer. We say money for human needs, not on wars overseas and corporate greed. Together, we are planning a 5000 strong march at the first day of the convention on Aug 27th. We have hundreds of national and local organizations such as Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, Get EQUAL, Dream defenders, United National Antiwar Coalition, Occupy Tampa, Occupy USF, Occupy Pensacola, Occupy Tallahassee and more (See here for full list) endorsing us and we would love for all Occupy Assemblies to come down to Tampa to join and/or endorse our coalition. Only through unity is there strength.

We will be encouraging people to sleep at Occupy Tampa's Voice of Freedom park or at these parks that allow camping for a nominal fee [Editor's note: Please be aware that a tropical storm system, potentially a hurricane, is expected to effect Tampa during the Convention. The RNC isn't telling people not to go to Florida, so neither are we. But you should check with organizers about alternatives in case of flooding.] We will be rallying at Perry Harvey Sr. Park, located at 1200 N. Orange Ave Tampa, FL, at 10 am and will be marching from the park through the streets of Tampa to "Protest RNC Square" at around noon. See here for the parade route.

Thanks and please e-mail us at marchonthernc@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

I'm sure you know but:

And please be aware that the police have already issued warnings that "anarchists are planning violent disruptions" We know this tune: They want to turn public sentiment away from the peaceful protesters. And justify anti dissent, extreme abuse of power police tactics against us.

Be strong, Stay non Violent. And be Wary of police plants encouraging you to take part in violence.

Translation: expect to see many rightie AGENT PROVOCATEUR inciters.

-- Occupy Security on Facebook has photos of a number of them from around the country.

-- Our favorite is the politician's daughter who was flown over from Italy to hold up a poster saying "All My Heroes KILL COPS."

-- Beware anyone at any demonstration who wears a mask. That is fakery. There is no such thing as an American "Black Bloc." That is a provocateur costume. Take pics of them and post copies online with links here at occupywallst.org. If you can infiltrate, do it.

-- If you see a group of young men using hand signals, expect to see vandalism and possible arson. Later in the evening is more common, but an Oakland Whole foods store had its front windows trashed in the middle of the afternoon.

-- If you see anyone with nunchukas, they're used to break windows. Inform police immediately.

-- If you see anyone with makings for arson, inform police immediately.

We have excellent working relations with U.S. Park Police. Same with Secret Service. They are professionals all the way. Same for the best police operations from Frankfurt to Atlanta to Portland.

They have a job to do. They are in the business of crowd management -- none of which requires beating up on nonviolent demonstrators.

So their will be no anarchists there?

[-] 2 points by Underdog (2971) from Clermont, FL 12 years ago

Gee, it almost seems like they're being directed by somebody to do that. Couldn't possibly be true that the (R)s have a hand (er...underhand) in completely theoretical payola scheme to enforce police brutality against totally peaceful protestors before they even show up? Couldn't possibly be true that anarchist plantshills in a peaceful crowd will start violent acts as excuse for cops to move in and arrest/drag away every peaceful protestor in sight? No...that just can't be!!! Not in America the Beautiful...the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave!!!

But then one thinks back to Chicago 1968 (Democrats then), Mayor Daley, and news images of how protestors were handled. All of it done under the Red, White, and Blue banner. Chicago thugs then and probable Tampa thugs now.

Nothing ever changes.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I saw that. We are in great danger because of police misconduct and police entrapment operations.

[-] 2 points by Krypton (73) 12 years ago

Maybe some can act as "regular people" and be on the outside. If anything goes down they can play the part of enraged public, screaming at the cops to stop brutalizing innocents, and visibly recording it on camera.

[-] 3 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

filming every police action is 1st priority when considering front line protection of OWS comrades.

[-] 2 points by OccNoVi (415) 12 years ago

Same time, film any action from costumed or teamed-up individuals.

The big problem is always agent provocateur fakery.

Research the October 8th 2011 agent provocateur action at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. A rightie employee of The American Spectator named Patrick Howley and another man using the name "Mike Stack" incited a major riot -- tear gas and SWAT Team responses came down on a crowd of several hundred anti-military anti-drone-killings demonstrators.

That fakery worked 100%. The guards fell for it and tear gassed the crowd.

Occupy Security applied those lessons during the Zuccotti occupation. NYPD had its problems, of course, but they did take seriously these threats from right wing provocateurs.

Absolutely - do not hang around - find high ground - I am not familiar with Florida - but don't wait - find shelters now.

It's all good. They are blowing it WAY out of proportion.

The only reason they canceled the convention for Monday is because they are typical spoiled politicians.

Even USF isnt canceling their classes.

I lived in Brandon (Tampa suburb) for years. I swear they announced a hurricane every 3 weeks. Everyone would run to Publix, buy a ton of supplies, and the hurricane would land somewhere else. So Publix would put a giant bin in front of the store asking for donations of supplies for the poor victims of the hurricane somewhere else. So we would donate the supplies we bought, Publix would put them back on the shelf, call the National Hurricane Center, and tell them to announce another hurricane.

[-] 2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

haha, thats hysterical. I live right of Kennedy Blvd, not too far from downtown or OT.

Its so typical that the R called this off on Monday, the wimps they are. And Biden backed out too. So sick of these clowns.

Whenever there is in any country, uncultivated lands and unemployed poor, it is clear that the laws of property have been so far extended as to violate natural right. The earth is given as a common stock for man to labour and live on. If for the encouragement of industry we allow it to be appropriated, we must take care that other employment be provided to those excluded from the appropriation. If we do not the fundamental right to labour the earth returns to the unemployed.--Thomas Jefferson (3rd USA President)

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, "religious" "conservatives" including Pat Robertson, Hal Lindsey, and Charles Colson declared that it was an omen or punishment from God for the sins of liberals. http://mediamatters.org/research/2005/09/13/religious-conservatives-claim-katrina-was-gods/133804 But when a hurricane comes straight at the Republican National Convention on the one day in four years it was set to begin, there is ... silence.

(To be clear, I am not myself suggesting that God is so petty)

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

Plus not a word from Pat on the drought in the very religious heartland.

Could it be he would have to admit, that if God did it, it would be because of the ginned up hate for liberals and Obama in particular?

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Is it really the Bible Belt? Or the Pharacies Belt? God does not like it when his word is misused.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 12 years ago

If God did?

There would no longer be ANY religions as we know them today.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 12 years ago

Too True. Man made religion - would be wiped-OUT.

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I used to live in the area. Tampa could experience tornadoes and flooding. The beaches more so. The biggest problem is POWER. Power outages can be quite devastating and snarl the whole area. That side of FLA usually never gets a direct hit from hurricane. Tampa is not on the coast but across the bay. Somewhat sheltered. The beaches will be ground zero on this one.

LoL, I still remember living there on the beach and having some real wing ding hurricane parties. I'm sure the folks their are pretty much complacent, as I said they have never seen a direct hit. But in these daze of of ratcheted up Global Warming there is always a first. I have been there when it did flood, that is a high possibility (along with loss of power for days if not weeks) Orlando is only an hour drive away. That could be a good PLAN B.

Good Luck to ALL. Make it happen!!!

Looking at storm track predictions - you will want to be towards the east coast of florida - and north. North and east looks to get you out of the heaviest part of the storm track at this point in time.

They [the politicians and statesmen] have cheated us. They have fooled us. Hundreds of millions of people in Europe and in America, billions of men and women yet to be born, have been and are being cheated, traded and tricked out of their lives and health and well-being.--Albert Einstein

Here's a reasonable contribution. Suitable for hand-outs:

Indeed, life begins at conception. But Judaism and Christianity are different from Buddhism and most of Hinduism. Judaism and Christianity have always believed that the soul comes to the body with the first breath.

Meanwhile, 30,000 women are impregnated in the U.S. annually from rapes. Those woman-people have souls and personal rights, more than the unborn children. This poster hits that nail on the head.

[-] -2 points by Lucky1 (-125) from Wray, CO 12 years ago

Ummm...who is saying a rape victim can't have an abortion? Akin? So what? What does he effect?

[-] 0 points by pxlmvr (0) from Columbus, OH 12 years ago

... so you guys are against anyone who makes over $350,000 a year?? That would include a whole lot of small business people, lawyers, doctors, and other entrepreneurs...

... i see why people think the whole 1% thingy is stupid. you should probably say the 0.01% if you are talking about millionaires and above . ijs

This message is to Occupy Wall Street! None of the meetings you have, or the protest you take part in, or even the sit ins mean a damn thing if you don't go out and vote. On Nov 6th if Romney wins you loose point blank. So if your movement is simply a fad, a place to meet and greet then you deserve no consideration and should not be taken seriously, but if your out there standing in lines texting everyone you know to cast a ballot and make your vote count the I support you.

The rich have money, you have a vote! if you sit out they win the banks , the lobbyist win, please vote, the marches are all and good but if you don't vote it doesn't mean a damn thing.

If your not registered go to ourtime.org and do so.
