Taking a moment to invite people in Northern California

Posted 12 years ago on Sept. 20, 2011, 8:44 p.m. EST by anonymous

There is a modest occupation going on in San Francisco and growing. They started out 6 and are growing exponentionally, are at 555 California Street, and will have some communications up tomorrow. They're throwing an invite to everyone who wants, everyone who can, and everyone at all who is around San Francisco.

Actions are also being organized for LA if you're in SoCal, but it's not ready yet. They're using the chatroom at tinychat.com/tr7ah for temporary organizing until they start going public, and cordially inviting people to join them to help organize.

I am coming with food/coffee and other reinforcements to SF. What do u need? DO NOT GIVE UP! DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! Many support u, even if they are silent!

It seems only right to set up a protest here in Sacramento. Being the capital, its high time to do this here. Expose the financial and big business wrongdoings. ANYONE interested can contact me here. Lets get at least 50 people. If there is any interest, any interest at all in joining #OccupyWallStreet here in Sacto, I urge you to contact me. Contact everyone you know in and around Sacramento, tell #OccupyWallStreet that Sacramento stands with them.

I'd like to know if there's anything organizing in the midwest. I'm near Minneapolis/ St. Paul. Otherwise I'm starting to consider a bus to NYC. It's really crazy and impractical for me, but that's kinda the point. These are the very reasons that this message is a bold one.

I would absolutely attend a Minneapolis protest. We're certainly a big enough city to pull it off. Otherwise, be in touch about your plans to go to Chicago. I was thinking next week. I can only go for a couple days at a time, but I'm down to go on a couple occasions as well. In Minneapolis I could stay out nearly everyday and for a very long time. If anybody has some resources or experience organizing things like this, please share. Minneapolis is the 99%.

For now I have wind of organizing being started in Chicago which is admittedly a day away from the Twin cities. Better than NYC; see the comment just below yours.

I know everyone's blaming Wall Street and Corporations and I agree they contributed to the current financial crisis but could you consider another way to get this straightened out by uniting everyone including corporations until the corruption and power rules are changed? www.nationalday911.org or at least incorporate it into the movement?

[-] 1 points by champ (3) 12 years ago

I hate to paraphrase President GW Bush but - either you're with us or you're against us. This is a people's movement, it's actually a world wide people's movement. Right now it's nothing more than a fetus but it's growing and I don't think all the money in the world can kill it.

The day is coming when we will say that money used to be power but now it's people.

[-] 1 points by champ (3) 12 years ago

I'm a slightly over middle aged white guy who lost his pension but managed to hang onto his job. I'm happy but in reality I'm only a few months away from losing every material thing I have to the bank due to layoff, illness or anything else that might prevent me from showing up at work tomorrow.

I'm going downtown to deliver a load of whatever I can think of - old sleeping bags, coats, long-johns, socks, snacks, drinks (especially water). I'm going to keep doing it for as long as it takes.

We don't need a manifesto, we need to maintain this movement on it's own course and let it grow as it will - this is something beyond what anyone can grasp. Let the mainstream ignore it all they want - they can't win if we make sure that this thing endures.

The time is right for a world-wide people's uprising. All of our "demands" will evaporate when we have demonstrated our resolve to "jump the shark" If you're buying stuff at Wal-Mart you're feeding the system. The time has come to begin a new economy based on “we the people”.

That means supporting this movement in whatever way we can. Eventually it will grow until someday there may be a world encompassing stand down when ALL of the working people take a day off in unison. That means don't go to work, don't drive your car, don't buy anything - shut the entire world economy down like The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Right now it’s small, infinitesimal and easily ignored by the mainstream media. They are under the delusion that it is going to fade away due to lack of front page acknowledgement. But this movement isn’t looking for coverage on 24/7 cable news – nobody in this movement even watches Fox News, which is fast following in the steps of the dinosaurs.

You're a complete idiot. Ban all gays ? 30 years for people caught with drugs? Use lethal force on borders? Yeah, that's going to solve everything!!!

Your ideas are NOT inline with this Wall Street protest.

[-] 1 points by dkling419 (2) 12 years ago

I've been following the protest since its first announcement in adbusters. I know we are a leaderless movement, but we NEED ONE COMMON GOAL. If there is not one SPECIFIC MUTUAL DEMAND, then they will not know what we are trying to accomplish. PLEASE CONSIDER.

Am spreading the word in the midwest

HEADS UP: Network Solutions Using Cloudmark - Same Censorship Software Used in China - To Block Occupy Wall Street Emails

Network Solutions (one of America's largest Internet Service Providers) is using Cloudmark, the same "spam filter" used for Internet censorship in China...

http://tinyurl.com/3b5ct4r

...to block emails referencing URLs (links) related to the "Occupy Wall Street" and "U.S. Day of Rage" events. Here is an example of one such email, which was sent but never delivered:

http://tinyurl.com/cloudmark-censors-occupywallst

Why is Network Solutions blocking legitimate political emails like this one? I don't know for sure, but tracing their origin, history and ownership is something I recommend for all who oppose the Kleptocracy:

http://tinyurl.com/3ep7k6g

And we all know who Big Brother answers to, so why should we expect less from an ISP founded by spooks?

My Demands:

  1. Politicians will never be able to accept donations (or any other form of money) from bankers or corporations that have been involved in fraud, fines for illegal behavior, slave labor or externatlities. All money must be donated from the 99%.

  2. The federal reserve shall no longer be a separate entity owned by a group of bankers. The Government and American people shall control the bank system.

  3. Do away with the "loan system."

  4. Corporations will have limitations. They cannot outsource more than 50% of their jobs. Also, monopolies will be limited. They cannot just go into towns and destory all of the competition by using sheer numbers, size and improper buisness practices (wall mart).

  5. The tax system needs to be redone. It needs to be simeple, so that even a high school graduate can understand it.

  6. If a corporation is involved in corrupt or illegal activities, their assets and investments can be frozen for up to 5 years. No OPERATION.

  7. No bailouts. Let them fall... Rebuild a better system.

  8. V

[-] 1 points by mamawati (7) 12 years ago

You support illegal occupation of this country? You support giving your money to people who steal it by sneaking across the border to drop their babies here? What flavor of Kool Aid are you drinking? If you actually look at what has happened statistically in this country, you will see that by sheer numbers alone, a lot of the economic pain felt across this country is due to rampant pandering and paying for people who have no business being here. Immigration is one thing-illegal entry another. Your knee jerk reaction to factual analysis of what has happened over the last three decades in this country is part of why we are in the predicament we are in. So yes, you need to grow up, take off the masks and do some reading with more than your smartphone. Next tell Buffet to pay the billion dollars he owes the IRS rather than butt kissing the President. Then, do something about waste in government, bring the troops home and tell any country that doesn't like us that they can kiss their aid packages goodbye because we are spending the money at home for schools and roads and other necessary services to citizens.

[-] 1 points by SwissMiss (2435) from Ann Arbor Charter Township, MI 12 years ago

So, what you are saying is that the protesters ALL are here without documentation???? I guess you REALLY DON'T understand what the protest is about and who is protesting. Clueless.
