Where: Pere Marquette Park (3rd St and State), Milwaukee, WI
Facebook event

The Struggle of the 99% against the exploitation of the 1% is not just an election between Democrats and Republicans, it is a struggle between the Haves and the Have Nots. We must remember this and not let up our will to fight back against the 1%, even after the recall. We will be starting at Pere Marquette, at which point we are going to march through the city in what is sure to be a spirited exercise of the Power of the People. This rally will occur NO MATTER WHICH CANDIDATE WINS THE RECALL! If your group is interested in endorsing this event, contact us at occupymilwaukee@gmail.com! Occupy Milwaukee will always keep it in the streets!

We need supplies to create flyers, banners, drums and signs for this huge action! If you would like to donate to Occupy Milwaukee, please see the donation section of our website. Every little bit counts, so please donate $1, $5 if you can!

After voting on June 5th we have to make our voices heard in order to hold our Governor accountable. Occupy Milwaukee, community allies and labor unions will march on June 6th to make the following demands of our Governor:

  1. Repeal Act 10 - Hands off unions and collective bargaining. No cuts to education or Badger Care.
  2. Restore the Equal Pay Act - We demand an end to workplace discrimination.
  3. Tax the 1% - Hold the banksters and the 1% accountable for their economic crisis, and stop the cuts to working and oppressed people.

We will rally at Pier Marquette Park before marching on Milwaukee's banking district.

Endorsers (in progress) - Occupy Wisconsin, Occupy Milwaukee, Madison, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Appleton and St. Croix Falls, 9 to 5, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 998, Milwaukee Teachers Education Association (MTEA), Welfare Warriors, Casa Maria, WI Bailout the People Movement, Iraq Veterans Against the War, AFSCME 82, Move to Amend, Milwaukee Students for a Democratic Society, Peace Action WI, Milwaukee Fransiscan Action Network, Milwaukeeans for a Better Tomorrow Tomorrow, Act Everywhere, Occupy Riverwest, Occupy the Suburbs, Milwaukee Transit Riders Union, Progressive Democrats of America...

Update from People for the American Way.

Dear Dan,

I’m here in Wisconsin with Scott Foval, our Wisconsin Coordinator, and the rest of our field team working hard to get out every last vote we can to recall Scott Walker, his Radical Right Lt. Governor, Rebecca Kleefisch, and their enablers in the Wisconsin State Senate.

It’s been an intense journey and it’s all been thanks to you and your incredible support. I wanted to take a moment to share with you some of what we’ve already accomplished with your help.

PFAW supporters from Wisconsin and surrounding states have been among the most enthusiastic and committed volunteers of the whole campaign.

PFAW members and activists filled nearly 800 pre-GOTV canvassing shifts, resulting in 46,860 door knocks. During the GOTV phase, PFAW supporters like you filled 1091 shifts and knocked on 65,460 doors of key voters. That’s 1872 shifts filled for a total 112,320 knocks ... and these numbers are likely conservative (meaning even more PFAW supporters volunteered that we just didn’t track)!

PFAW activists from around the country participated in at-home phone banking and shared important information about the recall election online and within their communities.

In addition, we've completed a round of focus groups to inform our mail and advertising program. PFAW was the only organization to conduct research in the Latino community for the recalls and led the effort to target Latino voters with direct mail. We sent out three major pieces of direct mail to Latino households statewide and provided literature for canvassers in Latino-heavy neighborhoods to use.

PFAW also invested in strong Spanish language radio buys, totaling 338 ads over two weeks, the largest progressive Spanish language ad campaign in the state. Our radio ads are still going strong through Election Day today, playing twice every hour until the polls close.

Finally, PFAW Wisconsin Coordinator Scott Foval continues to be an integral part of the We Are Wisconsin communications and events teams. He spearheaded production of the June 1 GOTV Rally Concert featuring Tom Morello, Jackson Browne, and others in Madison; the post-Primary Unity March and Rally, and scores of mobilization events like the We Are Wisconsin movie screenings. He will keep working hard to be our eyes-and-ears in Wisconsin, connecting with you through social media, and representing PFAW on-the-ground through the November 6 General Election.

Make no mistake. NONE of this work could have been possible without your steadfast support and your savvy recognition of just how important this recall election is.

We are still fighting hard, working to overcome Republicans’ staggering money advantage and the Right’s dirty tricks. It’s been an uphill battle all along, with the Wisconsin recall offering the clearest example yet of how incredibly damaging the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision has been to American elections. But People Power won’t fade away.

We’ve put up a hell of a fight. And it ALWAYS pays to fight. Walker and his cronies trampled on Americans’ fundamental rights and you did the right thing in standing with us to say NO.

While it’s an uphill battle, I’m confident that we can recall Scott Walker, Rebecca Kleefisch and flip control of the State Senate to stop Walker’s draconian agenda in its tracks. So let’s get ready to celebrate.

THANK YOU!

With sincere and profound gratitude,

Randy Borntrager, Political Director

The Nations eyes as well as the eyes of the world are on you today Wisconsin.

We pray that you will have a clear win over anti-people politics.

We pray that your voting today will soundly reject corrupt corporate manipulation of your state government.

We pray that a victory for Barret will show the rest of the country and the world that profit over people corporate manipulation by money can be successfully defeated.

Today is the day, Wisconsin!

Vote out Walker and his cronies. Kick Koch in the nuts.

Elect a New Governor - Barret.

Send the Ex on to his prosecution free and clear of any interference with the governing of your state.

Wonder how much Walker might owe his love child in unpaid child care - is he a deadbeat dad as well?

Inquiring minds want to know.

When Obama was "negotiating" with Republicans, he told them "Elections have consequences." Well, unless liberals lose! When unions forced an election with Delta Airlines employees, the union lost. But they whined, and the NLRB said it wasn't a fair election and caused another vote. The unions lost. So the NLRB forced another election...and another. We see it here in WI again, where the losing party simply left the state to keep from facing the consequences. It looks like if Walker wins, the losers will create ongoing demonstrations to try to eventually, one way or another, bring about the repeal of Act 10. How many of WI's taxpayer dollars are groups willing to waste before accepting that elections have consequences and sometimes you lose?

We just need to see if the people really support the recall and the cause by voting.

While the OWSers are railing against the "1%" that exploit the rest of us, they want an end to capitalism. They want to replace the "1%" of government/business with the "0.01%" that is government only. I guess it's better to have the government alone "screwing" 99.99% of us instead of government and the evil rich screwing only 99% of us, right??
